Devon, we're scarily close to the end now, but I'm REALLY hoping my little Munchkin decides he wants out early - I'm just so impatient!

On this end of things... I'm having lots of trouble with my feet swelling and Munchkin keeps wanting to climb up into my ribs and stop me breathing (also contributing to my desire for a slighly earlier birth!).

We had the first of our antenatal classes yesterday... was a bit freaky because I found myself sitting next to the only other woman in the room who'd used IVF to get pregnant. Her baby also has a single umbilical artery and she was promised a little one around 18 weeks, and now looks like having a monster baby like me. At least there was someone I had something in common with, but it was freaky to have so much in common with her! I expected a little more of the "delivery suite tour" than just being shown the room... and then we saw a placenta... I was already feeling hot and woozy so had to sit down, and the meat smell was kinda overpowering (you can tell I'm still not cooking!) but overall I was struck by the fact that it was smaller than I expected.

Only one more week to go until work is finished... :dance:... and then the seemingly long wait for Munchkin to decide he's ready to meet us...

Dusty- So excited to see you here. These girls are GREAT and are full of knowledge. If you don't have time to read "Up The Duff", don't worry..someone here always has answers and great advice. Am so over the moon for you.

All my other friends..thankyou again as always for your support. Am still having a hard time. Still losing old blood which is freaking me out. Am going to call my OB tomorrow to see if I can have a scan to make sure the little ones are safe and happy.

Sorry for not doing personals...still not in the best place.

So with Us:
We are 23 weeks today :cheer: and 4 months till Miss Charlotte makes her arrival. DH has fully started working on my side of the business so I think I will move into career coaching ASAP. After 10 years in Recuitment I think I have reached my limit with Recuitment and 2 parties at each end that can change thier mind at anytime. So I have 10 boxes packed for the move and all my pre maternity clothes are packed away.

Looking forward to moving into the new house putting up the tree and feeling like it is Christmas. Then Charlottes room can be underway. Think I have been a bit grumpy and moody this week but you know what that it is all part of it and with work, moving and being PG I think I am allowed some grumpy me time :)

Well Charlotte has a full wardrobe and her cot is on the way thanks to littlemisshavachat picking it up for me :clap: So we need a change table and I think we are almost there! :leap:

DW - So glad you have joined this thread! I know what you mean re tempting fate, but you have made a leap of faith and that is what counts!

Belly rubs to BG, numa, M2C, alloy and every1 else i have missed!

AFM: 12 wks and looks like tummy is really poking out! Had Xmas party and my boss asked if I wanted him to include my news. I thought was great idea as saved me having to tell every1. So he added it to the end of the speech and every1 was screaming in excitement and there were tears, even made me all teary and emotional! Was really nice and overwhelming. It was funny how many people had already suspected I was, but the twins bit was really exciting for every1! I felt really special!!! So great weekend! We were spoilt. Lots of nice food (and alcohol which couldnt drink). Despite m/s and throwing up was good. Glad to be home though!

Hi girls, i have been lurking on here reading everyone's posts. It wasnt that long ago where i was in the same place!! Good luck to everyone and enjoy this really special time in your lives. Make sure you take lots of belly pics and take in every moment.
To the girls having twins, enjoy your quiet time (!!!) and have fun with it. Also remember to prepare early!!

Missc: the 18th woah that is so close now and how great to have CB for christmas :dance: It sounds like the whole thing is coming together for you now, i really hope all teh self induction things work for you, good luck and thinkin of you!
TL: so exciting (and of course painful) gotta love the cervix kicks :lol: you sound like your all organised and now ifeel really guilty Hope the move isnt to draining and you can get in and start on Charlottes room (i really love the name Charlotte, it just gorgeous)
Dusty: it is just great to see you in here, huge congrats and hope that little one is snuggling in nice and tight, well done!!!
Devon: you sound sooooo like me ;) youd think now as big as we are it would register that maybe were not quite up to doing the things were use too. DH favourite saying at the moment is "well you are 8 monthes pregnant!!!" Id say try and take it easy but i would feel like the biggest hypocrit :rolleyes:
Nicole: sounds like little kicks to me!!!! very exciting and what a great idea with the snow globes that is too cute.
BW: bizzare about the placenta, did they have it in the fridge or something??

