my subscription alert always drops off for this thread too BOC. It really irks me cos then i have to put in about 10 hours of reading to try and catch up and do persies. grumble grumble grumble.
Hi Murph - we all know you are queen of the ramblers pft! i was just filling in while you help jazzy discover the wonderful world of sound How is she??? Gorgeous we know already
Saph - hey that's great about work. and i agree totally, toughest thing i've ever done. I alsways thought it was just bleeding heart lip service when people said that... discovered the hard way i was wrong!!!
MadB - that's great she's sleeping and I love chubby bubbies! Ash never really was and i always wished he'd get those gorgeous rolls up his legs to a squishy little bum lol. I have a baby bum obsession - they are just the cutest little things... well until you see what comes out! lol. HOw are you handling the two kiddies?
lise - any relief yet??
AFM - well it's all happening here. I got into the gorgeous Birth Centre (yiiippeee) after realising we could not afford the $5/6000 that the only private obst we coudl get in with here was going to charge (there's only 3 private docs here and you basically have to book in as soon as you've dtd). So the birth centre seems the next best thing. You go in, push it out and go home about 4 hours post birth! I'm kinda scared of that but my mum and DH will be at home here and I"ll miss Ash like crazy anyway.
Ash is sick atm and we are quarantined from one another so lots of tears from both of us the last few days. He's got chicken pox as well as a bacterial infection in his ear - it's the bacterial infection the docs are worried that i'll contract and being 19 weeks preg now, are very keen to see that NOT happen. It is so incredibly difficult not being able to comfort my sick, unhappy crying baby especially when all he wants are mummy cuddles. It's breaking my heart
but on the up side - i did get 6 pages of his scrapbook done, finished my book series i've been reading and started another! lol. so i have lots of unexpected ME time while DH does baby duty. And another plus, dh had to do all 10 wake ups last night! Okay, i'm making light of it and putting on a brave face cos i really want to go to him when he's crying, but you can't complain when you get a full night sleep and just have to nudge your partner to comfort the baby!
So DH is home probably til at least weds caring for Ash and I'm not dinner, housework and 'do whatever i bleeting well please' duty (except cuddle my lovely little boy ;( )
NEver realised just how affectionate i am with him now i can't touch him. when we are in the same room, i reach for him constantly and have to stop myself from kissing him.
anyhoo, that's life here atm. Oh and it's bleeting hot and humid!
Thanks for the tips/advice re the sore boob ladies! Pleased to report that after a week of agony and three different antibiotics later I am starting to feel better! It's still a bit sore but I can feed without wanting to scream and pull him off so that's good Every day I was close to weaning so i'm glad we got through it as i'm not ready (and nor is Finn) to give it up yet.
Saph, glad that you're happy about going back to work! I've just extended my mat leave because I can't bear to leave DS. Mind you, I wasn't due to go back until July and I would well change my mind before then! Hope Xavier settles into daycare a bit more for you. And I can't believe one, happy birthday for tomorrow little man!!
MadB, so glad you've got a sleeper there, good work
Grub, sorry to hear that Ash is sick, it must be sooooo hard to listen to him and not be able to comfort him Hope he gets better soon so you can enjoy your cuddles. In the meantime, yay for having some you time!!! And glad you got into the birthing centre, although it does sound a bit scary going home a few hours after giving birth, yipes!
Murph, hope Jazzy is going well, looking forward to reading the next instalment.
Hi to everyone else, hope you're going well and not suffering too much from this heat.
Well all this talk of chubby babies, i'll post a link to my FB photos of Finn, he's definitely a chubster! Looking at your stats there saph, 'fraid to say that Finn is already over 9kgs at 6 months... do you think I feed him too much, lol
Forgot to ask - Finn has started sleeping on his tummy, which I don't really like but I can't stop him. What does concern me though is he often sleeps with his forehead on his hands face down. I can see/hear him breathing but I worry he'll suffocate. At this age he wouldn't let himself do that would he? Gee, can you tell I'm a first time IVF parent?! I wonder if I'll EVER stop worrying
Lise this is a question that comes up so often. Both my boys sleep on their tummies. At eight weeks Xavier was waking up every hour day and night. Rolled him onto his tummy and he slept all night. If he is rolling over himself onto his tummy he is obviously more comfortable that way. Just make sure there is no teddies or blankets in his cot with him. Worry away, really that is the life of a parent.
Well, one birthday party on the verge of being cancelled. We are currently under a cyclone warning for tommorrow morning.lol In Perth of all places. We are just waiting to see what it is like in the morning.
Oh and the other great news of the week. Took Campbell to the dentist this week( as we have been doing since he was 18 months old) only to be told he has a hole in one of his molars. So of we trot to the paed dentist to be told he has no enamal on his teeth. So he is now booked in for a crown on the decayed molar, oh which has to be done under a general Oh and will cost $1200. Oh but wait there is more, luckily the hospital is completly covered by health insurance but we will also have to pay for the anethesist. At least I was told I was a great mum beacuse his teeth are very clean and he obviously has a good diet because they were suprised his tooth has lasted this long. ( the one thing he gets from me is crappy teeth.)
