I think I get a grand total of $150 for the immunisation payment which I don't get in full until my DD turns 4 - will be hanging out for that! We don't get any family benefits, nor the baby bonus and as I am on unpaid maternity leave, I get no paid parental leave so we get a grand total of NOTHING but a HUGE IVF and obstetricians bill courtesy of the Labor government and of course the fertility clinic, although I have to admit that even though it directly impacted us to a huge extent, I know why the government made the changes because the clinics and obstetricians were milking medicare in order to increase their fees each year. None of us really cared before because Medicare (which is all of us anyway) were absorbing the majority of the extra costs.
When the fertility clients (us) had to pay for their costs directly without being able to get anywhere near so much back through medicare (like this year) the majority of clinics froze their costs and I saw a report in the last week in the AGE newspaper which said that demand for IVF has dropped this year where it normally goes up by 10% as it has in subsequent years.
I'll hop off my soapbox now ;)
And this is far more important than any statistic!!
Chrissy, if you tell the dentist that you're pregnant, they'll know what they can and can't do (assuming they're a good dentist). At our first OB appointment, the midwife actually made quite a point of recommending a dental checkup. My sister also made me promise because she read a story about a woman losing her bub because she had untreated gum disease (the bacteria can spread throughout the body in the bloodstream). The hormones we've got going on now affect your gums the same way they affect your sinuses (can cause inflammation, etc).
airline, yes, if you're eligible for both baby bonus and PPL then you can choose which one you get, but you don't get both.
Lairdoz, that sucks. :( The PPL is the only good thing that the labor government have done for us, but even so we're still worse off overall (and my employer may end up cutting back on their employer-paid PPL entitlements because of the government scheme, so then I'll be worse off on the PPL front as well...).
Hi to everyone else!! :hello:
Afm, I survived my trip to the dentist!! :leap: Yay! The bad news is that I need two fillings, but I need to wait until my gag reflex settles down a bit. She also recommended an xray after bub arrives to check for cavities she can't see. Really, after so long between visits, I don't think I can complain about 2 fillings! And the teeth that have been hurting when I eat/drink something hot or cold were all fine, so I just need some sensitive toothpaste for those.
On the government payment issue, I've done a lot of reading for that because I'm on the committee that wrote our parental leave policy. You can choose between either the baby bonus or paid parental leave (PPL) if you're eligible for both. There's supposed to be a calcultor on the Family Assistance website later (from October?) to tell you what you'd get for each. If you're only eligible for one of them, then obviously, you'd choose to get that one.
The baby bonus is means tested based on the family income in the 6 months following the birth. If the family has a taxable income of more than $75k in that 6 months then you don't get the bonus. There are also other requirements.
The PPL is means tested based on the individual's income in the 12 months prior to the birth. The primary care-giver claiming the PPL must have a taxable income of less that $150k in the 12 months prior to the birth. There are also work tests to be met (minimum number of hours/months of work completed in the 13 months prior to the birth) and other requirements. The interesting (and for some people, controversial) part of the PPL, is that you get paid the PPL (assuming you're eligible) if your baby is stillborn (ie from 20wks on, no matter what outcome). I find it particularly interesting since many of us wouldn't be able to take 18 weeks off work in that circumstance (my employer's policy allows for 3 weeks, which may be extended at their discretion, but they can choose not to), and once you return to work you stop getting the PPL.
Supposedly, those two means tests are meant to be "equivalent". Can anyone work that out? We'd romp in on one and (just barely) fail the other... :dunno:
Hi all you lovely ladies!
Have been lurking in here, haven't had enough time to post til today, and now I'm sooo far behind... again...
I'm feeling guilty, all this talk of dentists. I've been about 4 times in the last 20 years! Oops  I really should go, my dentist is a school friend of mine so definitely not scary, I've got no excuse. I've been cleaning my teeth meticulously though, for fear of gum disease.
Airline - such fantastic news that you saw the heartbeat! Its magical, isn't it!? How such a little blob can be so organised as to have a beating heart. Great stuff that you've finally got a date! Enjoy telling your parents the wonderful news tomorrow. Don't worry too much about your ticker, especially if its American, mine always seems to be a day out.
