Pregnancy after LT TTC #15

Hi everyone,

Big sigh of relief today. No frest bleeding. I can see every day will be a case of seeing what it brings.

Kelly - glad to hear the twins are doing well and you know for sure they are both boys so you can do all that shopping. I used to do the same thing when my daughter was younger. Back then (14 to 10 years ago) you could save as much as 75% which made a huge difference as a single mum. Of course the only problem was that sometimes the clothes wouldn't fit the following year because the style would be too wide or too short for her (she was a slim, tall child and I found most baby and toddler clothes were made for chubby babies). But most of the time they would be alright.
I had the scan done my Michael and he was really supportive and reassuring. My scan on Tuesday will be done by Russell.

Possums - good luck with your scan. Hopefully everything is okay. I know I'd be feeling quite nervous if I was you since you are heading into what has previously been your danger period but since you are on the extra meds hopefully you'll fly through the next few weeks without any issues.

Juniper - glad the floods aren't too close to you. I guess it would be nervewracking at the moment though given that you are cut off from the hospitals and only 2 weeks to go so could really go into labour anytime. I hope they are able to get those roads functioning again very soon. I have family friends in Brisbane and Toowoomba but I don't know what areas and as my parents are in Antartica and they are friends of my parents I don't have contact details to see if they are alright. My parents wouldn't even know about the floods yet as they have no contact with the outside world until the 25th Jan.

Lori: Yay for having the scan done by Michael, as I've said to you before I really love having him as my OB and he really makes you feel comfortable. Even though he is exxy I don't think I would feel as comfortable having anyone else deliver my babies for me... So happy you had no fresh blood this morning, although I was thinking maybe the clot you passed might have been one little bubba and you still have a sticky one. It is not uncommon to miscarry 1 twin and then go on to have a successful pregnancy with the other baby.

Lots of water here today, but luckily for us we are on high ground so have no flooding and we didn't lose power like we normally do in stormy conditions... But the humidity has kicked in again it is so yucky....

Hi Kelly, we are on high ground too. Only a few hundred metres from the river but high enough that it would need to get to over 30 metres high before we would be at any risk... though our dam is close to the house (uphill from it) and looking dangerously full. The rain has been filling it up faster than the overflow shoot can allow the water out so hope it will be okay.
We lost power last night. About midnight it went out and then around 3am it came back on and went off and back on about 10 times only a few seconds apart before going back off again until 8.30 this morning. It's quite un-nerving having no power so therefore no water (as we are on tank water and have an electric pump) and no phone etc. Very relieved when it was back on this morning. I really feel for the Queenslanders who may be without power for a long time still.

Oh My God - you miss a day or two in here and the world seems to spin in double time.

Lori - wow - congratulations on dodging that bullet! I hope you are sitting very very still and not moving a single muscle. What a story you have to tell your little one when they are older. He/she might end up being a real little dare devil and will always be scaring the hell out of you - this might just be a warm up! I am hoping and praying that everything will be okay on Tuesday xx

Kelly - how cool to see your little boys kicking each other! Good idea hitting the sales too - I always found it hard to get the size right for a year's time. DS would never fit into the summer clothes until the following winter and vice versa - so I didn't end up saving as much as I thought. Second time around I guess it would be easier to judge. Must have been pretty fun too.

Possums - yay - all still going so well in your belly. Woohoo

Nothing going on here. Just waiting for another 3 weeks till scan. I've enquired about going through the midwives here for my pregnancy care but not sure what they'll say yet as with my first pg I had gestational diabetes and a threatened premature labour so they might consider me high-risk and not take me. Otherwise I guess I'll just go to the hospital antenatal clinic. I would love to go to a private OB but had no problems with the public hospital last time and figure I've spent enough money just getting pregnant that I might do this bit on the cheap. Anyway ladies, till next time xx

Lori what fantastic news!!! As you & the others have said you definitely have a little fighter there!! I know it will be a very anxious wait til tuesday but try to rest up and chill and i'll be sending lots of positive energy your way for your miracle bub to pull through this....thinking of you xxx :hug::pray::hug:

well, i know i said i wouldn't have anymore BTs but....i was getting too anxious so i took myself off to my GP on tues and (thank GOD) my levels are still on track. They were 21 120 at 5w4d....does this seem a bit high??
This pregnancy is feeling a bit different from all the other failed ones and i'm hoping thats a good sign, with the others the hcg did not double every 2 days as they should but they struggled to double 2.5 then 3 day. This one is still bang on doubling every 2 days so i'm praying that this one is finally a strong healthy pregnancy :pray:

Ive also finally booked 7 wk scan for 25th...the next hurdle!

