BG- very sweet and I can imagine the flood of emotion. Just wanted to ask, i know you are in public care, due to the area you are in also, and just wondering how many scans you have...when are regular scans scheduled?...just not sure what to expect if we make it past 12 weeks this time. Might ask my midwife about that

Bel- hello lovely! glad all is going so well

    Nicole- glad lots of movement

smithy- hope to see you here very soon!

afm- just hanging out for the next scan now...a week to go..debating whether to get a doppler to use later on

Possums - i have had to pay for my "big" scans at private providers. i was given a freebie at Ob appt at 15 weeks, doppler scan with GP at 20 weeks and will get another scan with Ob next week - basically they check you where they can. Because mine was an AC pregnancy, i have had major scans so far at 5.5 week. 8.5 weeks. 12 weeks, 19 weeks... my ob has said he will continue with reassuring scans when i'm there, and if i DO happen to develop GD, he'll do placenta function scans more frequently. we're also choosing to have a 4d scan at around 28 weeks

Nicole - braxton hicks perhaps? I've been feeling something for since about 16 weeks - every time I'm at OB I forget to ask about them. Feels like a tightening across my belly under belly button. Lasts 20 - 30 seconds and usually goes away if I move. From what I can make out from various websites it sounds like BH - doesn't hurt at all - just weird.

Yeah Nic, it's a really weird feeling. When I touch my belly in that spot it dosen't feel hard on the outside just on the inside. Will check with my OB when I see him tomorrow.

    BG- thanks for that

I am again rattled this afternoon because that lady I mentioned yesterday who is pregnant, just popped into the office and telling everyone about it...and she was going on to me about how exciting it is (and it is good for her of course)...it's just that she knew all about everything we experienced last year and the IVF because we worked closely together...and yet she seemed oblivious to that and not sensitive to it at all ...and she doesnt know I am pregnant right now. I know it's not a huge thing, it just all sits wrongly with me. Extra hormones and emotions dont help I guess. just venting.
She'd just had her first scan today at just over 4 months...I feel that is also reflective or her very laid back approach to the whole thing (as opposed to some particular reason for avoiding scans)

Possums- GGGRRRRR! That would all be driving me bonkers! I think you are being really good just listening. I hope you have a little smile in your heart though when looking at her and listening to her babble on, thinking about little "Hope" growing nicely in your tummy. Now as for the doppler, I think they are just amazing. I love being able to hear the little heartbeats when i am feeling a little down or scared. Just be prepared to get addicted though!!!

Possums - I think we need to accept that people who have not experienced AC or LTTTC are a bit oblivious to us and the things that have happened to us to get here. My best friend could not understand why I wasn't shouting the pregnancy from the roof tops at 6 weeks along - even attempting to explain to her I could see she had no clue as to why I was cautious and a bit withdrawn from the rest of my normal life - and we're talking my best friend here not just someone I worked with.

I have people telling me not to worry so much about what I eat (I won't eat ham or salami - so sue me) and telling me that listeria is really rare blah blah blah. So what - I didn't go through what I went thru to risk even the slightest possibility that I will put the bub in danger especially not for the sake of a piece of processed pigs trotters, ears and tails.

The best advice I can give you is treat her and her pregnancy like elevator music. Ignore it. I mean really, who cares? What's important is you and your baby. You can be angry at the powers that be who decide who it will be easy for and who it will be hard for, but what it comes down to is that there is not a single thing you can do to change the way things are and you know what...When you have Hope in your arms I doubt you would change a single thing. Not trying to sound like I'm giving you tough love here, but focus on you and your baby. When she comes to tell you her preggo stories - go to your happy place in your mind. Think about Hope, nod politely, say yes no and ahhh at the appropriate places and remember that you have a natural miracle growing inside you. Also, you get to announce that you have managed what some of us will never be able to do and that is conceive naturally - it will be a great story to tell when you do finally get to make your announcement in 3 weeks time. :-)

Or you could just tell her to sod off and that you are not interested in hearing about it :-P

Bel and Nixon- you guys are the best. Thanks so much for the good wise advice. And you are right...i will just keep nodding and smiling as I have been and withdraw from it and think of our own little miracle.