Well the parties over thankfully, it really was exausting, we planned an early one as mostly it was families so we started a 4 in the avo and everyone except 3 "younger" friends were gone by 10.30, well they hung around till 1 in the morning and then i had to drive them home, DH did his drunken stelth :rolleyes: into bed when noone was looking. So im still trying to catch up on sleep (BEWARE BIG WINGE COMING) as my aching hips, horrendous heartburn, agonising pelvis, snoring husband and the not so little jumping bean in my belly are set on keeping me awake all night, Oh and did i mention the 50 toilet trips!!!!! (OK IM FINISHED LOL) The pelvic pain is becoming really bad it was so hard to get about yesterday and i dont think the strap is doing much i may have to go to a physio i think. Bring on some hot weather so i can live in the pool.

Tiggerlinda - 4 months to go....I'm only 4 weeks behind you. For some reason it feels like there is much more of a gap between our due dates - don't know why....

Dusty - How are you travelling? Are you not having an early scan at around the 7 week mark? Is that a personal choice or is that FS choice?

BW - The tour we got of the birthing suite etc sounds pretty similar to yours (minus one placenta). Pretty much just looked around and then got to ask questions. Lucky for me there were a heap of ladies there, most who were on their 2nd or 3rd so they asked really good questions.

Miss C - The count down truely is on for you...best of luck with everything.

Nicole S - For me the bubba kicks feel more like someone flicking a finger lightly inside my belly. It's weird, hey?

Mon - Great news about your work announcement. I almost cry at everything at the moment. The guys at the sandwich place I go to take super-extra care when they are making my lunch and it's just so sweet. Example - Egg & salad sandwish - they go and wash their knives, wash the egg slicer and then go get me a fresh egg to put on the sandwich. All without me asking to - I almost cry while they are making my lunch. Psycho....

Bel - Hope things start to calm down soon - you deserve to be cut some slack after this crazy start to motherhood.

Scooby - whinge away. I can't really relate to the doing too much thing though, I'm all about the couch at the moment.

M2C - How are you going? Have things calmed down yet?

Hippy mum - can't remember if you said or not - are you booked in for a 12 week scan? Or did you say you were holding off til 18 - 20 week? You managed to get away from your hideous GP yet?

Belly rubs to everyone else i have missed! I'm in struggle town trying to keep up.....

AFM - I wish the baby would go a bit harder cause I haven't felt anything for a couple of weeks and it is starting to worry me. I'm sure it's fine (anterior walled placenta - so it's like punching a bag for the wee one I guess) 19 week scan next Wednesday. Leaving the sex of the baby to fate. If we see, we see if we don't, we don't. We're going to ask that they don't point it out to us.

I can't really do anything with the baby's room yet because we;re getting floors sanded in Mid Jan and then new kitchen 1st week in Feb. After the floors are done I'm laughing and should be able to get carpet in the bedrooms and get things underway, but until the baby's room is storage room. *sigh*. It's prbably a blessing in disguise anyway. It will help the last 4 months go by a bit quicker.

Happy Mel - wow your twins are 8 months old! I would love any tips and hints! I want to be prepared psychologically. Do you have a blog?

Scooby - glad the party is over for your sake. Sorry to hear about your pelvis, that must be tough. One of my colleagues suffered with that last year when she was expecting her girl and also said the belt didnt help that much. I say bring on the hot weather so you can get some pool time in. Can you seek out a heated pool in the meantime?

Nixon - I also have had that exact same sensation - finger flicking me from inside. It happened the other morning and happened a couple of weeks ago a couple of times. I thought it was stretching, but if it is the bubbas I am so excited!!!! My boss's colleague is also expecting her first bubba and she is 33 wks and she also has her placenta at front, so she said that she cant feel the baby as much because of it either. She said that even though she feel bubs moving inside her, my boss never really gets the chance to feel the bubs from the outside.

Possums - hope all is well with you hun!

Me just toddling along. 3 more sleeps till Nuchal Scan! Still nauseas and still having a morning chuck. Am hoping it will subside once I hit 2nd trimester!

