Please note that this post is not intended to provoke alarm in anyone.
I, like most women chose to have an ultrasound with my first baby.
I am more informed on the procedure this time around, and as I am in a low-risk category and am expecting a normal delivery, this time I have chose not to have an ultrasound. The fetal heart beat can be heard using a fetoscope as an alternative.
I just wanted to post this because sometimes as women we are fed the idea by medical 'experts' that certain procedures are necessary, when in actual fact they are optional. I believe that women have a right to choose regarding every aspect of their pregnancy and birth, and should not be made to feel degraded or irresponsible for doing so - especially when the decision is a well informed one.
