BW I hope your last day with the kids went OK! Hope your last 2 days fly by...
:bellyrubs: to everyone
Hi ladies
just a quick one from me this morning - i'm sure i'll come back and waffle more later but thought i'd get this out seeing i didn't get to post yesterday (talk about BB withdrawals!)
anyway - seen Ob for first time yesterday - have realised that it's at least a 45 minute trip to the hospital where i'll be birthing - yay! that's gonna be fun in labour! Ob was great. BP was normal for the first time whole pregnancy - not borderline high this time! woot! urine was clear of everything, so looks like UTI is gone (which sounds about right - ab's are starting to give me thrush now so they must be done fighting the bad things!). he tok a really thorough history, actually LISTENED when i said about some of the things concerning me (insulin resistance/impaired gluose tolerance in the past, the fact i can feel if my sugars get to low etc) - is sending me for the extended GTT next week, which is about 10 hours early but given my history, he'd rather do it early - if all is good with that one, i'll have the normal one at 26ish weeks. he did a brief scan just to check the gremlin - no measurements, but he let us hear the heartbeat which was amazing, and printed a piccie of our little alien-faced baby - for some reason, this kidlet doesn't like giving profile shots! much less movement yesterday so we think maybe Gremlin was sleeping and only squirmed cos it was being disturbed!
he talked to us about braxton hicks contractions (did anyone else realise you get them even when not pg - and that all those on again off again pains early in pregnanccy are BH - i sure didn't! i thought it was more something that happened late in pregnancy!). he then said something that made me have a lot of respect for him. he told me that EVERY baby is precious, he doesn't subscribe to the idea that AC babies are more precious because every baby is a miracle - but he understands the emotional scarring from LTTTC so if i needed the kid gloves at any point, all i had to do was tell him. it's not the baby that needs different treatment, it's us. it's something i've thought a lot, but to hear the Ob say it was fantastic - we're on the same page!
some other stuff we talked through - IF i have GD that can't be controlled with diet, he won't put me back on oral meds like i've been on for the PCOS - it's something that isn't as yet proven to work, and his preference is to use something he knows will work as its better for the baby. he didn't discount the impact, just said he'd rather see more positive results before he risked any baby, and he hoped i'd be ok with that. as i said, i've jabbed myself enough, so if i have to have insulin shots, so be it. he then said if GD does develop, i'll be scanned at each visit - but said it wasn't about baby size, it's about checking blood flow to baby as GD can impact functionality of the placenta. size is not a big drama - a big baby can still be birthed - a baby with a failed placenta that isn't identified may not survive. OMG - he was so helpful. he talked a lot (we were warned of this) - but it wasn't about talking down to us, it was about making sure we were comfy with his philosophies and were ok with him as a doctor. for all the stress before hand, i have no drama putting this pregnancy in his hands
and to top it off, before we left, he said simply - we're not talking birth options for a long time yet - if you develop GD we might have to intervene, but i'm hoping we find you in hospital in natural labour in about 25 weeks time. yay - an ob that prefers natural progression of labour! woo hoo!
ok, so maybe it wasn't quick - but it was very self absorbed - sorry!
WOW BG what an OB!! Sorry to many capitals...but i am so impressed. Lucky you hun.
Love HM xoxox
BG sounds like a great OB to Me well done to you and him
Hello all,
Just thought I'd make my first post here and say 'hi'! I hope I'm here long enough to get a handle on who is here and where everyone is at. Our P4 came back yesterday at 190, so inital test was hcg325/P4 190...all good. Repeat test is tomorrow so :crossfingers: that all is going ok. Our 6wk scan is on the 24th Dec...so will either be a really good or really bad xmas!
All became real yesterday when had to book into OB - only had one choice...but at least have we have an appointment. We see him at 8wks (have to go early due to the APLS).
No really pg symptoms yet - although have a shocking cold and cough! But really wishing BB would get sore, or MS would rear its ugly head so I know that this little one is sticking!
FG
FG - don't wish MS on yourself! it's horrid! low grade nausea is tolerable - and sore bb's are good - the rest you don't want if you can avoid it!
good luck with tomorrow's BT - and with upcoming appointments - it sounds like you're finally on the right path with treatment to get you to stay pg which is fantastic news!
BG
Welcome FG. Wishing you all the best for the next 8 or so months.
Fg - Congrats the MS will arrive before you know it stay postive it will be a good Christmas
Congratulations FG! I understand the wanting for symptoms to kick in - they can be reassuring, but believe you me, a few months of MS will cure you of that need!
Janie xxx
PS Just realised that I only have 9 more days and I am at the 100 day mark! WOW!
BG, good luck with your GTT next week. Don't forget to take a snack for afterwards! I forgot and I was feeling awful by the time I got to work as I hadn't eaten for 15 hours and of course your BSL's go right up with the drink and then come crashing down!
Congrats FG on your pregnancy. I can understand you wanting m/s for some reassurance, but really you don't want it! ;)
I have been getting lots more movement which I love. Last night I felt two really big kicks when I was in bed and actually felt it strongly from the outside. I woke DH so he could feel and then Buddy went all quiet again. DH gave up trying to feel, so I rolled over and then Buddy decided to have a party! Poor DH, I hope he's not taking it personally!!
Woo Hoo FG glad to see you have joined the Party and congrats again on your BFP :happyforyou:
Your levels sound great!!
YAY!!! Great to see you in here Farmgirl!!
