LBN - Welcome - has the shock worn off yet?

Nicole S - Hope you are feeling better. I'm waiting to get the cold that is doing the rounds in the office. We have people here who love being sick - love telling you about it and then cough right in your face as though to prove how sick they are. So gross.

BG - I'm hearing you on the reno and knowing it has to be done and not having the energy to do it. We're replacing the kitchen, sanding the floors and carpeting the bedrooms. Hopefully before Christmas. I spend about 4 - 5 hours on the couch on Sunday - I'm just too tired to get up and do anything. Oh well, that's why we have DH's....hehehe.

Shan - I hope the kids come out soon - you must be getting a bit over it. Good luck.

TL - Hi hun, how was your weekend?

To every one else - howdy - I hope you have a great week ahead of you.

AFM - We went looking at prams at the shops on Sunday. Not to purchase, but to find out which one we found to be the easiest to pull apart/put together, weight, etc. Basically so we can keep an eye out on e-bay.

Anyway, We got carried away and ended up spending about an hour and a half looking at cots, prams, blankets, baby bjorns, toys everything. So, right in the middle of David Jones I start bawling my eyes out. I think it was the first time it felt real and good. More real than any of the ultrasounds.

We have been saying to each other - let's not get carried away just yet, lets wait until we look for this or that. Let's not buy any toys until after the baby is born. We'll do it the scottish way (we met in Scotland) they don't get any gifts until after the baby is born.

Story behind the us wanting to wait til after the birth: About 3 years ago) my sister-in-law (DH's brother's wife) was 10 days over due and went to hospital to be induced. The midwife had been to visit 3 days earlier and all was fine. When they go to hospital during the pre-induction checks - they found no heartbeat. SIL still had to be induced and endure labour knowing her baby would not be alive at the end of it - her beautiful baby boy Charlie. There was an autopsy and no reason found as to why his heart had stopped beating. I don't know how she survived it. She does now have a gorgeous little girl called Lily, but I don't think the fear will ever leave our family of this happening again. you know what I mean?

So, anyway , on the way back to the car - we'd managed to resist buying the cutest blanket ever - I saw a knitted blue toy horse in the window of a store and I thought f*** it!! And I bought it and I cried again and I'm crying now because it is the first thing I have ever bought for my baby.

    Anyway - all good.

    Have a great day.

morning all - hope you had a great weekend.

Nixon - sounds like you had fun out shopping! DH bought Gremlins first teddy and first clothes at 5w - i can understand your reasons for not wanting stuff early completely - we're just the opposite - we've been through so much heartache leading up to now, we're embracing the positivity. plus i think he's glad he bought stuff back then - i've been a hermit too sick to go out ever since!

AFM - off to the GP today to get referral for NT scan - hopefully by the end of the day i'll have appointment booked. with luck. we'll be able to book for next week before we see the ob so that we have results by then. will depend on the policy of the sonographer - i'll be 11w on sunday, so if they have a "not til at least 12w" as some do, i'll book for the following monday.

feeling terrible this morning. Vic weather turned to crud overnight, and at some point i flicked the doona off my chest - woke this morning at 6 feeling like i'm getting cold, and now have a sore throat! went back to sleep and forgot my morning half banana - the ms queasies are killing me now! i sooooo don't want to go in the car to go to GP (30k trip each way) and i just KNOW DH will say "let's go shopping" or something equally unwanted. have been in tears twice already this morning from feeling so bad, so i'm sure that would happen again if he asks me to be social! thankfully it's a relatively early appointment (9.45) so the GP shouldn't be running toooooooooo late. and i think i can just walk across the road and have the BT side of things done straight away....

HI everyone...just reading your updates and wishing you well.

Nixon- totally understandable!! all your fears seem very natural to me...including that surreal feeling that comes from conceiving through IVF.
we bought a little rug and things to celebrate after we saw the heartbeat...now those things make me sad....but I guess deep down I hope that I'll still get to use them one day, and maybe they can be a little reminder/in memory of... our lost little angel.

shannon- so close now! all the best

TL- first movement...how wonderful for you

mon- hope first scan goes well...it's exciting and scary I understand

Bel- checking in on you- how'd the scan go today?

BG and Nicole- hope you both feel better soon

LNB- congrats again...try and enjoy this as best you can...anxiety is normal

afm- sad sad, but some days arent so bad as others now...

