Thanks for understanding TL- makes me feel I am just human
a further update this morning: I think we might be going to have weekly scans for a while...I think my OB might not think that's necessary but my IVF nurse said she thinks the reassurance and monitoring given the funny blood results would be a good thing- and I think I'd like that too to be honest. she said the scans can't harm our baby which was my only concern (also not too sure about costs, but doesnt matter really, when the benefits are there)..
possums - i've hit the medicare safety net, and have found my scans at a private imaging service are only costing me $22 out of pocket ($161 on the day, but claim most of it straight back at medicare) - so it's a minimal cost for some peace of mind
Nicole - Congrats on the HB... that first scan certainly is memorable.
Scooby - I can't believe that you only have 3 months to go! It only seems like yesterday that you fell pregnant. You must be getting so excited!
Devon - congrats on 25 weeks!
Megan - I know what you mean - everyone has their piece of advice to give. I'm quite lucky in that way as I am not from Australia, so a lot of my family and my DH's family don't live here. In the same breath - I think I will really miss that help when bubs comes along!
BG - glad to hear all is going well.
BW - Hope you are feeling better today.
Possums - Don't ever feel bad for the way that you are feeling... everyone's situation is unique and no-one can say one situation is easier than another. It must be hard to stay positive when you can hear those words in your head, but remember that they do always give worst case scenarios to cover themselves. Keep your chin up - we are all here for you and cheering little Flicker along.
TL - Hope you and baby Tigger are well.
To anyone I have missed - I'm sorry!
AFM - well 16 week appointment went really well. We got to see our baby again on US and it was just amazing. They were kicking around like you wouldn't believe. The midwife let us just sit for quite a few minutes and just watch our little one moving around... So cool! We made our appointment for our 20 week scan at the same time - wonderful thing is it falls on my DH's 30th birthday... what a great birthday present for him.
Also, I think I have been feeling the baby move - it is very light at the moment and I can only feel it when I am lying down quietly. But the midwife said that generally if you "think" you can feel it - you actually are feeling them. So amazing!

Possums- Am thinking of you and am so proud of you for your strength.
Hi to all my other past TWW buddies...
Janie, can't believe you are 16 weeks already, am so happy for you.
TL-Am always snooping round checking up on you
Scooby- Gee only 3 months to go!
And all you other lovely pg ladies..thinking of you too.
I am telling you all, I will be here in 13 sleeps time..I can feel it in my waters!(don't really know what my waters are but I know I'm getting my BFP this cycle!!)
Sorry ladies just a quick post...totally amazing how much work you end up with when you have a day off
Thank you all for your wishes yesterday, I think the first scan is one that you'll never forget.
Had a slight melting moment this morning actually the US picture did.
The nurse said yesterday that after some time the picture will fade and suggested that I laminate it....WELL not a good idea. It pretty much melted the complete image away and just looks like a black photo.
Lucky I scanned it last night and saved it to the lap top or I may have gone slightly mental!!
Anyway sorry for no personals but will try and catch up with you all latter.
Oh noes Nicole!! i'm surprised they suggested you laminate the pic as it's usually printed on paper similar to receipt paper - all heat activated!!! so glad you scanned it first!! i scanned and printed a copy for hubby, and am planning on doing something to preserve the original - just not sure what yet!
I'm really stunned! Every scan we've had we've been specifically told DO NOT laminate them because the pictures are printed on heat sensitive paper. Such a good thing that you scanned it first, Nic, think you should let the silly nurse know what it does so the same disaster isn't encountered by others?
The clinic photocopies the scan pics for us, and we've scanned the ones we had done at other places (Note to self: 24w scan pics are not scanned yet!), and then there's the DVD of the scans when bub was bigger...
Still feeling cruddy with this chest lurgy, but I'm finding the cooler, damper air (it's raining here) much easier to breathe than the hot icky air of yesterday. Hopefully another day resting will help and I'll be right to be back at work on Thursday... but it's just so damned hard to get motivated when you know you've got 8 weeks of work left and that's it before life changes forever!
Well we were even told not to scan ours beacuse the paper could melt by or ob so I have been taking photos on the camera
Weighed myself yesterday 2kgs put on since we started IVF trring to be patient and wait for 20 week scan but 5 weeks seems so long I just want something now.
Anyway 10 days till I turn 30 and we will be away that weekend so that will be a distraction
Possums - yes - real bad headaches. Especially in the evening for me. Not so much any more.
Nic & TL - Could you use conact to protect the pic's? You know the stuff that you had to cover your school books in when you were a kid? Kind of like cold laminating?
To all the other 'yummi-mumi's in the making'.... Hi...Hope you are well....Hope you are happy :-)
AFM - the funeral was really nice. Outdoors graveside service - my gran didn't want any of the pomp and ceremony that went with a church service (even though she was an avid fan of the big guy upstairs and went every week). Before she passed she said that she didn't like the idea of people getting up and talking about her when she wasn't there. She figured if you ain't got something good to say to someone while they are alive - there ain't no point saying it to everyone except them when they're in the ground.
First appointment with Dr. Kwok today. So far so good. He surprised me with an ultrasound where my peque?o beb? looked to be doing the jive in there. Head - check, arms - check, legs - check. And I heard the heartbeat for the first time. A couple of pic's to take home aswell.
We didn't really discuss anything about what I wanted in terms of birthing etc. Should I be worried about that? We mostly talked about medical history, did breast lump check, referral or the NT test, blood pressure, ultrasound, lungs and heart (mine).
Anyway - sorry for the lack of personals. Been super busy today.
Possums, headaches in pregnancy are really common. I had them really bad in the second half of first trimester. Panadol and panadeine are ok (as is panadeine forte if you can get it), and mersyndol is also ok, but I only ever took that at night because it would make me sleep. My AP would use leave in needles on my neck and arms to help give me some relief and that worked really well. She told me that the headaches take over as the nausea subsides, and it seemed to be the case for me. Ugh!
Nixon, I still haven't had a conversation about birth with my OB, it's early days and there's plenty of time for that to happen. To tell the truth, I'm still in a bit of denial about the fact that I will have to get Munchkin out in some way...
I'm still moping around in PJs... spending most of the day in bed, some reading, some marking, some messing about on the puter...
But one little bright point... I got a phone call today from one of the exhibitors at the expo I went to last friday. Apparently I won a Scally Bag - they look great, but we'll have to wait for Munchkin to be a lot older before he can use it! And I never win anything! It really made my day!
Nixon - Glad to hear the funeral went as well as these things can, and i really like the sound of your gran Glad the Ob appointment went well and you have some beautiful pics, as for a discussing the birth i think they tend to leave it a little later so they can discuss realistic possibilities after the scan etc.. we are only just discussing it at 33 weeks.
BW - Congrats on the bag
TL - weekend away sounds fantastic! Hope you have a wonderful birthday!
Nic - so sorry to hear about your laminating experience.. lucky for the scanner!
I know i have missed people but huge to all!
Things here are ticking along, bad sleep, sore back, braxton hicks but babies are perfect had out checkup yesterday and girlie is still head down low in my pelvis and has decided she is coming first so we now have a induction date Nov 14th and a C-sec date Nov 17th which is just over 4 weeks away so not long until these babies are here!
