Our thoughts and prayers go to those beautiful mothers whose precious babies have been taken too soon.
Much loved & wanted son of Frosty'sMum, Benjamin born sleeping @ 14 weeks 4days. Our thoughts are with you.
Much loved & wanted daughter of Hippy Mum & Hippy Dad, Georgia Ariela taken too early from this earth 12-03-09 @ 22wk 6d
Much loved and wanted son of Chez67 & her DH, Ryan Patrick, born sleeping 17-03-09 @ 18wk 1d
Juniper, congratulations on Amber!! So exciting. And I love that name, and that you've stuck to it. I had been wondering about your whereabouts! She sounds gorgeous, and in the end, a healthy baby is the aim, right? I'm very prepared myself to let go of the "natural" birth thing. So many of my friends have had to, and I think I just want that baby here, now, one way or another.
Leabie, also wanted to say I love your name Chloe Elizabeth. That's a beautiful name.
Possums, thrilled to hear about your scan.
Sorry for no more persies, it's the damn numb hands. It's a fairly gross sensation to type.
No developments here, yet. FX for a speedy arrival, given the sudden hot weather, but baby will come when s/he wants of course!
Grub- great to hear from you! glad your move went well...although it must be hard staying away from DS (despite all the lovely free time)...so glad your mum and DH can step in. I notice your due date is june 26....that's my birthday (so of course a great date ...lol)
bugsmum- glad your scan went well and your midwife sounds very supportive which is excellent
kelly- I feel for you, sounds like the final part of your pregnancy is going to be pretty uncomfy with those two boys taking up all that room- hope you have some support around
hello to everyone else :-)
afm- still on a high after the great 10 week scan :-) next 12 week scan and screening test...bit nervous about that, but hopefully we will be low risk...did any of you ladies have an amnio? a couple of my friends have after being diagnosed with possible serious issues and i know it was stressful for them
Grub I noticed your due date of the 26th of June and then Possums commented that it is her birthday. Mine is the 28th June and the girl who was my best friend in Primary school was the 27th of June so anywhere around that time is sure to bring a beautiful soul! LOL
The IVF clinic finally returned my call from Friday this afternoon. I was a bit anxious about stopping the progesterone injections and pressaries (completely stopping without weaning off slowly). I had been on once a day injections and twice daily pressaries but apparently the doctor is confident it is fine to stop cold turkey (mind you I have had no blood tests to check my progesterone levels since I started on the injections at 4 weeks).
Anyway they have now booked me for my "10 week scan" for next Wednesday (when I will actually be 11weeks 2 days). But probably a good idea since I leave for 10 days in New Zealand the next day and therefore don't get to have the 12 week scan until I am 13 weeks and 1 day. Hopefully I won't be faced with any bad news just before my holiday. I've kept meaning to organise travel insurance just in case anything went wrong while I was away or before I left and I had to cancel but I'm not sure if pregnancy is covered. I've tried checking out a few policies online but can't find any mention of pregnancy either way... does anyone know? Might have to make an appointment to see a travel agent and get them to organise it but not sure how happy they'll be when I have already booked everything else privately.
Hey Lori - just saw your post re travel insurance. Just be careful as I know the one I usually use (HBF) says for pregnancy:
(it covers) "single pregnancy up to and including the 28th week and providing there are no known complications and that the conception was not medically assisted."
I'm sure they aren't all like that but worth checking before you buy!
worrywort- hi...sorry I missed your post before...not long to go! numb hands dont sound fun
and bugs mum thanks for the list
lori- yes check policies carefully...i know some dont cover ivf pregnancies as bugsmum says and also pre-existing conditions like those i have, so no cover for me for pregnancy related stuff. maybe call them up and ask to get a definate answer.
Thanks for the advice... it is a worry if they specifically say they won't cover IVF pregnancies... one would wonder why they specifically state that... I mean I know statisically we have a slightly higher chance of complications but I wouldn't think it was high enough to warrant not offering any cover for cancelled travel plans. I think I will definately need to see a travel agent to organise it and yes I will read the fine print carefully.