Hi All,

Hope you are all well. We had our 24 week check up this morning and everything is going great. I have no signs of pre-eclympsia (which was what my sister had at this stage of her pregnancy), so that is a relief. My fundus is now up at the bottom of my sternum - no wonder I have started feeling a little breathless at times. Baby and uterus have grown nicely and the best thing is that the baby is pretty much at a viable stage now... don't want to sound weird or anything, but this really makes me feel good. Knowing that if the worst was to happen there is a chance that my baby would survive is actually a comforting thought to me. Don't get me wrong, I would be beside myself if baby came early. Anyhoo - not sure if that really makes sense to anyone else. So next appointment (28 weeks) and GD test are booked in for 5th January 2009 which is when we start seeing the OB every 2 weeks - wow I can't believe that we are moving into that stage of our pregnancy very shortly. My husband is Type 1 diabetic, so I have occassionally been testing my BSL and it is perfect, so am hoping it remains that way!

Dusty - Yay! So glad to see you have come over to this thread.

Mon - GL with the nuchal scan - I am sure that you will love getting to have a nice look at your bubs.

Congrats Janie - I understand what you are saying :-)

Mon - Yep my Ob said that was about the right sensation. Almost like if you pulled your t-shirt away from your skin 1 or 2 cms and gave a light finger flick so that you feel it connect with the skin, but it doesn't sting like it can when it's nail on flesh. It's the best wayI can think to describe it. I've had it a couple of times low and on the right.

Janie - I completly understand I am counting down the days till my 24 week visit
Mon - 3 sleeps sweetie so will you be like me no sleep the night b4 :lol:
Nixon - 4 weeks apart wow we are quite close :)

Me! All of a sudden. I was feeling really good for a few weeks there and the last 3-4 days I've been really tired. Really hoping I'm just having a few off days and I'll be back to feeling good again.

Janie, glad to hear your check up went well and there's no sign of PE. I also understand what you're saying about being at the viable stage. I've been thinking the same thing myself lately as I'm almost there as well.

BW, enjoy your last week at work - if you can! You must be well and truly over it by now. Hope you're able to cruise through it without too many dramas!

Devon, reading your post had me tired! lol At least you know when you have done too much. I'm only 21 weeks, and I would struggle with all that you did!! lol

On saturday I went and did my usual pregnancy exercise class at the hospital and the physio was kind enough to put on an extra class afterwards for partners to come along to that was all about positions you could use during labour and birth, and ways your partner could support you etc. She also went through relaxation and we tried out the TENS machines. She ran the class because apparently the ante natal classes at my hospital don't focus on positions and show a birth video thats about 20 years old. The session went for over 2 hours, so I was there for over 3 hours and then we went to ikea and spent another 2 hours there before going home to sleep! Two days later I'm still recovering. So tired and exhausted at the moment. hoping it passes soon.

Megan, I wonder if that's the same video we saw on Saturday. If it was, we spent more time giggling over the outrageous 80s fashions than anything else and didn't really get much out of it at all. There was another that dealt with positions, but they said there's not much use as we'll forget it all when we're in labour and again - outrageous 80s fashions. The 80s really have a lot to answer for!

Two more days with kids, four more days at work... I'm so over work and pretty much over being pregnant! I'm starting to wonder if I can encourage this kid to get out early and wondering if I can convince labour to start on Saturday afternoon after part 2 of the antenatal classes... Munnhkin just feels so huge and heavy and I really don't know that this body can stretch any further!

sorry to hijack again just need a little advice and didnt want to make a thread

had another bt today and just a little worried about the levels:rolleyes:

tuesday last week i had a bt and it came back at 697

today they came back at 2251

is this level ok?? i thought the levels double every 48hrs?? if thats the case then mine are a little short :(

oh god i just got over all the bleeding and even now its not fully gone, the last thing i need is for my levels to start doing silly things :wall:

m2c - i did a fair bit of reading when another long termer was having issues with HCG rising - essentially what we worked out (from LOTS of googling) was that, provided your numbers are rising by at least two third every 48-72 hours, it's within the realms of normal. your levels are more than doubling every 72 hours, so it's looking ok hun. the doubling every 48 hours is a guide, not a rule.

hopefully you get a scan soon (tell them you're prepared to have an internal cos at this stage they may not see a lot from the outside) and you'll see a heart beat from there - and if you see that heartbeat DON'T get any more bloods - after about 6 weeks, bloods are unreliable!
