hi girls. thought it had been quite... turns out i wasn't getting the notifications for some reason lol.

bw - oh that sounds like you are really still finding your feet as a working mum but what you said about Samuel tyring to say his name just made my heart swell. it's those moments isn't it! hang in there... it WILL get easier. you are a working mum - now that is a big ask so be gentle on yourself love.

green - a doc told me that ash might be lactose intolerant and to try him on a thing called Lactese.. apparently you mix breastmilk with it and it helps them digest the milk while they get their tummy enzymes worked out. We didn't try it because my instincts told me that wasn't ash's issue. Hope he starts to feel better soon love.

Acacia - how are you feeling love?

murph - congrats on the move and i just love Jazzy's cheeky little looks lol. Ash isn't a very smiley baby but gives plenty of cheeky looks like Jazzy. lol.

Lenny - lol. I'm not looking forward ot that 'growing up' stage! when they are happy for you to bugger off!

oh and with the crying thing/rod for your back ect. I get to ash before he starts to cry and life is pretty calm here. If i get it right at night he doesn't even really wake up, he just feeds and goes straight back to bed! It's a cross between demand feeding and dreamfeeding lol. Amazing how one squeak and I'm up! But i do tend to think my attentiveness means i don't have a very sooky bub. He really only cries when hes REALLY tired or REALLY hungry.

He seems to know that if he squeaks I'll come and so is happy to squeak for the most part. Mind you i let him have a bit of a 'whinge' the other day as i was in the middle of something in the kitchen and couldn't go to him straight away... he wasn't crying but his whinging was pretty noisy by the time i got there and there were tears!!! OMG talk about feel bad!

Okay best go. sorry i know i've missed lots of you on the persies but we must eat lol. Crup, looks like there's gong to be a very noisy party across the road. brh.

Smithy - in my Baby Love book by Robyn Barker she suggests adding a small amount of sugar to the bottle of formula.....keep doing this until she poos then stop adding it.....I am off to check the amount of sugar......hang tight

Ok Smithy - this author says to try this after you have tried extra water (which you have). She also says to make sure you are making the formula correctly, ie water first then add the powder.

Then she says don't do this for more than 24 hours - one small teaspoon of sugar to each bottle of formula until bubs does a good poo. When she poos, stop the sugar. she says bubs should poo pretty quickly cos it stimulates the bowel and is better than other medications.

She said if it is a crisis, then may need a suppository....you would obviously need to see a doc to do this.

After you sort this prob out you probably need to chat to someone about how to prevent it.

What is the reason she is on the thickened formula?? Also, some of the formulas are iron fortified and iron can bind little babies up.

Big hugs and hope the poor little mite is okay.

Oh, Smithy hun It's awful when your baby is screaming in pain hun. I don't know much about formula but I was going to suggest sugar water, just until she does a poo. You can put about a half teaspoon of brown sugar dissolved in about 4oz of water. I've never done this myself, but I have been told that it can help.

Can you change back to the other formula she was on? Thickened formula can definitely cause or worsen constipation and maybe that's what has happened. It may mean that Charlie goes back to 2-3 hours feeds, but hopefully she won't be constipated and distressed

If it doesn't improve definitely see your GP hun and they might be able to give her something.

In my rush to try and help Smithy, I forgot to say hello to everyone!

Hello everyone, hope all mumma's and bubba's are well.

Adam is 4 months old today. Little cherub.

Smithy you will laugh at this when Charlie is better; when I was looking up my book for you, I was looking up 'Smithy' in the index in the back of the book instead of constipation

You're welcome......I'm just thinking too, a nice warm bath might help her pain and/or a warm face washer on her tummy to ease any pain. Poor little Charlie.