I want to send out my special thoughts & prayers to all the flood victims up north. I'm finding it hard to comprehend the scale & devastation, i cant even begin to imagine what they are going through. :grouphug: Usually we're hearing about bushfires at this time of year....but now floods! What a crazy crazy planet we live on!

All good here, our little man has been sooo active the last 24 hours, tummy rippling all over the place. I was unsettled yesterday listening/watching/reading all the heartbreaking & harrowing stories from the flooding, so maybe that contributed but DH and I were playing tag with him again....we push/rub belly and he responds. ;-) Can't believe how far along I am now. I was at the Target sale today too.....had to show restraint, but still got some good deals.

AFM - am having a panic attack, after being out today DH offered to get pizza for dinner. Just after I had eaten I small piece of ham and pineapple he tasted it and refused to eat any as it wasn't right. I'm so worried, I thought the pizza ovens got incredibly hot and we had eaten it fresh i.e., not left over or sitting out for ages. I'm now freaking out and praying everything is ok. We lost a baby at 13 weeks some time ago after I had food poisoning and it was a missed miscarriage. I have a scan on Thursday.......

Aimee i understand that its a worrying thing but try not to stress.... Most publications on the whole diet thing say be careful but if it does happen not to panic, it'll be ok hun.

Aimee: Thanks for thinking about us and the water. We are lucky that we haven't been cut off from civilisation (Ballarat) but if we lived in the next town over then we would have been stuck. Just hoping some of the water recedes by next week as we are going away to Swan Hill & Mildura and we have to drive through areas that have had roads cut due to flooding... and try not to stress too much about the food thing, I know it is hard but you will be surprised what our body can put up with..

Still no news from Renee, she must be having newborn snuggles by now...

I have my Ob appt today, I hope they measure me this week (they generally won't cause it's twins) but my tummy is so tight and now I'm getting pains in my ribs where they are getting stretched out plus I'm now getting breathless all the time as my lungs are getting squished as well. I'm so curious to see how big they measure me at as I have been measuring myself to be about 12 cm bigger than my dates, I think I might have a couple of strapping boys growing in there... Pity that I'm not that big so I have no idea where they are going to go, nature is amazing.....

Aimee- how are you? hope you are ok. try not to stress too much. I know I am a bit the same, worrying when I think I have eaten something I shouldn't have accidentally or whatever. I understand your anxiety, but hopefully all is fine.

airline- everything sounds great..playing tag, love it!

yogi- wow, well done. those levels do seem high. To give you comparison, here are my hcg levels so far this pregnancy: 4w2d 365; 5w2d 3900; 6w2d 19050; 7w2d 49,150
not long now until your scan!

afm- 8 week scan tomorrow! excited and also pretty nervous. Had some slight brown spotting on and off but all my levels are right on track, so my nurse said it was nothing to be concerned about. Still feeling queasy etc.

Kelly - I know nature is amazing. Last week my little buglet was stretching my tummy out so much and my ribs were killing me. Twins (obviously!) take more room. I am 5 foot 6and I wonder how people who are so much shorter fit their bubs in!!
Aimee - I am sure you will be fine - I had food poisoning at 29 weeks from fish and didn't feel my DD move the next day so went to hospital for monitoring and my OB told me not to worry and that if it was Listeria he could give me antibiotics (which he already knew it wasn't by my symptoms). In other words, you have done the right thing and the chances of anything being a problem are so miniscule it's not worth worrying about, although we all understand this can be easier said than done.