MaggiePie - sorry to hear MS has set in :( Its a bugger. It was you asking about philly cheese a while ago, wasn't it? I got a really good resource from the NSW Food authority - http://www.foodauthority.nsw.gov.au/...y-brochure.pdf - it outlines foods to avoid etc. With processed cheeses (eg philly) it says safe to eat, but eat within 2 days of opening container. I buy the little individual tubs and it does the trick. Someone else was talking about ricotta (baby brain, can't remember), the booklet says that all those "naughty" cheeses are OK if they are in a fully cooked dish eg spinach and ricotta canneloni. Hope this helps.
Brunette - so pleased that everything looked great on the scan, and yay for the good BP! Goodness me, you're over half way (esp. if you go early ;) ), how time is flying.
Chrissy - great to hear from you, and glad that you're feeling fantastic. I too am finding 2nd trimester is as good as they promised. I'm with the others re your job, see if you can get up and move around regularly to keep the blood flowing. Don't put too much pressure on yourself to work at their pace.
Lairdoz - glad your scan went well and you're starting to feel better!
Sweetie and Shelly Belly - Hi :hello: and a huge welcome! Hope you're both doing great.
Hi to everyone else I've missed, there's a heap, I know. I've reached the end of my baby-brain concentration span, sorry...
AFM - well, just had our 19 week scan, which went great! Bub is measuring spot on still, so pleased. Head is normal size, even more pleased! Although the sonographer said there was still plenty of time for it to grow  I've been feeling bub every day, quite a few times a day since 16 weeks (luckily, the placenta's at the back), but the lady confirmed we've got a wriggler on our hands! I could've told her that, as bub was doing a Riverdance on my bladder at 4am this morning... She was getting a bit annoyed at how much it was squirming, I had to get up and move around to get it to sleep for a while so she could finish. Apart from that, feeling really good, and starting to get more active finally. Starting prenatal yoga tonight too, yay.
Have a great arvo ladies, :bellyrubs: to all!
Hello lovelies!
I am very excited to announce that Tiana Isabel has arrived! Weighing a very healthy 3.8kg and 51cm. Both Tiana and Paula are doing brilliantly.
Will be making a formal post in the BAs shortly!
Congratulations Juniper on surviving your trip to the dentist!!!! 2 fillings isn't bad after such a long time.
Leabie how cute that she was squirming so much for the sonographer!...and that just by walking around you can put her/him to sleep...just like when they're born! Do you have to have done yoga before to do prenatal yoga?
AFM, just had to share my crazy parents with you. As I"ve mentioned tomorrow's the big luch when we're going to tell them. I've used fabric glue on some felt, stitched scrapbook letters and glued the word SURPRISE onto a babygro for them to unwrap.
So of course we've been avoiding them since they arrived home from overseas last Thursday, but today Dad discovered the art of sms ing and asked if I'd be home after 5pm. I said sorry no, see you tomorrow. BUT knowing my folks I took precautions, turned lights off, closed blinds, put the dog outside. Sure enough, they rock up and boy were they persistant!!! Knocking on the door, on the window, and I could hear the side gate being shaken. DH reckons my dad was scaling it to look in the garage window and could see the car!!!!! OMG! I think mum went to the neighbours too to ask if I was there! As DH says, for someone who's tight like my dad, the lure of a free coffee from our coffee machine was too big! I was hiding with some very confused looking cats and the dog was good as gold and didn't bark. I felt really bad, but at least tomorrow I"ll pay them out and ask if they do that everytime we don't answer?!!
Right off for some apple and cheese. xx
Yeh!!! for Paula and Tiana!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:clap::dance::dance: congratulations.
Congrats paula!!!
Airline your folks sound hilarious!!!!!
Jaki, trust me they have their moments!! The first story they told me when they arrived back from holiday in Europe was that my mum didn't have her glasses on in the shower at a campsite, grabbed the 'shower gel' couldn't work out why it wasn't lathering up so used even more then squinted and realised it was Aldi mayonaise!! Just realised you and I are pretty much bellybelly girls....let's hope we both have a good ride.
For anyone wanting to try something different, I sucked on a couple of squares of Lindt dark chocolate with orange bits in it tonight. It went down a treat and I've never liked dark chocolate!
OMG this is a busy thread! So hard to keep up with everyone's news.
Firstly, congratulations Paula on the birth of Tiana Isabel.
