I have to say I was very clucky as soon as Xavier was born but then reality sets in or and the hormones settle.
Xavier is getting his follow-up check on his hips today, hopefully they have matured and he wont need a harness and tomorrow we are all off to get our needles. I am going to ask if we can trial losec for his reflux as yesterday I couldnt put him down. He had to be completely upright to be comfortable.
I have a question to ask everyone. How do you sleep your baby?
I know the recomendation is on their back but what if they just wont sleep on their back. I have always sleep Xavier on his tummy during the day and on his back at night when I am asleep, but he wont sleep on his back anymore and I am up every 45 mins resettling him as he wakes after a sleep cycle. He will sleep for hours on his tummy. It has gotten worse as his reflux has gotten worse.

but im going to look at the house tomorrow and the real estate has said if we like it ..then its ours im so so happy as its 6km out of town and just beautiful no neighbours for at least 1km 4 bedrooms plus a study 2 bathrooms 2 big shed for dh and a ensuite for us woohoo hey so tomorrow at 2.30 ill be checking it out wish me luck
Saph, Sam's a tummy sleeper now - and if we don't put him down on his tummy, then he puts himself that way very quickly. It wasn't such an issue when he was younger - he would happily sleep on his back then. Have you tried Xavier on his side? Apart from that, would you feel more comfortable about tummy sleeping if you had a breathing monitor?
BW - we have the breathing monitor, and he sleeps right next to me. The nurse today told me to try sleeping him on his side. Tried that but he screamed until I put him on his tummy. She also said I should try him on infant gaviscon, which he haver in the cupboard for Campbell, but it should only be used under medical supervision under 12 months, so will discuss with doc tomorrow. We had another day of not being able to put him down today his is finally asleep lets hope I get a bit more sleep tonight.
Congrats on Xavier's hips Saph. that must be a load off. It's great ticking off all the seemingly endless tests for problems or potential problems. I know we were totally shocked that along with our hearing tests for Jazz, we needed ECGs, eye tests, hip x-rays and other genetic testing just to rule out other problems and when they come back clear, it's sweet relief hey? Now if only you could get him to sleep. Surely common sense would have to prevail with sleeping him where he is comfortable and there must be ways to do it safely. Sounds like a real tough one. I generally put Jazz on her side if she has just fallen asleep through a feed and is that way already, she goes down really easily, but always goes back to her back. I've never tried the tummy, so I'm no help, but I'm thinking of you and hope you all get relief soon.
Smithy, you little rooty toot!!! Woohoo..Great news girl. You must be so happy. Sounds like the big place we have just moved into which after being in 1 and 2 bedroom houses on the edge of the rainforest the past few years, is pure luxury and we are loving it, even though it's huge on us. lol. You will just love it...no neighbours, you couldn't ask for more. I'm so thrilled for you because I know you were unhappy.
As for me, I'm off to our first therapy session today in Adelaide and my Mum is coming over from Melbourne and we are all having a big family get together at my Auntie's so I am very excited. Mum hasn't seen Jasmine since she was less than 2 weeks old and it's been so hard on us to be apart. she is now moving back to Townsville and we broke the deal moving to the other end of the earth so we have to get in all the visits we can while she is close. She is flying over to be with us for a few days after Adelaide too so I can't wait to see her tonight. Yay!

Grub my Dh is the same re use of things paid for and lots of things sort through scavenging (from friends etc). Thanks for sharing your frostie story too Yes DS sleeps 3x4 hours now at night 7-11 11-3 and 3-7 happy mummy (15-30min feed in there too). Then apauling during the day. Oh I had a lindt bunny for Nanna but last night it disapeared

Marcellus my sore bit is at the front on the side were a stitch was. ouchy still but a bit itchy so fingers crossed it's healing 7 months is ages, I hope not.
KellyD pg at the drop of a hat has down sides, 3 under 3 4 under 5 (that's my friends) they are so tired and would do anything to have had a little more time in there, before DS I was so envious but now I'm happy it's my call. Well done on organising mums group too.
Saph Linc sleeps in a woombie (sleepsack cos he get's out of wraps) inbetween wedges on his side (I know I know not SIDS recomended but with a windy baby it works better) in a bassinet (for a bit longer) dark room radio on LOUD. Great about Xaviers hips too

OK yesterday was a horror. DSS was suposed to watch Linc who was stiring for 5 minutes while his dad got home and I went for a wax, well I gave him instructions about it's time for a feed etc. DH got home DSS went to his room said nothing. DH though Linc was due for a sleep and when I got home an hour and a half later Linc wasn't feed histerical! OMG. We fed Linc ASAP and DH ripped into DSS, I was so mad but just stayed quiet. He said "I was only going to tell DH if he asked!" because that's what I said. OMG. Did you not hear the screams and did you not think to open your mouth.
So no more baby sitting for DSS and notes will be left for DH. I really was ****ed off though. I also think DH needs to chat to DSS NOW re his feelings I do think he is jelous or something, this is so out of his normally helpful nature.
Linc then was up from 4.30-7.30pm didn't want to sleep, so I just went with it put him on his play mat, he ate double and spewed up but was still hungrey I guess over hungrey. But then got back into his pattern of 4x3 hoour waking. 7am is so much more civilised.
He also seams to go down like a dream at night pat pat out like a light but during the day OMG pat pat sleep, then ahhhhhhhh in his bed, dummy in then ahhhhhhhh with the dummy in, pick up pat pat etc for about 5 mins then out. Who knows what's going on in his head.
oh green your little boy seems to be settleing a lot now ,what a good bubba boy any sleep is better than none hey lol AND DSS wellllllll i think to me it sounds like he really needs a swift kick up the back side (how old is he hunny ?) jelouse or not there is no exscuse as im sure you and dh would give him just as much attentions as linc so maybe he just needs to grow up a bit as this is the boy linc will be looking up to his big brotherhope dh has a chat to him hun and all calms down a bit with him