AFM - Another boiling day - 37 -so over this hot weather!! Just bought a double stroller for my DD and the new bubs, I highly recommend looking online as I just bought from a NZ online store a Baby Jogger City Mini Double for $485 delivered, when it would have cost me $849 to buy in OZ. Ridiculous difference as it's cheaper for me to buy new in NZ than to buy second hand here!

Hi girls

Sorry for the late notice but i have had a pretty rough week. My beautiful baby girl Ava Maree was born last wednesday the 12th Jan at 12.24am. She weighed a tiny 10lbs 7oz!!!!!! My waters broke at 2am on the tuesday morning and were mecconium stained quite thick, so i was told to come straight up to delivery. I was then induced as my contractions hadn't started naturally. My labour really didn't progress munch from there. It took till 4pm for them to declare established labour and i was still only 2cm dilated. By 6.30pm i was 3cm and in quite an amout of pain. We discussed an epidural not to help with pain but to try and relax my body to dilate more on its own, so that was given. By 11pm i had only gone to 4cm and had too much induction drip for them to continue it so i was told C/section was the safest way for bub to come into the world. Half way through the c/section they put me under general anesthetic as feeling was starting to return. SOOO after all that ava was born and checked then wheeled straight out to DH which i was happy about. I have had a tough time since as well as my milk is still not in due to the c/section and amount of blood loss i had. But every midwife had a different opinion in hospital and i was told just to keep at it (she also has a tongue tie which isn't helping). On friday 3 days after she was born she had not stopped screaming for days as she was so hungry they put her on formula and i am expressing till my milk comes in. She is still quite unsettled from it i think, although she had been a gem today. I have only just managed to get back online so sorry for the delay.

Woo hoo Renee!! Congratulations. 10 pounds! Wow. Hope the BF gets established soon. So thrilled to hear your news - have just been busting to find out what's been going on with you!

And, I'm losing track, but congrats and welcome to all the newbies. It is fantastic to have so many BFPs.

Lori, also, wonderful and incredible news and just thinking of you, and hoping that things will be uneventful from now on.

Possums, GL for scan tomorrow. Tell us about it. I had brown & pink spotting for 4 weeks, nearly most days, let's say from week 5 til week 9. It was horrible - I was in such a state, but it was absolutely nothing to worry about.

Juniper, hoping your baby turns. I might have missed a post or two? Has she turned? Also your *no leg cramps* vibes are working! Keep sending them. I have had two beautiful night's sleep in a row, which have been a God send.

To all the Queensland and country-Vic girls and anyone affected, just hoping that you're all doing ok. What a strange and terrifying thing is going on. It's just difficult to fathom.

AFM, fine except super-sleepy all the time and lethargic and brain-dead. Will go for nap now.

Well done on your sounds like quite a complicated birth. Be kind to yourself (I remember the 18 different opinions from the midwives on breastfeeding and everything else) - formula isn't the worst in the world, and if the breastfeeding works out, that's fabulous, but if you have problems with it doesn't quite work out as you may have hoped, Ava will be just fine.

Just a quickie, had my Ob appt and the midwife measured me and I am an astonishing 34cm @ 21 weeks. OMG no wonder I'm aching and my poor ribs and lungs are all squashed out of shape.. Lairdoz I'm only 5 foot 4 so even less space in there. So far though I'm still all out front so will be an interesting journey to see how much bigger I'll get.. No wonder I look and feel like I'm full term measuring 34 weeks....

Jaki, Kelly, Possums, Lairdoz - Thanks for your support and understanding I really appreciate it. I rang the nurse today and she said that because I didn't have any food poisoning symptoms it should be ok. I guess I just worry after last time. I even tried to vomit it up but I'm too much of a wuss, normally I would be vomiting heaps due to morning sickness by now.

Possums - goodluck with your scan tomorrow!!!

Lairdoz - wow what a great buy!!! I have a city mini single and love it, will have to keep the internet in mind for the future!

Renee - Congratulations, beautiful name. I'm only new here atm but just thought I would share, I had a c-section (breech) and problems with my milk supply and midwives telling me different things as well, just do what you feel is best and you are comfortable with. I know most people are only trying to help but it can be a tricky time.