Airline, I have to say I have been sitting her cacking myself at you hiding out at your home while your parents were staking out your house! Classic. I bet they will be so excited tomorrow when you tell them your news. I am planning on joining a local Multiple Birth Association group, thanks.
Leabie, it was me who raised the issue of whether ricotta cheese was safe to eat. I googled it and found a site that said ricotta was not safe to eat during PG; it didn't mention anything about it being safe when cooked. Aaagh, so confusing! Good news that bub and bub's measurements are spot on at your recent scan. Did you find out the sex? And, if so, you must be keeping it a secret ... :)
Juniper, you've done really well to have only two fillings after not seeing a dentist for so long. My gums have been really bad the last few weeks, bleeding esp on the bottom teeth every time I floss. It feels like my gums have receded heaps, esp the lower teeth. Hope I don't have gum disease?
Re the Labor government and ex-PM K Rudd's decisions, don't even get me started on his capping of obstetrics fees, IVF etc. I hate the man. He's my local member and believe you me I can't wait to get to the polls early Saturday and NOT vote for him. We get nothing except for the immunisation allowance of two x $150 payments. We would qualify for PPL but dont' think I can just cross my legs to hold the babies in till 1 Jan. Plus if the LNP are elected, their policy re PPL has changed and people won't get it now until 1 Jan 2012.
Jaki, I too heard about IVF numbers decreasing this year, being a direct corollary of reduced IVF benefits. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that if the fees go up and the benefits decrease, a lot of people can't afford to do IVF, hey? Is it true that Medicare benefits are going to be reinstated to their former levels as a result? I was musing that this would probably happen with my DH recently but hadn't realised there was talk of this happening.
Chrissy, my understanding is that it's okay to get fillings done with local anesthetic as it doesn't go into the blood stream and cross the placenta to get to bubs. I specifically told my dentist when having a crown done I was PG and she said a local would not harm my babies. X-rays are now supposed to be safe during PG but I would hold off having them if not absolutely urgent - but that's just me.
Brunette, it was funny me literally hiding in my bedroom with my animals looking at me like, 'what're you doing mum? answer the door already!'
Re. the PPL and LNP, they've announced that they'll keep the existing Labour PPL in place till theirs starts if they get into power. My DH has done a LOT of reading about all the parties recently, and the Greens are in bed with Labour, and I am with you Brunette and really can't stand Rudd or Gillard (is it just me or does that woman have THE most annoying uneducated accent?? - I mean really, she's representing us on the world stage).
I just don't know how they could justify themselves saying that the OBs have been taking advantage of Medicare system but yet what they did was penalise the public who need the help. I feel for all those poor couples who don't know yet that they need some assistance to fall pregnant, and then just simply can't afford it now. All the more reason to feel as blessed as I do right now.
Well ladies, I've had my fill of Desperate H/wives for the night (watching season 1 from the beginning for first time, and nearing the end...v. exciting!) and I'm off to sleep. . . broken sleep, but sleep xx
just a quickie,i switched laptop on to ask this question from bed.
there may be tmi for some folk,it's a bowel question.
just went to the loo, initially hard stool then some diarreagh (sp?). should i be concerned about that? I ate toast with vegemite today, some chicken and cheese/vegemite roll for lunch, an apple and hard cheese in arvo and an egg roll for dinner. I drank water all day, some oj and half a cup of tea.
paranoia? thank girls xx:rolleyes:
Massive headache and I'm procrastinating...
Paula, congratulations on the safe arrival of Tiana! I hope you recover quickly and are loving every second of having her in your arms! Can't wait to hear from you!
Leabie, good to hear that your scan went well and bub's head isn't too big (so far)!
airline, your story about your parents cracked me up! Thank goodness mine wouldn't do that (it's a 1 hour drive to get here, so they wouldn't waste the petrol). My mum can be equally persistant in other ways though. I hope tomorrow's big announcement goes perfectly! I had some of the Lindt Mint Intense. I might try the orange next time. On the Julia front, I just can't get past the "back-stabbing" aspect. Bald-faced lying seems to be the trademark of the Labor party based on their performance over the last 3 years. At least the LNP just seem to be evasive (so you can guess what they're up to). But all "good" politicians are dishonest, so maybe I just expect too much? On the bowel front (ha, never thought I'd write that!), I wouldn't worry about one bout of diarrhea. If it continues it'd be worth working out the cause. The biggest concern is usually dehydration, so make sure you keep up the fluids. Constipation is completely normal during pg. One of those "fun" symptoms... And you're not as paranoid as me, so don't worry about that either. ;)
Brunette, that sort of change in the gums is supposed to be normal due to the hormones, but they say to see a dentist because it could also be a sign of gum disease and you just need to get an expert to check it out.
