brunette - my girlfriend had twins and was told that one of her babies would probably be downs (don't know no.s) and they were both born fine, so if your doc says it's good, go with that xx
maggiepie - hope you felt better later on yesterday after your sugar low. watch that compost!! I haven't done any gardening...and it's showing, so we've roped mum & dad to come and help next week as I feel bad DH is going to to have to do the majority - pruning, whipper snippering etc. We have 2 lots of overseas visitor in Oct/Nov so want to get it ready.
worrywort - how wonderful for your DH he must've been grinning forever after that event!!
afme - had the nuchal scan yesterday at a dedicated x-ray/ultrasound place and was very impressed. Firstly I didn't have to wait like I did last year ( I pee often when I'm not pregnant....I get tense and terse with the full bladder thing!! hate it), the sonographer was lovely (again not like place last year, who barely said anything - except there was no heartbeat) and we were in there for about 40 minutes.
Part reason for that was bub wasn't playing ball ie lying in the right position for the measurement of the nuchal. It was flipping over, lying on its' side, squirming, but eventually she got a few measurements. She was very thorough and explained everything. We heard the heartbeat 162/min which was lovely (first time) saw 2 halves of the brain, the nasal bone, a very clear hand with thumb and 4 fingers, the stomach, umbilical cord, feet, legs, arms etc. Results are today. We are feeling good about it not too stressy, which has been our natural outlook on the whole pregnancy (not like us normally I might add! :-) ) Will post when I know.
Been having some very strange dreams....but in all of them I am pregnant. Last night though I dreamt that DH told me it was over, and I was sooooo upset and crying and it was horrible. I woke up and told him, he reassured me, then I fell back into a different scene but same dream! Awful. Very vivid.
Anyhoo, gonna go take the dog for a walk then later I am off to see the kids film Despicable Me with my 9 and 10 yr old neighbours. Hope you all have a good day xxx

Brunette - you poor thing, the carpal tunnel thing sounds downright annoying and painful. I'm with MP, go to the physio if you can, hopefully that will bring you some relief. And don't worry about your NT results - remind yourself that you have only a 0.1-0.2% chance of downs, thats tiny! Plus, you couldn't have the BT, which no doubt would've brought the odds down even further.
Worrywart - yay for DH feeling bub kick!
Airline - hope the MS is doing OK. I threw up only once during mine, and it was around the 12 week mark, from memory. Glad you had a great scan! So pleased you had a nice sonographer too. Had to laugh when I heard about your dream (even though its sooo not funny) - I had a dream 2 nights ago where I walked in on DH with not one but TWO women. Its awful isn't it? I've had a few dreams of DH cheating, read somewhere its quite common, with our changing bodies, changing identity etc.
AFM - all going OK, I feel like I'm blowing up like a balloon though. DH's boss asked me the other day if I'm sure I'm not having twins!? Luckily I stopped myself from decking him... not a good career move for DH! I've scored heaps of maternity clothes lately, I feel better not having to squeeze into my old clothes anymore. I know I should be embracing my changing shape, but after a lifetime of dieting, I have the occassional moment of panic when I hop on the scales these days. The panic passes quickly though when I feel bub kick, like its saying "Oi, cut it out, Mum!"

Hey girls...the results are in and it's good, low risk.
For those who may not have had it yet this is how they worded it and it's quite self explanatory. The first result is 'background risk' based on maternal age alone and then the 'adjusted risk' takes into account the scan and the blood test results.
Trisomy 21 (down syndrome) 1in 297 my result 1 in 1042
Trisomy 18 1in 741 my result 1 in 14 820
Trisomy 13 1in 2320 my result 1 in 46 398
We also got all the films so we can see the 2 halves of the brain, and the nasal bone, and a great profile etc.
Very pleased, and another milestone to quietly celebrate. Off to vacuum, and phone ma & pa and let them know. xxx
Congrats Airline, that's fab news. Hope you are enjoying your celebrations! I have to admit I only know my number was 1 in 8000, but am assuming that's just for downs as no other results were ever mentioned for any other conditions.
Brunette - one of my best friends had carpal tunnel badly in both wrists and she hasn't got any residual issues after pregnancy. I know she wore a splint and saw a physio etc which obviously all the other ladies have mentioned too. Your numbers are absolutely fine - I don't think you are worried, but you certainly have no reason to be.

Worrywort - that's so lovely DH got to feel your baby kick. My DH has only cried three times in the 9 years we have been together, and that what was one of them for us. It's such a magical moment!
Leabie - I can't believe someone said are you sure you aren't having twins. People are so insensitive aren't they. My DH's boss kept calling me by the wrong name everytime I saw him and I got so sick of it I started calling him the wrong name deliberately too! He didn't like that at all but he never called me the wrong name again Not cool about the bloating either, don't you wish there was somewhere to complain about pregnancy ailments.

AFM - Slowly getting over cold number #5, just left with this cough which is still keeping me up every night. My DH quit his job this week so have been setting up his new company. His current boss is being a ****er and wants him to serve four weeks but also might want him to leave earlier depending on how he feels. Just reminds us of why it's such a good decision he's leaving. Still sad after 5 years working there, but it's time to move on.
Airline, great news on the NT scan. Naughty bub not cooperating. You might be in for a busy little baby, so far both of my kids have personalities like they were in the scan (DD lying nice and quietly and DS doing acrobatics). It must feel good to get that out of the way, and be heading into the second trimester.
Leabie, welcome back! Yes embrace the changes even though you feel like a balloon. There is nothing more beautiful than a big pregnant belly. Thumbs down to your DHs boss for throwing in the twin comment. Not funny. Towards the end of my 2nd preg I had a guy at work ask me (quite rudely and obviously making fun of me) if I was having twins. I said 'no, but I am having a baby what's your excuse??' as he had one of those large tummies that makes men look pregnant. Shut him up pretty quick, and other male coworkers too I would have to say.
Lairdoz, hope the cold keeps improving. Hang in there on the job front, your DH will be finished soon and won't have to deal with his old boss. You don't really need this kind of stress at the moment.
On the dreaming thing, I was having heaps of weird dreams, including ones where everyone is running away from me! But these have started becoming a bit more normal in the last week. Still am having heaps more dreams than I usually do.
AFM - finally sat down and did tax today. Yay but now brain is sore. In the process of picking out wall colours for when we renovate. Has anyone seen Dulux Light Rice painted?
Maggiepie you just reminded me I need to do our taxes. I got everything done to go to the accountant then I lost my motivation and think I have to start from scratch - at least we'll get a decent return with all those medical expenses!
Thanks MaggiePie and Lairdoz for your kind words, feeling better about my belly today. DH put it into perspective last night when he rubbed my tummy and said "that's my baby". Will remind myself of this whenever I'm feeling low.
Lairdoz - so glad that you're winning the battle with that pesky cold. I've had a blocked nose since mid first trimester and thats annoying enough, can't imagine what you've been putting up with, having cold after cold, you poor thing. Yay for DH quitting, that boss sounds like an a**. Hope his new business goes brilliantly.
MaggiePie - you made me laugh with your comeback to your colleague, wish I'd been quick enough to think of something like that! Hehe. Will store it in the memory bank for when/if someone says it again.
On the tax front, we cleaned up on the medical expenses in our last tax return! Though as DH pointed out, we spent 6 times as much as we got back... oh well, at least we got some back!
Well back to reality after a very emotional and tiring week. Sorry so much has happened on here that i will just try and catch up from here. Hope everyone is doing well.
I had my first hospital app this week, finally, and booked into the hospital. This made it seem all that much more real!!! Although I can't not know it is real atm with bub going nuts all the time!!
