Mel - great news on the scan results!! And yes, I think I know TOO much about HCG levels and rising times! (And I realise most women dont seem to have this much monitoring, this was just how my midwife wanted to run things as a constant check) I have now read HCG levels can take longer than 4 days to double after they reach a certain amount, so I felt better about that...and as my midwife said too, each woman is different, and levels can vary around the predictive lines they have on their graph. I think with me it's just such a heightened sensitivity to everything after my experiences last year. last time they were still around 11,500 when I was 8 weeks, so I am well beyond that.

Oh TL - I have heard of lots of women that have failed the 1 hour and come out fine on the longer one.

Possums - I didn't have many BT's so I don't have much advice but it sounds like you are positive about your results .

AFM - all seems to be okay. MS is only in the morning now and is very mild compared to before and can feel my energy levels coming back. MS seems to be more triggered by smell these days. We still have 3 more weeks to our next OB appoint (he is on holidays for 2 weeks) and scan. As much as I hated the MS, at least it was a good sign, now that 'feeling better' is a good symptom it feels a bit strange.
Question - how can tell where the top of the fundus is? If I have a full bladder I think I can feel it when I am lying down but not a full bladder it all feels about the same to me - I guess that's why I'm not a OB!!! Also, has anyone measured their fundus height at home to keep track of it and do you think it is accurate / worthwhile.

We have a sticky thread on immunology testing in the LTAC area that members have added too over the last few years but it has been dormant for a while but you may have found it useful when you were TTC.
If you were able to take the time, it would be valuable for other members to have any information you may have gained from your own investigations included in this thread which wont disappear over time.
I will also bump it to see if we can add valuable learnings for us all.

Hi Possum, I think how much hcg increases also depends on how your numbers were originally. Mine was very high originally and continued to stay very high (think I reached 157,000 by 6w 5d). I was told that by 6 weeks reading hcg is not as important anymore. Only because I had spotting which the nurse tried to help by giving another BT. Good luck hun.

I was telling hubby about the fact that by 3 months bub will be able to hear us so he started to speak to the belly last night...saying "whatever mum says about me, it is not true".. we had a good laugh. I love teasing my DH who generally become speechless most of the time which is very amusing..
I swear I am feeling my bub internally....it is like liquid moving in your belly... initially I mistoke it for my digestive tract but hubby said we only hear our tummy grumbles, not feel constant movement. I think I will just go with what he said.

Kahlan - i was feeling bub at 9.5 weeks, so it's very very probable you're feeling yours now!
fundus is the height of your uterus as the baby grows - my GP was going to measure the other day, but put her hands on my tum, said "well, fundus is at your belly button which is spot on" and left it. it's not a very scientific measure - it will vary through the day depending on how your baby is laying at the time - if it arches it's back against the front of your tum, it will be higher than if it's just laying all tucked up... fundus height is one of those things they use to tell you that you're having a big baby - and then you might pop out a little one. i don't think it's important to measure it at all... in fact, from what i've read, it's probably something to avoid!

i have been missing from this forum for a while but been reading all the posts. Everyone seems to be going good and i hope i will be the same.
just a question, when should you go for your first scan? i was thinking 8 weeks to be sure they will see the heart beat if there is one, also i have a retroverted uterus so im nervous they may not find the bub and il freak out! i would love your thoughts on this!
AFM- ive got no symptoms still except sore nipples and a bit fatigued, no MS, although i dont want it! last time i was vomiting constantly and i didnt even have a little one in the uterus! just that damn sac so it means nothing to me but agony! i hope i dont get it!

Hi Kahlan - I've also had spotting since getting my BFP. It cleared up last week, but since having my scan yesterday it has come back. Do you mind telling me what yours was like? (Mine is brown (it varies in darkness), sometimes mixed with a discharge, sometimes not - sorry TMI)
I know I should just take comfort that I've seen the baby and I've been told everything is fine (heart beating etc) and the doctor couldn't see any bleeding from my uterus - but there's nothing like a few brown spots to freak me out. When did yours eventually clear up? My next scan is now not until after 12 weeks and I'll be totally beside myself by then, especially if the spotting continues...
Possums and LNB - thanks for your words. I was so happy to see the little one doing all the right things. Though there really should be a service for nervous types like me that allow weekly (or daily!) scans!!

Hi 21, I would go for 8 week scan (that was what I did) because I reasoned that even if I was going to m/c they couldn't do anything anyway, so I rather live on cloud nine until then. Also 8 week scan allows me to see more of the bub. Congrats on your pg by the way.
Hi Mel, know how you feel. I had spotting on and off from week 6. Sometimes it was brown and then dark dirty brown and then dark brownish red. It usually last for a few days but not enough to wear a pad. I had a massive bleed with bright red blood at 11 week and that really freaked me out. This one lasted for a week. Went to hospital but it was on the weekend so I end up going to my GP who ordered another ultrasound and a number of tests (include urine - for UTI and swab of my vagina) Everything came back normal. The ultrasound showed bub doing great. GP concluded that one of my vein in the cervix must have burst because there is no other reason for the bleeding. I did end up in bed for 3 days though until the bleeding decreases to dark brown discharge.
If you are spotting after an ultrasound (I assume it was an internal ultrasound) I would say you have a highly sensitive cervix like me so don't worry about the bub too much. Take care of yourself.

Kahlan - a lot of people knew by christmas (blabber mouth mother after 13 week scan) but we stil sent it out and it was well received - did get to tell a few people that way, so was kinda worth the effort - but after mum blabbed (and the chick at the local Target WTF???) it just lost some of it's importance! ah well, such is life i guess

Mel- hope the spotting clear ups. I know what you mean about worrying. It's hard not to, especially if it's been a journey to get here! Can you possibly have another scan in a couple of weeks? I think I will be having scans fairly often, which is a choice available to me.
21andttc- I'd go for the 8 wk scan
afm- nervous waiting for tomorrow's scan.

I just thought of another question...how have most of you kept pics from your scans? scanned them to computer? photocopied them? taken a photo of them? I think I need to destress right now. Just thinking about the scan and the thought of my last scan last time, when there was no heartbeat anymore makes me feel a bit sick. This time has to be different

possums, i have a little folder with the pics in, and will soon have a box with all the "momento's" - ie HPT's, maternity card etc
i embraced this pg as "the one" from day dot - don't know why but it felt different. i went about everything with a "nothing is gonna go wrong" attitude. still had bad days where i stressed, but it was different to previous pg's...
ooh, as to your HCG - on lots of reading, i found that, as long as your HCG is raising by 66% in 72 hours, you're still right on track - i'm pretty sure you're right up there hun!

Possum, I scanned them and saved them on my Lap top.
You can also save them to a memory stick and go to your local photo shop and print them on normal photo paper.