I meant to say earlier, I heard something (on the radio I think? maybe?) that although the LNP disagree with the medicare caps but weren't promising to remove them. I guess they're leaving their options open? This was a week or two ago when Abbott was in Tassie.
Afm, I've been reviewing a report for a work colleague since 5pm and it's now 9.30pm (ie past my bedtime!) and I'm up to page 54 out of 107. :( I'm exhausted and my head is killing me and I thought the whole thing would take 2 hours... I'm so ready to chuck a tanty right around now... :computer:
Congrats Paula on your little miracle Tiana!!! I know you will be enjoying every single moment!!!! xxoo
Oh Airline Gillard is defo a bogan alright! I'd rather listen to pauline hanson sing me to sleep!
And as for the Poo problem, im not sure if our young bodies are the same as old folks but sometimes when you get constipated there is also runny stuff. Its called 'overflow'. Maybe you just had a bit of build up.
Meanwhile ive never been more regular than in this pregnancy..!!??
Oh juniper sounds like you had a rubbish night! I don't envy anyone who has to take some of their work home...I have discovered I am pretty much useless from 2pm onwards! Luckily I leave work about 2.30pm. I hope you feel better this morning.
I'm off to vote this morning as I'm off to NSW tomorrow. The other thing that annoys me are the people that hang out outside polling stations shoving flyers in your face. arrghh. I'm also going to call up the Northwest hospital as my friend says they do tours once a month. I've only been to visit her....3 times. I guess I should book ante-natal classes too as I remember someone saying about them getting booked up.
Right I'm off to feed the brood of furry family members...with my breath held!
Jaki...we post together again!:p
airline, as someone who has been one of those "volunteers" that hand out how to vote cards, go easy on them. My parents were members of one of the parties and I was stuck handing the damn things out a few times because they were short on volunteers. It's a long boring day... Of course, at the other end of the spectrum, there's the zealots that love it...
Airline- I'm going to Northwest as well! They have open days every 2nd and 4th Sat of the month.
Also- bit confusing, they have an online booking form to have baby there but you need to fill out the paper stuff as well. I think they want you to book into classes around 15 weeks.
CONGRATULATIONS PAULA on the arrival of baby Tiana Isabel. Im so proud of you! Cant wait to hear how your going.Am heading over to FB to see if you have posted.i got your message about your c section just now (2 days later) as i havnt had time to go online.
xoxox
Well done Paula and congrats to you and your DH on the safe arrival of Miss Tiana.
Can't wait to see photos! Rest up and enjoy your babymoon.
xxx
I understand Juniper...I'm just really not into politics...and it does astound me that people feel so passionately about it that they volunteer their time. I guess I used to volunteer at RSPCA..each to their own. Poor you having to hand 'em out, but good on you to support your folks.
Glenny, I've just checked out the NW website and I work every alternate Saturday....yup every one in August / September I'm working! Will have to sort something out. right off to the big lunch yeh!x
Just wanted to say congrats to Paula - welcome Tiana!
No news from this side at the moment, hope everyone is having a great day!
xxxx
Ha ha you girls are funny I don't look at BB for 2 days and I have about 3 pages to read!
Paula congratulations on the birth of Tiana, hope everything is going well.
Airline oh my god I was laughing thinking about you hiding in your house from your parents!!! Hilarious. Even more hilarious that they came around even when you said you wouldn't be there (and that you knew they would and were prepared).
Oh and on the poo issue when you are a bit constipated it is normal to then have runny stuff afterwards, it is the overflow and it's like everything has built up then the body goes a bit overboard getting it all out. Gross. I have been so regular, more than normal which is great - can get the order right in the morning ie toilet then shower (sorry tmi but I hate getting the order wrong!!)
On the gum thing, my dentist told me your gums can shrink considerably when pregnant, dehydrated or even when you are stressed. Then you get sensitive teeth as the dentine is uncovered or something. I thought I had a hole last time I went but this is what is was. And staying hydrated definately helps!
