I guess it's important to remember that they may be student midwives but they were registered nurses first and have been working in hospitals probably for years. The fact that they have chosen midwifery must mean they have a passion for it which can only be a positive for you!

It's great to have extra support from someone who wants to be there for you. An the fact that you would have developed a relationship with them is an added bonus.