Nixon- I too am slowly realised people don't and never will really get it unless they have been there. This particular woman was also one of those who kept telling me not to stress last time, when I was worried about things- to just relax...things will be fine..too many tests are bad...blah blah. anyway, thanks for your perspective...it is the way it is.

As an aside, a friend of mine just went through her first stim cycle...and it's been a bit tough, because we thought we'd be going through the cycle together, then of course i fell pregnant. Now she has been overstimulated...they got 24 eggs...only 4 were mature and have fertilised, but it means no fresh transfer due to the overstimulation, for at least 8 weeks. I think at least I can talk to her about it and hopefully provide understanding, because I do get it. Her experience also reminds me all the time how blessed we have been to have this pregnancy.

H Girls, really quick one.....New kitchen is AWESOME. Not complete yet, but love it. Spent last night watching american idol and then standing in the new kitchen during the ad breaks. HAHAHA. DH asked me whho I love best him, the kitchen or our cat. I told him that he and the new kitchen are tied first place at the moment.

    good morning ladies!

possums - some people are just olivious i think, when me and DF found out last time we werent expecting a bub his boss who was also expecting brought in the 4d ultrasound DVD to show my DF!!! only 1 week after! i think some ppl truly dont understand as they are lucky enough to have textbook conceptions and pregnancy's. but i like the comment on think of it as "elevator music" i think that is great advice!

BEL- im so glad you are back, i remember in the LTTTC assisted conception forum when i just joined in there i always looked up to you and thought u were like the mama of the group and i feel so priveleged to be preg with you, almost like i got it too easy! we were starting IUI this year and a month before our FS appointment walla! you are an inspiration! just a question did you ever suspect you might have twins oneday? i also remember u saying u KNEW that it was you and DH's cycle and it was!!!

smithy - HEY!! ive missed you!!! hope your FET in march goes well i will be following you! also you are very brave to come in here, its hard seeing all the tickers and longing to join i know you will be in here in march though!!!

AFM - im 8 weeks on monday and have had no pain or bleeding so im feeling a little more confident as majority of losses happen before then but wont be entirely confident until i have the scan, im waiting til approx 12 weeks but i feel strangely calm so i hope its a good sign! i am also attempting to go grocery shopping this evening but i have my bowl in the car all ready to go!

    Hi Everyone -

So much happening in here ! I pop in everyday but don't find the time to post everyday. Super busy at work which I actually love but it is taking up a lot of mental energy at the moment.

I hope all the ladies in Melbourne are staying cool - can you believe this weather? I feel for anyone that is in their 3rd tri in this heat.

Glad to hear that everyone is doing well, will try and catch up on personals this week.

AFM - all seems to be okay. Our OB has been away for 3 weeks so our next appt is on Tuesday which will be 18.2 weeks and we are having our anatomical scan, which I think is normally done at 20 weeks but with him being away, he wanted to get us back into a 4 week cycle and said it is okay to do now. Only 3 sleeps until the scan and starting to feel nervous, we haven't had anything since the 12 week scan but feeling and looking pg! MS is still hanging around but fortunately only in the morning which is bearable.

    to everyone,

    Take care,
    LNB

LNB, I had my scan at 18w5d and it was fine. That just happened to be when the receptionist booked me in going from my dates. When I got there the technician thought it would be too early, but it wasn't. It was all good and she managed to get everything she needed.
As for the heat, it was good to get a bit of relief today but the house is still hot and stuffy from the last few days even though we are lucky enough to have aircon, and I've had my first case of cankles this week! Hope the swelling goes down soon.

    Hi Megan -

Thanks for your note - I was a big worried about going 18W and not 20W but you have reassured me !

The relief from the heat was good today but we don't have AC but lucky that our house is an old Edwardian with double brick so it stays amazing cool. I just checked the forecast and it looks like 38- 40 again next Friday and Saturday - ugh.

Hope the swelling goes down soon.

    Take care,
    LNB

LNB, best of luck for your scan on Tuesday and am sure bubs will put on a show for you.
Are you going to find out the sex??

AFM, saw OB on Friday and all is tracking well. Seeing him again in 4 weeks then we start seeing him very two weeks!! I can't believe how time is really starting to fly.