Last time the election was on it was really awkward as I know the local Labour person, and I saw him at the polling booth and he came up and talked to me and handed me the voting stuff and then I had to get it from the NP person who I actually wanted to vote for! Awkward moment really, but no way I was voting for him he is a tool! And I am in a pretty safe national seat anyway so I don't think it really matters. Although the nat party member is a bit of a tool as well!
Obviously the baby bonus thing has changed since I had DS - it used to be a one off NOT means tested payment. Oh well, hopefully we will still get something. There is a new hospital being built here and the move is in March - so I could either be the last person in the old hospital or the first in the new, but unsure of dates it changes just yet so won't hold my breath. Last time when I had DS I had a cold shower the whole time as there was no hot water in the maternity unit. Which is very uncomfortable at the best of times. This year the pipes in the hospital have frozen several times meaning there was no water at all in the hospital until midday.
Anyway enough *****ing about our local hospital, where I actually have to work tomorrow!
Take care everyone
just a quickie as we're about to leave for our 'non-dirty' dirty weekend! The thought of anything physical is way too daunting...luckily DH is v.understanding.
Glad I amused some of you with my folks' antics....how much did we pay them out yesterday after we gave them the news!!
Anyway, it was an emotional event, with mum unwrapping the babygro, seeing the word surprise then holding it up and realising what it was on....my dad gave me the biggest, hardest and longest hug and got all teary - unusual for him, as did my mum. They know all we've been through and are just delighted. It was special and I took a quick photo just after which shows them still with pink noses and wet eyes holding the babygrow.
right, DH has done everything! vacuum, animal husbandry etc so I must get off here!!
enjoy your weekends xx
Congrats Paula on the birth of little Tiana, hope you are both doing well.
I will have to catch up with everything soon. My grandfather took a turn for the worst on Wed so i have been back and forth to Wollongong and sydney in the last couple of days and i am now exhausted physically and emotionally.
Have a great weekend.
Just a quick one as I'm off to Sydney in a couple of hours...
airline, I'm glad to hear the lunch went so well! I hope you have a great weekend!
Maggie, FX you get to be one of the first in the new hospital. The current government brought in the means testing of the baby bonus mid last year I think(?).
Renee, sorry to hear about your grandfather. I hope he improves soon. :comfort:
Afm, we had our 2nd OB appt yesterday. Everything is going well. The midwife couldn't find the HB with the doppler, so she did a scan - turned out bub was swimming around upside down... She said we should put in it's diary that it presented it's bottom to the midwife. ;) Once she knew where to look she could find the HB so we got to listen to it for the first time!
Anyway, better run. Off to Sydney for a week. Hoping for some warm weather (not likely from what I've heard)! Not sure if I'll get to check in, so I'll wish you all a wonderful week now!
Paula, big congratulations!!!!!
Renee, hope things start to look up with your Grandfather. Question for you if you get time: my friend is 8 weeks pregnant and has day long MS, she said that she's been put on chemo drugs for the MS, a tablet that is dissolvable in water, about $12 a tablet. I figure you're the best person to ask re terrible MS - did your doc ever suggest anything like that? Apparently the drugs are safe for baby, but I just read 'chemo' and got a bit worried about side effects.
Juniper, have a good time in Sunny Sydney ;-)
Airline, I love what you did to surprise your folks, you put so much thought and effort into it. Re North West, I did the tour and found out the new maternity wing wont be ready until around January, so unfortunately Brunette and I will be in the old wing, whereas if you select NW as your hospital you'll be in the brand spanker!! nice! And I filled out the online form and then wondered why I hadn't heard from anyone, then found out you also need to fill in the paper form. I think with the pre-natal classes you book in after 12 weeks but before you hit 15 weeks (from memory) to secure your spot. It's $200. With pregnancy yoga you don't need to have done any yoga beforehand. I meant to book in at about 15 weeks but just never got around to it, and now finances are tight I don't think I'll be able to anyway. There's yoga on the wii fit so maybe I can do a bit of that, or see if I can ebay a pregnancy yoga dvd or something.
MaggiePie - that hot water situation in that hospital doesn't sound that great, I would hope that they have other perks that would make you choose it as your hospital?
