mad B: woohoo, on deciding to do something with your frosties, mine are still in the freezer waiting,,....yes we have decided that when the time is right we will use our frosties but no more IVF after that, so if we dont get a baby that is it. i am happy with that as i feel i have my amily now even if it is all boys...lol. good luck to you. make sure to keep us posted as to what is happening. :-)
TT40: our bill for our 6 babies in the freezer is $ 200 a year , which they let me pay off, so i dont mind that. its a hard one when to decide to go back again, and every mum is different. you've just gotta do what you feel is right.... i don't recommend a 9 year gap like i had but 2 or 4 years is good. make the most of your precious daughter ... good luck
AFM: yes almost 1 year has gone very fast! ..... my baby doesn't look like a baby now but a little boy already
TT - you still need to have a cycle, yeah, so you'll need af. You just don't need to ovulate yourself - so good for those with dodgy ovaries. It also allows you to coast along if the first embryo doesn't thaw - you can wait for the next in a sort of hormonal holding pattern. That won't work if you do a natural or stimulated cycle.
I was flicking through a book in the library the other day and came across a page that reckoned, biologically, a roughly 2.5-4 year age gap was most ideal. I didn't read any more so don't know what evidence they had of this.
Congrats Janie! Hope all is well and you're getting lots of sleep
Re frozen embryos, we're not sure what to do though it's still early days really. We only have one so initially we thought we'd transfer and see how we go. But DS2 is such an ATROCIOUS sleeper - I'm talking ALL sleeps on me and only 45 mins at a time, day or night - that I honestly don't know if I could cope with a third. But the thought of donating our embryo to research (which was our original plan when we had our IVF counselling and they asked this question), well now that we have children, I just don't know if we can do it. We'll see...
That sounds very rough lise! With both of mine I never contemplated even trying before 18 months - only then were we getting a few hours at a stretch. Too tired to even think about conceiving, never mind starting over with a new baby! I'm sure it's not always the case, but I wonder if those parents who have kids close together must get the babies that sleep
Hope it's not too much longer before you get some better sleep!
We had discussed donating any spares to another couple. then we had DS and we pretty much dismissed that idea. I'm still ok with lab research - I figure it's only a potential baby and it may as well - indirectly at least - help some other parents conceive. I think DH would prefer they succumb. But it doesn't really matter since we'll be using them up most likely.
OMG Saffy CONGRATULATIONS!!! A precious little girl, so very happy for you!
How is everything going? I have hardly had a chance to sit down at the computer since my DD was born so apologise for missing your news . Yeah DD is nearly 11 months now and i still pinch myself everyday that she is actually here!
