Welcome back Janie, glad your trip went well!

Green, mate, those ABs are killers for bub's tummy. And he's been on them for a while now, hasn't he, first you then him (is that right)? I hope his problems clear up soon so he can stop them - I'm sure you'll see a massive improvement once he's off the ABs. A was a mess when I was on ABs, but we were lucky as it was only a few weeks.

Molars suck! A's second molars have been moving recently, but still not through. Don't know how long that's goign to take.

Ah, I love talking about pooh! In the first 1-2 months DS poohed every single time he fed. Then it gradually got less and less, till around 5 months he had a few weeks with 1/week, then we started solids and he was back to every 2-3 days. Once he was eating properly, he started going once per day.

On solids, there was an awesome article in a recent edition of the ABA's magazine about baby-led solids. She talked about meeting food and actually starting to eat. So meeting food from birth - ie, they sit with family while family is eating and see the food and see everyone eating. Then as they get older and interested they can reach out and try things if they want, but it's completely at their own pace - they chose what they want and how much. When they're ready to eat, they do, so there's no anxiety about whether they're ready or not, you know? It makes a lot of sense to me. She doesn't set out a particular age, but babies would naturally have to be sitting up and able to get the food and put it into their mouths by themselves.

We kinda did BLS for DS, but also spoon fed him stuff (particualrly when he was a bit older and hungry). We delayed wheat and dairy, but won't next time having read the new guidelines on allergies.

A had a fabulous day yesterday helping daddy in the garden. He even refused to go to the playground he was having so much fun. And he wanted daddy to put him down for a nap and at bedtime - I had such a lovely, lazy day!

i think all the water and the coloxyl drops have really helped as she actually just pooed all by herself with out even crying or making any noise took her to see the clinic nures today and she has put on 300grms.
as for the thickened formula WE DID NOT WATER IT DOWN AT ALL LOL..as we were to worried she wouldnt get all the goodness
AND we even got 5 hrs sleep in one go last night so happy mummy makes happy baby

GREEN, formula isnt really that scary hun as all my girls have been reared on formula and they are all perfect kids,its just this once that ive eva had any problems

Wow everyone is about today.

So her is my bit to add to such an interesting conversation....

Re: pooing... As you know Tara is a FF baby and has had no problem from that end. We always get 1 nappy a day (sometimes 2 if we are lucky) generally in the morning, mid way through her morning feed. DH did the change today and did it too early and after the nappy was off the "Mr Whippy" van arrived again and deposited it all over the change table , lucky I have cloth nappies on the change table for any accidents. I then made him rinse the nappy out and get the soaker bucket organised.

BW: No offence about the solids, and all advice is welcome. The first few times I tried Tara on solids she didn't show any interest but now she will try to grab the spoon and feed herself. I decided to start her as every mealtime she would watch us like a hawk when we ate and copy our mouth movement. Now when she eats she has also learnt how to use her tongue to swallow and not push everything out. So far there have been no adverse reactions for us, but it is interesting about the food allergies. A friend of our's little boy has severe eczema and has been diagnosed with all kinds of food allergies, he still hasn't had solids as yet and he is almost 7 months old. Maybe some kids are more suseptible than others.

Adam had his 4 month immunisations today They were yucky, but he seems fine now. Last time he got quite drowzy so I will watch for that again, especially hearing about KellyD's Tara's symptoms.

I'm coming down with something, very sore throat and headache, hope I don't give it to Adam!!!

Hiya,

thanks everyone for all of your congrats and well-wishes on the job and moving to Kangaroo Island. It's very exciting, but it won't be forever so it's just another experience for us and we aim to come back up to be with family again after not too long . As much as I love it up here, in the middle of the smashing rain, broken ferry cables which left jazz and I stranded for oh gawd, about 8 hours onthe wrong side of the river the other day, (these feckin mossies, sandflies and stifling heat), it's a great time to set our sights on such a totally different climate..plus there's seals and penguins...I'm there!

DH is away at the moment (suffering terrible homesickness for his girls), but he had to give a presentation in Sacramento - the Canberra of the U.S I think When he gets home next week, we pack up, clean up and take off. we are taking a week to travel down by car with the pups..yay...I love a road trip!

Janie, sounds like the trip was everything your lovely man wanted you to have after all you've been through. So glad you all had a great time.

Oh Smithy, what sweet relief for you both. i have been checking out your pics again...so sweet and your older girls are just lovely. you have a really beautiful family. you must still be pinching yourself hey??

grub, i can't remember what you wrote hunny, but i remember thinking (as usual), "me too", Just don't ask what, Iswear i never lost my brain while pg but i am making up for it now,

while jazz is in my arms, can't keep going with persies, so back to everyone's fave subject...moi. I can't even reach the icons cos jazzy's fat head is weighing me down.

we had a therapy session yesterday and it was fun! when i get dpwn south though, i think i will do the therapy via internet out reach. someone asked if it will be easier to get to appointments down there...nup! 45 mons by ferry, then hour and a half t Adelaide and I am no city driver, I'm a country hick. Cairns and townsville are more my style for big city driving and with andy working, I won't be able to get him to drive me so me thinks, stay home and play when I can and just go to the big appointments with Andy when I can for all the cochlear stuff.