Thank goodness there is no excess for kids on private health because Xavier will also be going to hospital soon to fix his hernis. AAARRRGGGHHH
Hope everyone is doing well, guess we should go batten down the hatches. Hehehe
Looks like it shouldn't be too bad in Perth, hopefully we get some rain at least. This heat is effing awful, hey?
Too bad about the party though! Maybe it'll clear by morning...?
Teeth are terribly expensive things, aren't they? reminds me I need to go to the dentist.
Lise - glad you're doing better now. If he's rolling and can push himself up, then he should be fine.
Yay for your birth centre grub - I don't think I'd ever go private again. wasn't worth it at all. anyway, poor ash! And poor you having to stay away from him. Our daycare had a case recently - must keep an eye on DS just in case.
MadB - yes I am over the heat. Party went ahead and was really lovely. And the icing was melting on the cake because it is so hot. got some great photos so will add the link down the botton.
But oh my goodness my bubba boy is one today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY XAVIER.
oh saph that's what my mum would do. clean the house to make it presentable for the cleaner! hope you got some sleep MadB - i think they have 'mummy's eyes are shutting' radar sometimes.
well ash has come out in even MORE spots but to me it doesn't look like chicken pox?? dh is taking him to the doc tomorrow so should know more then. He's stopped being really clingy to me (had no choice really) and dh got BIG cuddles this morn which really tickled him ... he rushed in after and told me all about it
and i have gotten quite a bit of bub's album done! but poor dh, he ain't coping well with waking up several times to comfort a sick bub - who is inhaling mmilk like no tomorrow! but he's gone off his food so no surprise there.
Saph - so glad you had a good partteee! happy bday X! all these babies growing so quick! I remember not that long ago we all came onto this thread aka invaded lol.
Lots of love and sympathy to all who need it. I'm kinda having a tough time of it lately and have become one of those mums who just doesn't have time (or motivation) to even turn on the computer! If it werent for my phone, I'd be out of touch completely at the moment. Its just the usual run of the mill stuff of dealing with toddler tantrums, teething (mega painful), trying to get a 15 month old to hold still while I double-sided tape her cochlear processors to her head, oh about 16000 times a day! When I poked my head up last week to say 'Hi", I was so ready to write a long winded, i'm sooooooo in love with this stage of life letters like Janie does and breaks me out in goosies everytime. But nah, by the next morning I was wondering if I wasn't starting to show signs of depression or pnd. I'm not, it's just my general anxieties and a bit of exhaustion over the past few months catching up with me, mixed with the fact that my toddling teething terror has dropped her morning nap, become mega clingy, is in bucket loads of pain and is just constantly on the go.
I will write my Janie letter when I have it in me. Until then, a stat for you to ponder...my wee Jazzy is 7.5 kilos at 15 months and is baffling doctors by how damn healthy and happy and in proportion the little poppet is. She has entered the zero percentile for weight At least when people see us after a while of not seeing us, theyt don't exclaim at how big she has grown, just how much hair she has
Feeling completely useless and worried about all my friends and family today. My anxiety has taken a hammering and even yoga and meditation won't help today. Hope all your loved ones are safe. Thinking of your folks too grub. My mum is going to bunker down on her own in her cupboard under her stairs. I feel sick.
oh murph i'm with you. My mum came over here to help me with ash cos i still can't go near him with his virus... she got one of the last flights out of cairns yesterday arvo and is now worrying something awful about leaving dad home alone.
they are worried the top part of the house might go.
glad i'm not there, but kind of want to be there to comfort and be a help iykwim!
Your poor mum will be beside herself. I hope their house holds up and he has somewhere safe. I want to stop watching the updates but my heart is with everyone and its all I can do, they're all petrified. I don't pray, but I'm baking a happy cake for everyone lol. Gotta find smiles somewhere.x
Trying to get DS to sleep but just wanted to pop in to say to Murph and Grub and anyone else in the region or with loved ones in QLD that I hope everyone is safe and well xx
I am with you to murph and grub my MIL and Brother and sister in law and their 3 month old boy and bunkered down in their bathrooms. They are in Townsville. We have been able to talk with them on mobiles but their power is out. we have been watching the news coverage which I think is making the anxiety worse.
Keep us all informed about how your families are doing.
thanks girls. unfortunately looks like my dad, sister, bil, aunty and all my bffs are going to cop the cat 5 full on... 290km/h winds. so pretty scary. they are right in the eye of the storm. So anxious night for us. we are praying the phone towers/lines hold up so we can contact them. but it's a wait and see thing i suppose. ugh.
Still havent heard from family in cyclone but we know that they have no power, and have checked website and the mobile service is out aswell. Will let you know when we hear anything.
