swine flu risk at party, to go or not to go?

I don't think I'd be going either the risk seems to outweigh the benefit.

Its tricky but I would just be very honest with your friend and simply say you won't be going because her sister has Swine flu and potentially her children will likely to be carriers of the virus. Also mention that pregnant women are considered to be high risk and that you really don't want to risk catching it.

Your friend will probably be upset and a little disappointed but that will only be because she will be wanting you there. She will get over it and may even understand your reasoning.

FWIW - at least you know about the Swine Flu factor in this case, I am sure there are many many people out there wandering about and sitting in close quarters to others that have the virus or have been in contact with people who have had the virus and you would be none the wiser.

I wouldn't be going. I worked my last 4 weeks from home due to so many people in the office having the normal flu which I thought was bad enough.

I know you can catch it anywhere but if I knew for sure that someone had been infected, I'd be avoiding them and their family where possible.

A tough decision but you would hope that others would understand. I sure would!

There is no way I would go - or have DH go either. A friend of mine is 31 wks pg and has swine flu. Horrid. She is really stressed out and feeling absolutely dreadful, being monitored very closely by the hospt and her OB. I wouldnt risk it for the sake of not annoying someone for a day.
