Wish my MIL would stop comparing me to SIL!!

Just wanted to have a little rant in here about my MIL continually comparing my pregnancy to my SIL's 3 pregnancies! MIL asked me the other day how I was going with my BP, (we haven't been telling her much, because she can't keep her mouth shut, so she is having to ask for info from us) and I told her about our OB appointment, how he said it was on the high end of the normal scale, that it will just continue to go up and we will deal with it when it happens.

Then she starts to tell me that it will be alright, because SIL (as in BIL's wife) had high blood pressure with ALL her pregnancies (all 3 of them) and she was fine! It was like, because SIL had no problems then I won't, because she is the basis for everyone else! Can't they just accept that we've been through so much, that the thought of 'what if's' is pretty scary for us! I don't like being made to feel like I shouldn't be allowed to whinge because I did IVF so therefore I should be grateful, I don't like being made to feel like I am whinging full stop!

She is forever comparing me to other people, when we told them about us doing IVF, she mentioned SIL and BIL and how "when they were told they would have to do IVF".... like they had so much in common with us because they TTC #2 for 6 months then told their doc that they had been trying for over 12 months, had all the tests and lap done to be told that nothing was wrong with either of them and if they wanted more children after having tried for over 12 months, they should do IVF, then they got pregnant by themselves anyway! Another 2 times!

Yes, I'm sure my SIL and BIl could sympathise with DH and I, how we were going through the emotions of all the drugs, injections, hoping there were some follies, hoping they met with the swimmers and became beautiful embryo's for us..

I'm sick of my MIL comparing our TTC and IVF journey and now our pregnancy with my SIL and BIL who whinge about their kids all the time! Aargh..

Sorry, just needed to get it out. Feel so much better..anyone else want to have a whinge as well?

Nic Sending you big hugs. Feel free to "whinge" as much as you want. You are entitled to do that as much as anyone else.
I don't know why some people feel the need to compare your circumstances along with someone elses. It really does frustrate me to no end when this happens.
Anyway as you know, everyones experiences are different and no 2 pregnancies are the same. Take care hun and tell her to buzz off