Hi ladies
Thanks so much for your lovely words.
BG you made me quite teary when I read your post! You're on the home stretch now...
FG we have the same EDD!
BG, good luck with your GTT.. hope you pass with flying colours. And what a wonderful OB you have found. That must be a weight off your mind knowing that he is treating you as an individual and actually listening to you.
Megan, feeling your baby move must be an amazing experience. I hope DH gets to feel it soon too.
To everyone else, sorry for lack of personals, I really haven't got my head around everyone in this thread yet, but I hope to be popping in most days if I can.
Just a quick update on me, and a question...
I couldn't get onto BB at all last night to tell you that I gave in and P'ed OAS again - yep, still a BFP which is reassuring, because I had such a weird day symptoms wise yesterday. The pg book I am reading described the feeling as 'pelvic congestion' which is exactly what I felt, along with a headache, weird aches and pains, a rigid and bloated stomach, sore BBs and a little queasy. But today, the ocassional twinge, slightly sore BBs every now and then, but that's it! What's going on? Is this normal from anyone else's experiences? Or am I over analysing everything despite me trying to be calm and positive??
Anyway, hi to everyone and thankyou for the wonderful support.
xx
Cheryl - in the early weeks, it is quite common to feel EVERYTHING one day and nothing the next - it's also damn scary! i know a number of us have been through strong ms and bb pain some days, absolutely nothing the next - and panic set in each time!
at the stage you're at now, your body is only just starting to get used to the idea of the hormones - they're still rather low in levels (hcg climbing, progesterone sorta climbing but not as much) and you're likely to have good days and bad days. i found nothing bad hit until six weeks (and i haven't eaten pizza since then!) - and then around 7.5 weeks it went away for a few days to the point i thought it was over. came back again and has been consistent in it's comings and goings ever since. fortunately (psychologically, not physically) i've had 10 weeks of fairly consitent 24/7 nausea - i do have good days, but the bad still outweigh the good!
thinking of you hun
BG
Hey girls, haven't been able to find time to post for a few days.
Firstly, huge, huge huge congratulations to Chez and Farmgirl :happyforyou: :happyforyou: such wonderful news!!! Wishing you both wonderful pregnancies! Wow, there are certainly great things happening this year! I wonder who else will be in here before the end of the year?
Miss_c - Oh cripes! I just realised how close we are to the 18th!! How are you feeling hun? Excited I bet! How are all your techniques for getting CB ready going? I hope you feel s/he's getting prepared to make his or her entrance. I'm so excited for you!
Scooby - sorry the pelvic pain is getting the better of you. I get it quite badly if I try to do too much. But the weather is definitely looking pool-worthy for this weekend, so I hope you get to have some nice swims.
Nixon - I've also got an anterior placenta, and I wasn't sure of movements until really late, although looking back I realise that I was feeling them. Don't worry, you'll be getting kicked like mad before you know it!
Mon - was your NT scan today hun? If so, I hope all went well.
Janie - great to hear that all is going well, and I hope your blood sugars continue to behave themselves!
BW - is it your last day of work tomorrow? How fantastic!! I just finished this afternoon, and I can't believe that I've finished. I hope your last day goes well.
m2c - I hope you're doing OK and feeling better about your BTs. Best of luck for your scan tomorrow, I'm sure that everything will be great, and you'll be so relieved.
LNB - best of luck for your BT tomorrow, not too long till your 12 week scan, I hope it's here before you know it.
Dusty - ah, the countdowns! I spent my first 20 weeks counting down to something. I hope that the week passes quickly and when you get to see that gorgeous heartbeat a lot of the anxiety will pass. It's great to pass each of those milestones, and I'm certain that all will be fine.
BG - great to hear that your OB appointment went so well, that must be a huge relief. Great to hear the UTI seems to be under control as well, hope the thrush stays well away. Best of luck for your GTT next week, hopefully all will be fine.
TL - the photo voucher sounds great, it'll be wonderful to have professional belly photos at 7 months!
Megan - great that you're getting some really definite kicks, but poor DH! That happens to my DH too. I think the baby can sense the pressure of DH's hand going onto my belly, and goes quiet.
Sorry to everyone I've missed, I hope you're all feeling great!
As for me, I finished work today!! It feels really weird, and I think it's going to bring home that this is really happening, and very soon too. It'll be great to be able to have an afternoon nap if I need to. I'm also really proud of myself - had Ob checkup on Tuesday and there was no sugar in my urine, and pin pr*ck test showed good blood sugar levels. I've also lost half a kilo on my low-GI diet, and Ob said baby's size is looking closer to dates than it was last time (although still ahead). I feel like it's a real achievement, I've been so good with my diet after my GD scare, and if I can keep going like this, it should put a stop to all the 'your baby is too big, early induction' talk that was looking like starting. So all in all, a pretty good week!

Thanks for your reply BG. That is a huge relief... I guess I am just being extra paranoid at the moment, but I haven't had any spotting at all, which my AP said to expect over the next week or so. Now time to put my feet up for a bit!
xx
Devon!!!! Well done you....that is great news. Watching your diet is a huge discipline and you are on the right track hun. That just warmed my heart to see your comfort and success with turning a situation around.
Congrats hun, great news!
FG- Welcome and Congrats hun...lots of wonderful times to come.
Merry Christmas everyone and belly rubs to you all!!
Love hM xoxoxo