Anywho, best go and get the little tike to bed and off my arm....awww, she is so lovely. Ni night from Jazzy.xoxoxo

Hi everyone

Had MG today and we learnt all about baby massage, Tara wouldn't keep still and wanted to roll all over the floor but managed to do some to her anyway. It must have had some effect though as she feel asleep after the massage and since we've been home she had her lunch and bottle and has crashed out.

So I'm gonna get me some natural massage oil and maybe start massaging her to help her sleep during the day.

Mmm, think I'm coming down with something as well... Sore throat, ear ache and headaches. Hopefully something that will pass quickly...

God, ir just took me 10 minutes to find the little wavy man to say hello, talk about procrastination when you're supposed to be studying! Just wanted to say hi.

Adam was fine after his injections, maybe a little drowzy yesterday.

I'm feeling a bit better, just a mild cold.

I'm very upset about my poor dog though, she has torn her cruciate ligament and needs surgery which apparently is only 75% successful, so basically she will never be the same again They told us that she will definitely now develop arthritis in that knee after the surgery if not before. Poor doggie, I love her so much.

Glad to hear Charlie is a trooper pooer Smithy!

thanks for admiring the ticker neptune i finally figured out how to do one with a pic and what better pic than my supremely cool dude lol. that's terrible about your doggie. how old? and good for Adam being good o with his needles. I'm not looking forward to that trip to the docs ... ugh.

I think i have a serious deep-thinker on my hands. but he did attempt a couple of giggles and was all smiles for my BIL who he met this mornning (my sis and him are visiting from FNQ to meet Ash )

how good is the cool change on the east coast??? yyyaayy. bit sticky now but good.

We had a very busy day yesterday... out all day so ash only got snatches of naps.... as a result he konked out at 4.30pm on our bed, i couldn't rouse him at 8pm for a feed so dreeam fed him and he didn't wake up for more till 1.30am! then straight back to bed til 5am for another few hours.

But he's met his aunty and uncle today and a GF came by so it's been a bit of overload and he was only napping, maybe doing an hour... everyone gone now so he's out cold.

But we are well. he's doing that thing were he has max 5 mins on the boob then doesn't want anymore. he was doign so well but all the sudden is fussing again. so i'm not pushing the issue like i usually do and he seems quite content and is doing lots of wet/dirty nappies. it's so confusing as a few days ago he was taking half an hour or more and feeding off both sides very happily. so we'll just keep going and i'll keep sneaking both sides inot him while he's alseep lol.

Yeah Grub, I thought the massage was a bit of a furfy as well but jeez has it made Tara sleep this afternoon.

She slept for 30 minutes at MG, came home had lunch and a bottle and down to sleep for 1 1/2 hours. She woke again starving and had a full bottle and then went back to sleep again and has been there for another 1 1/2 hours so far.

We learnt how to do leg massages and also massage the tummy to help with colic. Although Tara hasn't had colic she is very "farty bum" since starting solids so I think the tummy massage may have helped to relieve some of the wind for her. But hey I'm all for trying anything if it means she sleeps for more than 30-45 minute intervals during the day and also means she doesn't wake up crying because she has a big burp in her tummy.

Smithy: How gorgeous is your Charlie (i looked at your pics) she looks like she is very wise and has been here before. So you could be in for some trouble hehe...

aww kelly thank you hun,you are the 3rd person who has said that she looks like shes been here before wow and its quit freaky actually hun as when coops and i were going through all the ivf he lost his father to cancer and we used to talk to him through falling shooting stars and get him to help us to get a miracle baby so im truely thinking its coops dad in her and his helped us get our wish i really do ,this might sound silly to some but this is what i believe as dont they say for every death a new life is born ,im just so sad that coops dad did not get to see his grand daughter .again hun thank you .

Smithy your story gave me goosebumps, but I do believe that every baby born has a guardian angel looking over them. I'm so happy Charlie has a special angel looking over her as even though your FIL couldn't meet her in person I think that he is with her in spirit.

I'm another one who thinks there is something beyond this life (not sure what though). When I was going through the last IVF cycle, my Mum's partner died and I had to make the hardest decision ever, to keep going with the IVF and not go to the funeral. I did go down to Melb to be with her for the few days after he died and kept taking all my drugs, and then I had to go back up north for my transplant. I felt so terrible and it sounds cliche but I know he would have been so happy for us and wanted us to go through with the IVF so I chose to keep going with it. It was so much more important that this cycle was the one that produced our miracle. She really was the sunshine after the rain. My Mum always says when a door closes, a window opens. I'm not sure I know what that means, but I like the thought of it. It's a lovely story Smithy and I'm sorry your FIL couldn't be around, but I'm sure you feel he is there sometimes.