Renee, no wonder you haven't been online! Don't worry about us. Just look after yourself. I hope you both work out the BFing soon. Have they treated the tongue tie? And such a beautiful name for a (big & healthy) beautiful girl!

WW, we went for an ECV today. Not fun, but they were able to turn bub easily. I'm worried she may already have turned back though. The OB who did it said bub is small (weight estimate for today was 6lb 6oz), so she has room to move. That's why the ECV was easy, but also why I'm worried she'll spin back to head up. The OB said if she did turn back we could consider repeating the ECV and then inducing straight after while we know she's head down...

Renee - so excited for you on the arrival of your little Ava! She was an impressive weight! Nice and healthy. Hope all settles down for you soon, been thinking of you and wondering how you're doing.

Juniper - great news that the ECV worked. My yoga teacher swears by getting down on your hands and knees (for at least half an hour), and also doing the hands and knees, bum-up-in-the-air, rocking from side to side for breech babies. Hope bub hasn't turned around again, but good there's a plan just in case.

Oh girls i'm in a right mess :cry: not coping too well with the pregnancy at the moment. I had another bt yesterday and, although level gone up to 45340, it has slowed down considerably (took over 5 days to double). Things had been looking so good up til now and i'm worried that things are starting to turn for the worst. With my last m/c the levels started to slow down at this stage too. I have booked to have a scan this afternoon as i just cant wait any longer, i need to know what is going on if everything is ok. I am 6w4d today so i'm hoping its not too early to see a heartbeat yet (have read should see hb at this stage?)

I've tried sooo hard to relax and "enjoy" this pregnancy but in all honesty....I really HATE this!! The joy of pregnancy has been totally ruined for me....i know this could very well be our baby but i just cant accept it at all. I keep expecting things to go wrong....so i'm preparing for the worst this afternoon to try and offer myself some protection.

Sorry to be a downer...again. This journey is so emotionally draining.

Yogi, as your hcg levels rise, it does slow down a lot. I'm sure your results are normal! But at the same time, I understand your concern. You might see a HB today. Plenty of women do. But, if you don't, it could just be too early. Also, if the rate is slow, it may be that the heart just started beating. This is why most Drs wait until after 7wks - before that, perfectly normal results can cause unnecessary worry. FX for great results. Please KUP.

ps. FWIW, I found I would worry terribly between each scan. We'd have a scan and I'd be worry-free for maybe 1-3 days and then I'd worry the entire time until the next one. I'd literally be holding my breath as each scan started. Even now, when I can feel her move between scans, I still find I hold my breath each scan until I see her move on the screen...

Congrats Renee!!! What a good sized little bubba and love love love the name! sounds like you've had a tough time with the BF so I hope it sorts itself out soon.

Oh Yogi you poor chook. I am such a worry wart and the number of times I've declared this pregnancy to be over for no particular reason other than it seems too good to be true is unbelievable. My FS told me that once the HCG reaches 10,000 it means less and less. From 6 weeks to 7 weeks mine went from 18000 to 44000 and I crapped myself but all was fine. But I know, until you see the little heart beat you have nothing else to go by and it's hard not to obsess over HCG.

My FS also told me that you SHOULD be able to see a heart beat at 6 weeks 2 days but as Juniper said most of the time they don't do a scan until after 7 weeks to be sure. I so hope you see something today but I DEFINITELY wouldn't be too alarmed if you don;t see anything yet. Best of luck to you darl, I will be thinking of you.

Hi everyone else! Hope you are all cooking away nicely. I am literally cooking here in the lovely Perth heat. Waiting anxiously for my doppler to arrive as despite lovely scans at 12 and 13 weeks I am being ridiculously paranoid. Have to have fortnightly scans from now on and then weekly from 24 weeks so at least I get to see my bubba lots.