My DH tells me that his Dad spoke to him yesterday and asked how I was going and if I was showing yet? Um, I'm a week off being 6mths pregnant, nothing fits, I'm normally small, so um, what do you think? ha ha, men! I just hope that he shows more interest in this grandchild than he does in his other 2 (DH's sister's kids).
I have got a pile of washing and folding to get to, so I hope you've all had a great weekend, and big belly rubs to all.
Chrissy
Hi all, sorry I have been quiet of late. Very confused atm, still no m/s, my breasts not as sore as they were, and today every time i go to the loo and wipe there is brown discharge, looks like start of a period, slightly red last night. Not sure what to do, my GP currently on holidays, my first scan with the fertility clinic is on Thursday, will be 7 weeks. I took a pregnancy test this morning, just to check and still positive. Just have to wait and see I suppose...
Great to see everyone's stories and everything going so well for you all! Hopefully, I'm just make a fuss over nothing :-(
CK77 - Has your friend been put straight onto this or has she been on any other medication which hasn't worked? Is she vomiting all day, everyday or is it just a couple of vomits then constent nausea? Is she even being physically sick? I know that the chemo drug is given in really bad situations but usually after a number of hospital visits due to severe M/S. I would have thought that only being 8 weeks if she is just vomiting occasionally but really nauseus maxalon would have been the first thing that would have been given to her. My Doc has mentioned the other drug and i had a girlfriend who had to take it. But my girlfriend was vomiting up to 20 times and day and was in and out of hospital before they would give her the drug. It does work very well but is as you said very expensive. Like i said it depends on the severity of her M/S but i would be trying maxalon before i jumped to that drug, especially being only 8 weeks. Hope that helps :)

Wow! I can't believe I'm halfway up the list! That's insane!!
Just a quickie because I've been MIA over the weekend and haven't had time this morning at work to read everyone's posts. I will do more persies next time I'm on, promise.
Renee, OMG you're scaring me: I can't believe I'm sixth from the top of the list! Aaaaagh, scary. Sorry to hear about your grandad.
Sweetie, Can you call your OB and move the appointment forward from Thursday to tomorrow or even Wednesday? If it helps to reassure you, I had bleeding - red and brown - very early on - about four days after finding out I was PG, so four weeks and a couple of days. I didn't have much red blood but this happened on at least two occasions and I would get brown blood when wiping after going to the loo. Our FS scanned us at 5 weeks and we were able to see two blobs on the screen and he could see their heartbeats. I had a subchorionic haemhorrage and a blood clot was bigger than the size of each bub so was put on bed rest till week 12. I'm now 22 weeks. I think I still got brown spotting/bleeding till about week 8 or thereabouts. I won't tell you not to panic because if you're anything like me that would be a pointless exercise :) But definitely call your OB and tell them you've had bleeding and you want to see him/her tomorrow.
Hi ladies, hope your Mondays are all going well!
Sweetie - I'm with Brunette, see if you can bring your appointment forward, so you don't have to wait so long. You may not have an OB yet, the FS should be able to help you though. You poor darl, it must be stressful. Like Brunette said, try not to stress too much (easier said than done), plenty of women have had spotting/bleeding during their pgs.
Renee - hope that everything is going OK with your grandfather, and the travelling isn't taking too much out of you.
Airline - hope you enjoyed your non-dirty "dirty weekend"! You had me in stitches with the story of your parents, sounds like something my mum would've done, god rest her soul! And as someone else said, no, you don't need to have done yoga to do prenatal, its nice and gentle, lots of stretching and toning (and relaxing, I liked that bit!). Do it if you can, its great.
Brunette - hehe, no, didn't find out the sex of bub at the 19 wk scan, and at the end of it the sonographer said she couldn't even tell us if we wanted her to, there was no "evidence" one way or another. Now I've just got to get through the next 11 appointments with the OB (he scans me every time)... FX I don't accidentally see something!
MaggiePie - hope you get to have your bub in the new hospital. Its a bit scary that in the 21st century in Oz we have hospitals that have no hot water / water at all! Keep your legs crossed til the new one's finished :)
glenny_c - hate to tell you babe, but we're MORE than halfway up the list! I def agree - scary! Where is the time going?
Juniper - hope you're enjoying your week here in Sydney. At least we put on a couple of good days for you on the weekend, today is another matter though :shakehead:
Chrissy - the story about your FIL made me giggle - you're right, men! Hope you're doing well.
