Possums, it is hard not to over analyse everything. Just try and remember that subsequent pregnancies are not necessarily the same and people feel differently. You may not get many symptoms, or by next week you may be wishing away the m/s. Either way, I don't think we are ever content!

Chez, I survived on porridge for breakfast in the early stages of this pregnancy. I just found it kept me fuller for longer and a bit better energy wise than when I just had my weet bix. I put some LSA mix on the porridge as well for some added fibre. I did that until about 15weeks when I was well and truly over the stuff!

All you girls having scorchers today, stay cool and drink up!! It's a lovely 24 here today in Melbourne and I was complaining in 30 degrees yesterday. Hope you all get some relief soon.

AFM - Saw my GD Dr this week. He's happy as I have been able to keep it under control and I've lost 3kg. He's hoping that the GD may even fix itself as my own insulin may start to kick in and my metabolism improve on it's own. Didn't know that could happen, but would be great if it did.
27wk appointment with the midwives next week - looking forward to hearing the heartbeat again. Even though he's moving all the time it's still nice to hear it.
DH and I start our Calmbirth class tomorrow night. Really looking forward to this. Who else did this? Was it Nic?
Movement was very little over the weekend and I was beginning to wonder what was going on, but by Monday he was doing aerobics again. Feels like he's had a growth spurt, as they're much stronger and the big kicks near the cervix can bring tears to my eyes!

Megan- thanks for that ..and yes, Nixon did calmbirth classes...i have some brochures on them and all going well this time, plan doing them too

Megan - who are you doing the calmbirth classes through - have been talking this through with DH as something that might benefit us (well me - i'm an anxious little vegemite!)

i hear ya on the kicks to the cervix - i cant imagine what it will be like in 6 weeks - at the moment they don't hurt but they are definitely "thumpy". think bubs might have struggled with daddy going away on sunday - was very quiet for a couple of days but has now gotten used to just mummy again, and is booting me as i type. i wonder if the sound of the keyboard is annoying? lol

not a lot happening here - have morphology scan tomorrow which i am so looking forward to! have been listening to bub regularly the past few weeks while DH home (he connects better with the sound) and last night managed to get a really loud HB so recorded it on my phone and sent it to him. when i spoke to him a few hours later he said he'd already listed to it three times! sent it to a couple of other people that have been really supportive and three ended up in tears! i think it's the most amazing sound to listen to. i know all is ok (getting kicks flat out now) but it brings me confidence hearing that HB - plus i'm trying to catch heart rate (for the whole under 150 - boy, over 150 = girl) - damn shame our heartrate is always around 150-155 - no clear measure on that one.

will have to go bump the gender thread for tomorrow - if anyone hasn't voted jump on in!

and finally, now that i've waffled away - Alloy! congrats on the twinnies!! to the newbies - welcome!

I have read through this whole thread and wanted to say congratulations to you all!
I am 6 weeks pregnant after my second ICSI cycle which is very exciting
I am having a repeat blood test tomorrow as I have continued to spot for the past two weeks. My HCG levels are over 5000 but progesterone is only 27 so I am having pregnyl shot twice a week to help boost it over 30

Does anyone have any advice??

BG, I'm doing calmbirth in Upper Ferntree Gully (Melanie Cane). I found her on the calmbirth website under practitioners. She is a doula as well. There are 5 classes x 2.5 hours or she also offers the whole course over a weekend (which I think a lot of them do). It's only about 20-30min drive for us so we're doing the weekly classes. I'm a bit anxious about the birth too and DH is really keen to learn more and help me as much as he can so we're really excited about doing it. A family member did the course a few months ago and gave birth the day after finishing the class, and they couldn't recommend it highly enough. Her DH felt like he knew what he had to do to support her the whole way through and caught bub in the end.
I forgot about the heart rate thing for detecting boy or girl. Ours was borderline too. At 12w it was 154 and at 19w it was 148 and we were told we're having a boy. No real indicator on that one! Have fun at your scan tomorrow. Can't remember what I voted now...I think girl! Hope s/he is co-operative for you!

just letting you all know that i dont belong in here anymore

went for our 9 weeks scan yesterday to find an empty sac that measured 7 weeks
going in for D&C tomorrow morning.

am shattered and cant believe this has happend, how could this baby leave me without me knowing. i had no bleeding, no pain no nothing.

it hurts to breathe and my eyes are swollen shut from crying, all i want in my dd to come home, but the ex wont let her home cos "he wants to spend time with her"
i broke down in tears begging him to let her come home, so i can hold her and explain to her that the baby she so desperatly wants isnt going to be coming. i just want my dd home with me right now, this is so unfair and it just want my little baby back

21 - there is a huge increase in blood flow to your cervix at this stage - anything will irritate it - don't fixate on the small amount of blood - many ladies have bleeds and nothin happens. i would say your cervix is a bit sensitive - don't poke around up there any more!!!

fwiw - my ob said that "mild pain is normal - everything is stretching. pain that comes and goes is likely braxton hicks. pain in the absence of blood is ok. blood in the absence of pain (if a small amount) is normally ok. you need to seek help if: you have regular pain that is intensifying - like contractions - or continuous pain over a period of more than an hour. or heavy bleeding". he was fantastic at laying it on the line

go have a look in the pg threads - there are HEAPS of ladies that have had bleeding in early pg - there is a whole sticky thread devoted to it!

HM - sounds like you have an exciting time ahead, good luck with everything but something tells me with your calm approach everything will be just fine

Chez67 - my age risk for DS was 1 in 84 and after our BT / Scan they came back at 1 in 3000 so we didn't do any further testing, but , like Janie we had already decided not to as the further testing.

21 - good luck for you BT next week

Possums - I didn't have any real pg symptoms until about 7.5 weeks and now I just wish they would go away !! Thanks for the update on Bel, great to hear that she is doing okay.

Alloy - congrats on the twins , double the joy for you