Oh, and Juniper I am happy to continue with the list if noone else is eager. My BB skills are still a tad shaky but surely I can't screw up a copy and paste too badly right??!! :rofl:

Yogi - how did your scan go today? I can't add much to what everyone else has said. I really really hope things are fine in there and chances are (despite what you think) that they will be. I can completely understand your worries though. I haven't had a BT since 5 weeks (about 5 weeks ago now) and even though nothing has happened I am sure it can't be just growing nicely in there. :hug:

Bug's mum - thanks for offering to do the list. It's been put out there for one of us newbies to do it and I just haven't had the balls to take it on. For some crazy reason I decided to work a couple of extra days this year and I am already stressing about having the energy to do everything and just don't want to let you all down. My due date is Aug 18.

Kelly - oh my god, your poor belly. It must be stretched so tight! Hopefully not too long to go.

Juniper - nice work on getting your little one to turn. My yoga teacher (from last time) was always talking about crawling around on the floor in circles (can't remember which direction) to help turn breech babies. Your doc sounds great though - offering to induce straight after ecv. Good luck.

Renee - congratulations! I also am a big fan of the name. All the best with breastfeeding, I truly hope it works out for you.

Warning TMI - anyone else had diarrhoea in first trimester? I'm not sick - well, other than the constant nausea but just have a very runny bum (gross, sorry). Is it a pregnancy thing or do you think it could be some food poisoning thing that I just didn't notice. Jeez, now I have to worry about this too

kaybee- not sure about the runs...I certainly havent been that way, more inclined to the opposite since being pregnant...but it does do funny things to our digestive system. hope you are ok otherwise. I don't have a choice here re public or private care...we have to go public after 12 weeks. sorry you didnt get in with the midwives

yogi- how did your scan go? the hcg rising time does slow a lot the higher the levels and as the weeks of pregnancy progress. As you can see from my levels too (and mine are following an hcg chart showing a bell curve of how the hcg should rise). I really hope all is ok. I hope as things progress you can enjoy it more. I know how hard it can be after past losses. We are doing our best to enjoy little milestones...but I too tend to start worrying again just a few days after a blood test etc. I am trying though to be in the moment also when I can. thinking of you x


afm: DH and I are thrilled and delighted and very relieved after seeing our baby, with a wonderful beating heart, in our 8 week scan. The sonographer, who I know from previous pregnancies/IVF scans etc was lovely and said everything looks 'perfect'. I am exactly 8 weeks today and measured 7 weeks 6 days. Heart rate 166bpm.
I had tears running down my face looking at that beautiful flicker on the screen and held DHs hand tight. He sat so close to the screen just staring at our lovely little blob.

There was also some old implantation blood still there, which accounts for my brown spotting and means I can expect some more, but at least now I will know for certain where it's coming from.

yay, another milestone down. next scan at 10 weeks, unless i freak out before then, in which case I will have a scan at 9 weeks too (because in the past we lost our babies between 8-10 weeks, so I might want to check all is ok in a week's time!). And my FS wants me to have weekly blood tests until 12 weeks also (due to the antiphospholipid syndrome/clexane etc).

Bug'sMum, thanks for offering to take over the list. I've added your due date, along with Kaybee and Possums. I'm happy to continue to update my post above for the next week (unless bub arrives) and you can then copy that one and it will hopefully be up to date when you take over. :)

Possums, great news on the perfect scan! Finding out the cause of the spotting is nothing to worry about is great news too!

I haven't been on here for a little while now, but so much has happened!! Babies born and new pregnancies!!

kaybee - I am 10 wks and 5 days and go through stages when I am constipated and then have the runs. I think that your body is just trying to process the chemicals going through your body. We are also going public - I dont have a problem with it at all. The hospital we are going to has a really good reputation, so we are happy!!

Juniper - I can't believe that you are nearing the end of your pregnancy already!! I have from time to time clicked on your blog to keep updated! Hope all goes well for the birth!! For the list, I am due on 12 August 2011!!

Possums - I'm glad that you saw that beautiful little heartbeat - it is truely enough to bring tears to your eyes! And even tears to my eyes when I read it (my emotions are all over the place lately!)

Renee - congratulations on your beautiful little girl!!

yogi- I hope that your scan went well.

Bugs Mum - why do you have to have so many scans? I thought (not that I know much) that you have one at 12 weeks and one at 18 weeks and thats about it ...

