    Urgent advice needed!

    Hi Ladies,
I'm freaking out a little and I don't know whether I should be or not, I really need some opinions.
I thought I was 9 weeks pregnant, and in the last few days I have been getting this brown discharge, which last night turned into a little bit of blood. This morning there was still a little bit of blood, but we're talking a really small amount, so small I only notice it when I wipe and its really light in colour. So I went to the doctor and they moved my 10 week scan (that I was suppose to have next week) to today to see what was going on. Went to the scan and there was a healthy 7w 2day baby, with a strong heart beat (147 bpm) and the lady doing the u/s said everything looked good, I just am I little out with my dates.
But the bleeding is getting a little worse, it still only evident when I wipe but much more obvious. It is still only a small amount, but its still there and slightly worse.
Now that I have seen baby this morning, while this bleeding was happening, does that mean that I can put this down to the spotting people talk about during pregnancy? Or heaven forbid, can it still mean I might be at the start of a m/c? Please I need some opinions.

Lots of people have some spotting in their pregnancies. It's quite common.

I had some spotting for several days in a row at around 6 weeks. It scared me like crazy, but eventually, after I'd been spotting for several days and no M/C, I started to relax about it. It did just go away: these things happen. I'm currently 27 weeks pregnant and all is well.

I would do your best to stay calm, remember the excellent ultrasound result shows everything is healthy now, and wait for the spotting to end.

    Good luck with it.

Did they do an internal u/s? I had slight brown spotting before an internal ultrasound and it got worse for a few hours afterwards and i went on to have a healthy pregnancy. If you're really concerned give you dr a call, but it could just be spotting, sorry i am not more help, i really hope everything is okay for you xxx

    Hi there Mrs. Matthews,
I am having the exact same thing - and am very close to you in dates.
I only see blood when I wipe and the rest of the time have brown discharge evident on my liner.
That's fantastic that you've seen your bub and it looks healthy
Bleeding/ spotting is really common in early pg and it's only cause of concern when you're cramping badly and it's accompanied by a fair quantity of blood - lighter than a period though - if that is ever the case you should be seen quickly.
Other than that I honestly think that we're both going to be fine. I am currently cramping but I think it's just my uterus readjusting.
Good luck and I hope you have a happy and healthy 40 week pg

When I M/c'd I was in a lot of pain with the blood as well. With my successful pregnancy I also got the spoting like you are talking about with no pain and everything was fine!

    Im sure everything is fine!

Hi - bleeding in pg can be scary - lots of women bleed and it is unexplained. The thing to keep in mind is that brown blood is old blood. Fresh blood is bright red. If you saw your baby on the US this morning and everything is going well, and all you have is brown blood, you probably don't have anything to worry about. The blood could be a week old or even more. I would see the doctor again immediately if you start to have a bright red show.

Thanks ladies, I really appreciate your support.
Can I ask a stupid question though- When do I get worried? Do I just let this spotting continue and then if there's heaps of blood get worried then? And I suppose any cramping? Or does it have to be really bad cramping?
I have this fear I am going to m/c and not realise now. Will I know if I start to m/c?

    Mrs. Matthews,

If you are bleeding because you are miscarrying, you will definitely know. I had red blood (small amounts) and then it REALLY started. Way worse than any period I've ever had, mostly because you're passing the lining of the uterus which has thickened due to the introduction of a fetus.

I was cramping so badly that I felt it up my spine and couldn't bare to sit on the toilet to poo.

You have seen the baby. You know one is there. If you start to get really concerned you need to see your doctor. You sound concerned to me, so the doc needs to make time to see you again.