Paula - a massive congratulations :confetti: on the arrival of little Tiana! Hope you're both doing great.
Hi to anyone I've missed, :bellyrubs: to everyone.
AFM - all good here. DH sort-of felt the baby kick on the weekend, he wasn't quite sure that he wasn't imagining it, so didn't have a very OTT reaction. Hopefully as the kicks get stronger, he'll get a bit more excited! I got worried the other day because I didn't feel much kicking for a couple of days (even though I know that this is common at this stage). Worked out it was because I'd been really stressed in the previous week and the baby was going bananas, so when I calmed down, so did bub, hence not as much kicking. Note to self - v. important to try and keep calm for bub's sake! The poor little thing.
Have a good week everyone!
Sweetie - how you going?? if they won't move the scan you could go to a GP - I went to any GP if mine wasn't available at the practice, and get 2 BTs done 48hrs apart. That's what I did before our scan as the m/s had subsided and we got worried. It was just what I needed to feel better to see the figures still going up. I had those BTs at just over 7 weeks.
Renee - I think Jaki80's due date is 28th March BTW.
Leabie - crazy parents eh?! what can you do! :-) thanks for info re. yoga, gotta go find somewhere now. I can't wait till I can feel bubba move, but equally excited for DH to feel it too. You just want them to understand and be included as much as possible don't you.
AFM - weekend was lovely. Discovered not much point eating out right now, DH gets to eat most of my portion even if it's what i 'fancied'. Had my favourite Thai red curry - chicken not prawn - ...managed some chicken, carrot, boiled rice, that was it! Had steak another night...normally have it medium-rare, but had it medium ....what a waste! lesson learned there. Was jealous of the couple tucking into tapas - said to DH, 'that's normally us'..... but couldn't physically look at what they were eating though...made me queasy!!! LOL ;-)
Told my boss and a lady who I've not worked with for a while due shifts and she got teary and said she felt like she was going to be a grandmother again! I work in a small office and due to our history they all knew what has gone on previously, I found it easier if I wasn't coping sometimes. Everyone was v. sweet, and my boss even said it felt like they'd all had a hand in it! I laughed, and said, well actually many people have been involved- just none of them.
I was awake from midnight to 1.30am ish arrrrgghhhhh. Normally I don't feel queasy but did last night. Munched loudly on a biscuit while poor DH rubbed my back (he was up at 4.15 for work bless him). Trying something different today. Instead of coming home and going to bed at 3pm I've taken dog for a walk and mooched about to see if it makes a difference. Not convinced it will, but willing to try anything.
Random statement time - I am LOVIN' OJ right now!! Naval oranges cut up and orange juice is awesome right now. x
Thanx Airline it is the 28th. I'm feeling ya with the juice too! I'm loving the golden circle stuff :)
Well thanks girls, I'm feeling ok. Only some slight brown spotting now. I was so busy at work today, had no time to make any personal calls... I'll try the clinic tomorrow see if they can fit me in earlier. Now I'm just feeling aching right hip and legs. Maybe sign of ectopic pregnancy, but suppose I should stop the self-diagnosis and see the doctor asap...
Sweetie - I hope you are feeling a wee bit better. As someone else said, it doesn't matter what people say, you will still worry. big hugs and let us know how you go with clinic. x
Jaki80 - Funny how i put in due date of 30th march as per FS, and yours and my ticker say same thing?! I know I keep talking about it, but it's just odd:-) I don't care when bubba arrives, as long as he/she is happy and healthy. xx
airline, i put in to the ticker maker my due date and first day of last period and thats what it comes up with. No matter what way i work it it all comes out the same.
Well i have now experience the scary blood on the toilet paper. Did not sleep a wink last night. I already had my first Dr's apt today so i am going to ask for another scan. Everyone i know that had IVF got a scan between the 7W and 12W one anyway so i will insist. Pitty i cant get in to the only OB in town, ive heard he has an U/S machine in his office :(
Oh Jaki...you poor thing. I hope they are sympathetic to you and give you the scan. It does not help I know, but I have read of lots of girls who've experienced it...I'm sure someone will pop on and give you their experience. Was it bright red or dark? Do people have extra scan with clinic or OB. My OB is not my FS from clinic, and although OB receptionist knows it's through FET I wasn't offered an extra scan. Let us know how you go. x
