Gargle some honey in hot water. Make it a far chunk of honey - 50/50 split of honey water. Honey is a natural antibacterial. You add some lemon if you wanted. The acidy would kill off anything the honey missed, and helps to hydrate.
I gargled salt water three times a day for a couple of days to make mine go away, It always helps otherwise im contantly getting antibiotics. Although i wouldnt say it sooths more to than kills some bugs lol
You can take strepsils - provided they don't have any menthol in them. The pharmasist has a big book they can check in to make sure the ones you buy are safe in pregnancy.
I had one over Easter, I took panadol when I couldn't bare it any longer, and lived on decaf tea and OJ. Basically I just made sure it was always 'wet' in my throat, as soon as I got a dry mouth it was more unbearable.
for one of my follow through mummy's who asked this same question - i rung 5 chemists, 2 doctors and an OB and apparently you can take Strepsils (and panadol of course)
but as few other have already said - Salt water gargles work a treat!!!!
tried my gargles and honey and lemon... helped but not much (gargling while having heartburn makes one have the need to vomit...). Headed to the chemist and the pharmacist said I can take strepsils but only the honey and lemon ones. Better than nothing and they seem to be helping
