Just jumping on the new thread - will be back to catch up soon, but just wanted to send big squishy cuddles to brave little Jazzy (and her Mummy and Daddy). I know how scary it is when your little one has an op. Great to hear that Jazzy has come through with flying colours. Would love to see video of her when she is "switched on" - what a big moment that will be. Love the new photo in your ticker Murph - GORGEOUS girl.

Hi to everyone else - all is well here, just busy as usual - will make some time for a catch up.

yeah murph i'm with the other's. I read it cover to cover after it was recommended by some friends (all whose baby's were bottle fed unlike Ash at the time) and promptly disregarded it.

i ended up giving it to a friend who was going to buy a copy. she mainly used it when her 2nd arrived to give her an idea of timings for managing 2 kids.

but I really didn't like the tone nor the do-or-die structure of it and I'm like marcellus, I just follow DS's tired signs and he goes to bed when he's tired and gets up when he's awake - and i find that he naturally has his own routine (which changes slightly day to day but is pretty much the same).

I do do some controlled crying (don't shoot me people!) but i think he's old enough to understand and I also am good at guaging his cries.

but we are also very structured in our bed routine
:yeahthat: Sorry to plagiarise Grub but that's pretty much us to a T too! And every day is different.

I piked out of work today to nap. And sit on the internet Have a head cold.
Have you hit the Fess? I found it brilliant when preggers, I had terrible hayfever & sinus issues all the way through & it was the only thing that helped.

Anyway just wanted to let you all know we had our NT scan today... YAY... Without having bloods our DS risk is 1:1170 so happy with that and now no need for a CVS or amnio.

Twin A (right side) was measuring at 13w and seemed to be taking up all the right side and the middle and Twin B (left side) was measuring at 13w 1d and was all squished up. Twin B has always measured 1 day bigger in every scan so far, but I'm happy as they were growing (measuring bigger than our actual dates) and very active jumping around everywhere.

So next scan in 4 weeks time and fingers crossed both babies are cooperative and we get to see what sex they wil be....
Awesome news! By the way I'm having a really strong vibe that you've got little growing in there! Don't know why but can just see you with 3 girls!

hey murph, just wanted to give andy heaps of kudos for his great work... and for his sidekicks obvious talents... lol about the slave labour... whenever DH 'helps' me, he always says i can pay him "in sexual favours'' lol what a dork! but he will do anything for a grope lol so works out well for me ... get work done, get a feel up HAHAHAHAHAHAH (no girls haven't been drinking)
Oh girl, you need to work this more! My friend used to have a chart system. DH did various "chores" and earned points for each one. The points were added up and various *ahem* activities had various points values. Well her house had never been so clean and tidy and all the "To-Do" lists were well and truly crossed off The best part was that her hideous MIL found the charts one day when she came to visit and "help out" (read: visit and tell her what a bad mother she was and how wrongly she was doing everything) so she took great pleasure intelling her MIL exactly what the charts were and exactly what the points her son was earning were going towards

Smithy! Love the tagline at the bottom of your sig! That's a whole lotta kids & S-kids you got there! Love your Piczo too!

    Hi to everyone else!

wow, that's a real mouthful Smithy!
I reckon girls too Kelly! Glad to hear the scan went well.

Murph, good for you. That's one of the main reasons I hate those sorts of books - make you feel like a **** mother if it doesn't work.

Far out. Is that how you get men to do housework? Why did that never ocur to me? If my house got cleaned I might actually be motivated to partake in said activities... I might have to have a serious chat with DH.

There are a stack of photos on this link for anyone interested in a bit of a story about our little trip to Melbourne for jazzy's surgery. Otherwise, we can just leave Smithy in peace to enjoy them on her own She hasn't got the external components of the cochlears yet (UNTIL SWITCH-ON ON THE 23RD), so it's all hidden inside her little noggin ready to make the airport beepers go off lol.

Hope I don't upset anyone. I made a lady in the shops fully cry just by telling her she's just been implanted.

Oh Grub I am totally kicking myself! I thought for some reason you had already moved! Otherwise I would have asked you if you were going to the HIVF brunch last weekend! Would have been nice to meet you! Oh and as for the huggies, a friend had the same thing happen and they sent her a whole new packet.

Murph: so can't wait to see footage of Princess Jazzy hearing for the first time. I'm not much of a crier, but reckon I'll be bawling at that one! Love the photos BTW. As for those negative nancies, perhaps they're just jealous, maybe they can't have the op done for some reason?

    to everyone else!

    We're all doing well here.

Yay! Just got my package in the mail. I'm part of a panel that is reviewing an Australian trial of some American Pampers nappies. They're supposed to be the bees knees of sposies, super thin and light but apparently hold heaps. Very excited to try them. Especially since J-Man has taken to leaking of a morning these days!

Murph she is so beautiful. Dont let anyone upset you, you have done what is right for you and your family.

Just been and done kindy helper with Campbell, gee I miss work. Oh well not long until I go back and then I will prob groan that I hate it. Didnt mention DH taking X over east again so he missed the sale. So I guess that means he is not going. But could also have been the conversation I had with his about our finances over the next couple of years. The dreaded private school fee monster starts for us and I am trying to keep Xavier out of Daycare for anything more than 3 days a week.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

Glad you liked the photos and thanks for all your support. I will be definitely posting the video of the switch-on. Yeah she was a brave little bugger. I went with her to give the anaesthetic in theatre and I havent told DH but she really fought the mask and didn't go without a fight. It would have killed him to see her that way. As it was, I just fell apart when I got back to him but at least I felt like I saved him from seeing her. Enough of me banging on about the yuck stuff now, it's all up from here and she got her wounds checked yesterday, dressings removed and finally a lovely big bath.

It was so funny, I'd got used to that yuck smell she's had since last Monday but at the library yesterday there was this cute little boy who asked if he could give my baby a kiss. He was 3 and a half and completely adorable. At first his mum agreed to a kiss on the hand if Jasmine wanted it, but later he sneaked in a kiss on the head and he backed away saying 'poo, yuck, her head is stinky'. Out of the mouths of babes hey?

Does anyone here follow the Save our Sleep settling methods? I have had the book recommended and have read heaps of reviews and discussions. I'm off to read the book cover to cover as I have just had an unsettled night from hell with Jazzy because I tried to put her into her cot after her midnight feed and she didn't trust me all night. Ibrought her back into bed but she was so untrusting, she jsut kept climbing onto mine or DH's pillow and curling up. It's time to get into some sort of dreaded routine so I'm thinking of following this book for a little while.

Meanwhile in totally unrelated news my DH's research from the Daintree has just been published in the most important journal in the world for his line of work. It got knocked back and rewritten so many times that he had given it one more go before taking it to a lesser journal, but they accepted it today. It's impressive stuff and the bread and butter for a wildlife biologist. Yay, it must have been due to his trusty sidekick, all those leech bites and falling on my face in the mud...and I didn't complain a bit...MUCH!!! "I'm getting paid how much for this....sweet FA...oh well it's all worth it then"

Well the book says, 10.15 lie her down for a nap so off I go (oh dear, she's not going to like it, she's so happy cruising around blowing raspberries at everything).

I'll let you now how we get on.