Kelly - I saw the pics of your belly!! Wow!! Have the midwives estimated how big you will get?

AFM - I had my scan at 6 wks and 4 days - it showed a beautiful baby (or blob!!) with a beautiful little heartbeat! Like everyone else, I held my breath (and hubby's hand) until I knew it was alright!! Since then, we spent 2 weeks in Vietnam - making sure that I watched every little thing that I ate!! Now that we are back, I have booked into Redlands Public Hospital for the birth. I have my 12 wk scan on 31 January and then my first antinatal meeting with the hospital on 9 February!! So I'm very excited about it all!!

Possums - yay for you on a great scan!

Kaybee - I am going private but mainly due to the fact that my FS is also my OB. And since I had a C/S last time and will have one again I figured it was easier to go with the same guy. Re the diarrhoea - I sometimes do, I tend to fluctuate between that and the opposite. (I guess depending on how much chocolate I've been eating!) I wouldn't be too concerned as long as it's not persistent.

Mum-2-Be - Wow Vietnam that sounds awesome but I bet a tough place to keep track of the safe food! Christmas was hard enough for me!

Possums and Mum-2-Be - I need lots of scans to monitor bub's heart - I have antibodies which may (low chance - 2%) cross the placenta and cause congenital heartblock which is pretty serious. I didnt know I had the antibodies when preg with DS but now that we know the doc needs to keep watching to see what the heart is doing. He's not too concerned - more just to be on the safe side. Still a bit scary though and I don't think I'll relax until that bub's in my arms!

Got my doppler yesterday - nice and reassuring but not going to let myself over do it - maybe twice a week or something.

Congrats Renee on the long awaited birth of your bub. Glad to hear it all went safely in the end... I can imagine you were getting very anxious at going so far over your due date.

Glad to hear everything seems to be going well for everyone else.

AFM: I had my follow up scan yesterday to check that bub was still alive after the two massive bleeds last week. Anyway the good news is that bub is hanging in there and this time we could hear the heart beat. Bub also measured 8weeks and I was 8 weeks 1 day when I had the scan so it appears that bub has had a growth spurt or this scan was more accurate. My due date according to this scan now is the 30th August.
My IVF specialist is really happy with everything and told me I am now in the clear as far as these bleeds go and at no greater risk of miscarriage than the average woman. Huge sigh of relief!

I will be going public as well as after spending so much on IVF I can't afford to consider doing private. I need to organise getting a GP as until now I have just seen whatever doctor was on duty at a local "super clinic" where they have about 20 doctors on their books. I am hoping to be accepted into the local public hospital midwife clinic but I know it is in high demand.

I have quit with one of the families I was looking after as it had meant some 11 and a half hour days which was just getting too much. So now I am back to just working 47.5 hours a week. Luckily the kids are quite well behaved and my 14 year old daughter is great at helping keep them entertained and assisting with the craft activities etc.

It was my father's birthday today. My parents are still in antartica so out of contact with the rest of the world. In 6 days time they will have internet contact again and will find their inbox over flowing with my anxious emails... hopefully they will read the most recent first to know that everything is now okay.

Possums: Yay for your scan results, hope the next one you get to see little arms & legs as well.

Kaybee: With my pregnancy with DD and this one as well, I switch between being constipated or having diarrhoea and to be honest diarrhoea is the better of the 2. So nothing to worry about, just make sure you keep up your fluids.

M2B: I'm so jealous, I would love an o/s holiday but don't see that in my future for a very long time but we are getting away for a few days next week so that should be nice... And as for my belly size by my calculations based on my measurements from my Ob appt I should be measuring 40 weeks in about 4 weeks time (so 25 weeks for me), they haven't mentioned how big they think I will get but my Ob is hoping to get me to 38 weeks 4 days for my c/s but it will probably come down to how much room they will need and how much I can provide. Touch wood, so far the only stretch marks I have are from DD's pregnancy - which I only got in the last week - and they are on the bottom of my belly. Nothing new so far, but I'm sure they will come in time as I'm stretching faster than my skin can cope with...