Wow - Twins!!! Congrats on the double trouble. I think you should keep a copy of this post somewhere so that when they are misbehaving todlers in the 'terrible two' stage you will remember how you felt when you saw them for the first time. :-)

Wow it is busy in here... isn't that wonderful to see!

Bel - massive congratulations on the twins! That is just wonderful news. My younger sisters are twins - they were a handful, but so much fun and so very special. Your next scan is on the same day as my 20 week scan.

TL - congrats on feeling your first movement! How exicting it is. Mine has just really started getting more regular and stronger. I hear you about the 20 week scan though! Hanging out majorly for ours. 1 week to go.

Possums - I think of you every day and am hoping that you are healing and that some days are getting easier.

BG - hope you are feeling better and got your NT scan all booked in.

Nixon - what an emotional time - it is so understandable the fact that you feel like you are not fully able to celebrate until your baby is in your arms. Your poor SIL - what an absolutely horrible thing to go through. My step-mum went through the same thing when I was 19 years old - it is truely devastating and I am in awe of the strength it takes someone to pick themselves up and keep on going afterwards.

Nicole - hope you are feeling better hun.

Shannon - WOW less than 2 weeks to go! How exciting!

LNB - Huge congrats to you and welcome!

Mon - hope you are feeling better also.

To anyone I have missed (and I know I have) - please forgive me... this thread is getting so wonderfully large!

AFM - Feeling heaps more movements that are stronger and more regular. Hanging out for 20 week scan in 1 week today! Can't wait to see our little bubscicle again.

Take care all you lovely pregnant ladies.

    Hi Everyone

Sorry I have been so out of touch lateley, but work has been busy and by the time I get home and sort out DD I am snoring on the couch.
But I had a quick read while at work and couldnt resist a post!

Bel - How exciting TWINS! Congratulations. That is beautiful news.

Nixon - Buying the 1st thing is always so special. I bought 1 item when I was 8 weeks with DD b/c I couldnt resist. I have managed to keep myself a little more under control this time though

BG Not long to go now anyway. Mine is booked for when I am 12 weeks exactly. Its just over couple weeks away so I am looking forward to it, but very nervous at the same time.

Nicole - Hope you get better soon. I had a sore throat lingering for a couple weeks, but managed to somehow not get to sick which was good considering I am busy at work and cant afford a day off at the moment. Your 10 wk U/S is this friday right? That should be nice. You should be able to actually see a baby now as apposed to a blob.

LMB - Congratulations that is wonderful news. I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy and looking forward to chatting with you here.

Possums - Glad you are starting to feel better, and I hope it wont be too long until you are happy and pregnant again, although I am sure you will always think of your little angles.

Shannon - Congratulations you are nearly there. And may I say you are wonder women managing to keep twins in there still with 12 days to go. That is unbeleivable they'll be a good weight when they come out.

Hi to everyone else, and congrats to those who had U/S's recently.

AFM I am almost 10 weeks now, just want to hurry up and get to 12 so I can "officially" announce it as I am starting to look fat and people are suspecting. Gained weight and was bloated with DD too, but seems to be worse now. They say you show more 2nd time around and it seems to be the case with me so far.
I am feeling quite nausious and tired most days, want to try and increase my activity in the evening so I can feel better. Maybe force myself to go for a walk after dinner when I can, or start doing some pilates. I have a couple DVD's so I just have to start, but motivation level is low when I am so TIRED!

Anyway I'll try and be less slack and login more often!

    Hi Everyone -

Thank you so much for your welcoming notes. I am trying to keep up with where everyone is at but it will take me a while to get all the personals right

Bel - congratulations on TWINS!!! That is fantastic, you must have been elated when you saw the scan today. Our DD are almost the same, I am due on 5th July which seems very far away and very soon all at the same time! Do you have a lot of pg symptoms?

AFM, still feeling excited and scared at the same time. I feel paranoid about every twinge or lack of twinges. Although I do feel I've had a bit of a breakthrough today, I have been waking at 3.30 AM for the last 10days and not been able to get back to sleep. DH thinks it is because of the drop in blood sugar that is waking me, so when I woke this morning he said to have some juice and dried fruit, sure enough I was snoring again within 20 mins. DH now considers himself the pg expert

Looking forward to sharing this journey with you all,
    Take care,
    LNB
