Weight gain? also maybe a little TMI sorry

well my dr is a little concerned with how much weight ive gained sicne i last saw him and also because DS was born at 10 pounds so im wondering what is a normal weight gain at 22-23 weeks as ive already put on 7kg. to me this seems normal to me because i put on 23 kg all up with DS but as i said he was born a big boy though and would much rather that not happen again.

Also this may be a little TMI but i have to ask someone before i go to the dr lol. i have for a few weeks had some discharge that i put down to just being pregnant (had it with DS) but latley ive been very dry and itchy but it doesnt seem like thrush or anything to me? could this be a urine infection??? i really have no idea what it is and dont really fancy taking my 2yr to the dr to find out its nothing and just a part of being pregnant.

    thank you all

Sorry can help with the dryness etc maybe just changes in the Vagina, from pregnancy...can't remember. DS was two years ago and then some now......

I read somewhere normal weight gain for pregnancy is 10kg.... But me personally, I think considering everyone is different & every pregnancy is different, I think the normal weight gain is what ever is normal for YOU!

As for the dryness, it proberbly is thrush, but it doesn't hurt to ask your doc about it. if it is an infection, it's better to get it cleared up sooner than later.

Congrats on your pregnancy & good luck!

I don't think there is a right amount of weight to put on. I was not weighed officially during my pregnancy and i don't see what info it really gives you. If you are eating well and feeling well, just go with the flow.

I lost 20kg in the week after birth, some of it baby, some amniotic fluid and some fluid throughout my body.

My OB never once weighed me nor did any of the midwives at the hospital and I put on about 25kg's. It's funny that 1/2 the people i speak to think normal is 10kg's and the other 1/2 think 20kg's is normal. I think whatever is normal for you is what normal is Can't help out with the itchy thing though.

I agree with what the others are saying it is what is normal for you and your body i myself usually put on between 8-10kgs and so far with this bub i have put on 5-6kg and i am 31 weeks.
I have a girlfriend with 3 boys who put on between 25-45kgs each baby and it diddnt matter what she did she looked 6 months pregnant at 8 weeks i have never seen someone almost double their body size in 9 months she did a total morph but after bubs arrived withing 6 months she was back to her normal weight.

Your weight gain is completley fine, everyone is different, for some people a small amount of gain is normal for others, much larger gains are normal.

With both girls I put of a different amount, DD1 I put on 10kg, started at 64kg, DD2 I put on 14kg, started at 60kg, so both times I got to 74kg, must be my pregnancy weight

I am not sure about the dry and itchiness, I would have through that it could have been thrush, perhaps mention it to your care provider when you next see them.
Take care hun, you are doing a great job xxoo

I don't think I'd be concerned with the weight gain, I don't think it has anything to do with the size of your baby (unless u have GD) I put on about 20kg last preg and the one before at least 15kg.

Also for the ichyness it could be thrush Ive oply ever had it during pregnancy, hormones changing or something but bets ask the dr :-)

i think it's worth getting checked by your GP, cos if you take AB's for thrush, and it's not thrush, that could cause an imbalance too. I thought thrush was more than just itchiness, e.g a discharge as well. Us guessing online and you guessing, is not the same as you being accurately diagnosed by a medico. i realise it's a pain to take your toddler to the GP. If you book an appointment, tell the receptionist you are bringing a LO, they might be sensitive to that.

THe "average preg weight" sounds a very hard one to have an answer about, people vary so much.

i hear you on the "being proud of your mummy bump", i felt that way too. (but the other direction, my baby bump took a long time to become obvious, when i was DYING for people to comment, no-one did!). You are baking a lovely bub, no wonder you want to show off your bump, if i was preg again, i would too :hugs:

i actually think what you put in your body (healthy food) is more important than what the scales say. So if you're eating well, and still gaining whatever - so be it. But if your medico SUSPECTS you might have GD, but is waiting for the 28 wk mark (usual time for the test), i don't understand why your medico is not being PROactive, instead of waiting. That does sound a bit irresponsible to me (assuming that once you ARE diagnosed with GD, you might need to make changes. Why wait if medico suspects it now? ( this is a comment about your medico, not you).

best of luck, i hope you get some relief soon, sounds uncomfy for you.
Last time i had a pap smear, the medical centre got a nurse with 5 mins spare, to take my DD for a walk, so i could have the pap done, without worrying about my DD stickybeaking etc. i hope yours is helpful too.

everyone's different with the weight thing, i wouldn't be too concerned as long as you're healthy.
with the itch thing, i had similar a few months ago, around the time of my papsmear, so i got my gynie to look at it, and he said it was just a skin irritation, common in the heat or excercise with sweating etc. try not to wear any undies for a while, and the canestan cream also works a treat..

Lol. I feel very ill with my pregnancy tablets. Then I worked out that I was taking them whenever.. Try taking them before a big feed such as dinner or lunch. That should help!
As for down below use Canestan 6 day pessary. I have never had a yeast infection before but heard about the symptoms, as you described and could not be stuffed seeing a doctor as
it was Christmas eve. So sent hubby down to chemist and he returned with the 6 day as instructed by the chemist as being the only one I could take whilst being pregnant. : ) After 3 days it was gone!

As for weight. I am at about the 12 kilo mark. Everybody type is different. Google Tori spelling pregnant and look at her now to know that the "norm" is not the norm for everyone.
Pregnancy is not a time to be gloating about how little you have gained. So don't be worried about it, I know with some girls all it does is make them upset because they are not the same. : ) What is however important is that you feel good about your body, so don't compare yourself to anyone else and just focus on you. My doctor has not weighed me but measured my tummy and I am normal. He told me I have nothing to be concerned about. Some doctors can be particularly picky but if you feel good then don't worry. From your pic I must say you look beautiful!

Btw DH sisters have given birth to 10 pound babies and they are a size 4-6. : )

I'm probably a bit late here coz you've already been given heaps of good advice, just wanted to let u know I put on 21kg while pg, no gd and a 8lb13 bub. I also had an itchy hoohah at times and was told to 'air' when I could (I live in the tropics) but I drank a glass of cranberry juice a day and when I did that it cleared right up and was alot more comfortable. When I stopped drinking the juice it came back... Worth a try!

cranberry juice is good for UTI (urinary tract infections) - gee being a female is tricky

you only need a small amount (it is exxy to buy), so i took it like medicine (except, yummy)

good when you HAVE a uti or when you want to PREVENT a uti.

drink lots of water to flush your system out too, remembering to drink water - it's a constant "thing"
