DH just told the boys one night while we were eating tea! I think I was about 8 weeks.

I waited til after the 12 week scan. With a history or mc and two very sensitive girls, i just wanted to be sure everything was ok. And i knew it would be hard for them to keep it quiet, so we waited til we were comfortable with everyone knowing. They were 10 and 8 at the time.

We waited until the 20w scan and showed DD the ultrasound dvd - she thought it was a monkey She is impatient so any earlier would have been too long for her to wait.

Idid the mistake of telling the boys to early when pg with the twins....a week later I lost them
But with Mateauz we waited until 12 weeks. its to hard to know a 'right' time babe..go with your gutt...maybe you could tell them that you need to get a bigger home cause their baby brother is on the way

DD is still too young to really understand but we tell her all the time that 'Mummy's got a bubba in her belly' and ask her if she wants to cuddle bubba, give bubba a kiss, etc.
Now she thinks *everybody* has a bubba in their belly (and it's gotten worse since we told her our cat is also pregnant, hey, if they cat has bubbas in there then so does EVERYBODY!)... it's so cute though.
We waited until 12 weeks to tell everybody this time around because we lost one at around 6 weeks when DD was three or four months old, so we didn't want to get everybody's hopes up.

My Dd is only 20mths. I told her when everyone started attacking my tummy about 18wks or so. At first she thought everyone had a baby in their tummy including her. But now she kinda gets that there's only a baby in mummy's tummy. From time to time she suprises me with kisses for the baby and plays peek-a-boo. We don't make a big thing of telling her all the time but she does get told not to be rough with mummmy's tummy because of the baby. (She likes to walk on my tummy or kick my tummy when we are laying in bed).

I know she won't understand fully until it's actually born, but she knows what a baby is outside of a tummy as she is in daycare with babies (and is sooo cute trying to rock them or give then their dropped bottle back). But beware if anyone trys to takes her SHOES!

Awww Tanya, that is soo cute! Wonder if Emily's premonition will be right? Do you think she will be disappointed if she finds out she will be having another sister?
