I too woud choose the risks associated with an ultra-sound over the risks of no ultra-sound.
One of my friends had a little girl with a huge cyst in-utero that impacted on the size of her lungs. Because the ultra-sound picked this up they had a specialist team and operating theatre on stand-by when she was born. Now she's a happy, healthy little girl but the outcome could have been very differant had there been no fore-warning of her condition.

Thanks Jellybean for posting that article. It was so interesting and great how it was all referenced. As you say, each to their own and people have us for many diff reasons but I also like to be informed as to the pros and cons of everything. FWIW I decided just to have the 20 week scan for this bub but with DD I had about 4 which wasn't a problem but thought if I can lessen the number this time within my safety and comfort zone I will. Mind you, if a GP or ob said I really think you should have one for reason XYZ and I was happy with their opinion I would have another u/s but so far happy with my decision.