DR, POssums - hey hey that sounds like a good time of year to be born!!! my date has been revised to June 23 but i don't put a lot weight into their guesses, just know at some stage around late June we'll have number 2!
sorry DR can't help with the insurance thing. but good luck with the scan. waht date is that???
ww - oh fingers crossed it's soon!!!
afu - well i'm really worrying... I'm from FNQ, specifically the cairns area! my mum is here and so had to leave dad home alone. it was all sorted before this cyclone got all serious, usually they taunt them for awhile and obviously aren't this nasty. So i just hope dad is okay, we've got an old house that was renovated (to cyclone standards) but it's still a real worry. and the phones will probably go out, we lost the mobile towers with larry as well - so might not be able to hear if dad is okay for a few days! eek. Mum is having a major freak out and crying... but she does tend to love a bit of drama so i feel bad for her, but then get cranky when she says just silly things. the rest of the family should be fine. cross your hearts and fingers for all my family and friends in FNQ... and everyone in the region.
Good luck Grub... hope your dad will be fine. As long as he is prepared and set up in a small room, it will be a hard few days until you hear from him. x
Just wanted to send a big congratulations to all you ladies who have had their bubs. I recognise so many of you from old threads which gives me some added inspiration to continue TTC.
I hope that you enjoy every moment with your little ones and also wish you all much sleep!
Juniper & Leabie - huge congrats on the safe arrival of your precious little girls. I long for that day!!!
Possums - well done on the scan. What a relief!!! I bet you are feeling a lot more confidence now.
BugsMum - thanks for the list update.
Grub -I hope family in FNQ are all safe. Looks like it wasn't as bad as anticipated - thank god! I'm a Queenslander! The floods, the cyclones!
AFM - I had another scan yesterday. All is looking good. Dr estimates I am 9.5wks, I estimate 10.5wks, the baby is measuring at 11wks 1day. So who knows, but we are going with due date of 27th August still. I'm gearing up for the nuchal fold scan and possibly an amnio. I'm very prepared to do one if necessary.
I'm getting 3 good days and then about 3 sick days. Still on progesterone pessaries, but looking at slowing that down and cutting them out soon which I'm hoping will help the symptoms...........also due to all the surgery I've had on my abdomen I am showing already. It's becoming harder to hide it from people.
well it ended up crossing slightly further south than originally predicted, which means that was better for my family and friends... not so much for poor old tully and mission beach which sounds like it's been devastated. I think you'll find, like in larry, most of the destruction was because of older buildings that weren't cyclone coded (ie there was no code when they were built) and all the new stuff stuck well.
so big sigh of relief that all is good. and seriously, the fact that over such a large area, there is mostly crop and vegetation damage is pretty good all things considered... not sure if that came out right but i'm just so glad there's been no deaths!
yayay mindhugs!!! scans are such a double-edged sword - you want to see but you don't jic!
possums - was it you asking about amnio etc??? cos Murph (you know her hey?) had one with Jazzy and i'm sure she'd give you her perspective on it.
well i still have to stay clear of Ash! boo hoo. but i think probably tomorrow. I did sneak in a cuddle this morn tho... he kept following me, whinging wanting to be picked up... it turned out all he wanted was a cuddle from his mummy (didn't want nan-nan) so that made me feel so wonderful. once he deemed cuddle over, he was happy to play lol
i also officially feel huge! 20 weeks and i feel about 40 weeks. putting my joggers on this morn was a tribulation... ended up getting dh to tie the laces cos it was just too much effort. pft.
suppose that what happens when you get UTD when your first is 10 months old lol. still all fat and loose from the first one!
hope you are all well girls. thanks for the well wishes. ox
My nephew lives in Townsville and as per a normal 22 year old wondered what all the fuss was about.
We also have family friends who own the caravan park in Cardwell. They all evacuated to Townsville but we don't know if they have anything left standing at this point in time will have to wait and see.
With all these things happening it makes you wonder if anywhere is safe to live these days... either bushfires, floods or cyclones...
Grub, glad your family are all safe. Very cute story about the cuddle.
mindhugs- great news about your scan...you must also feel a bit more reassured now, as each week passes. I am showing a bit too...I am only small and any bump is noticeable...but people at work know anyway, so I dont have to hide it
kelly- much be scary for your friends who own that caravan park...lol about your nephew. And i hope you are doing ok
afm- no option for private obstetrics after 12 weeks here, and yesterday had my first appt with the hospital antenatal clinic...it was exciting to finally make it far enough to go to the clinic and the appt. went well and my latest progesterone results are all good (still over 200).
Just a question for those who are further along, or who already have a child... how many scans did you have/are having during yourpregnancy? I really do wish I could have my own Ob throughout, just for reassurance and the chance for more scans if i am anxious etc. The clinic is good of course, and because I am high risk I will see a dr each time, but it's different to building up a rapport with the same person each time.
So from here it will be 12 week, 18 wk, 28 wk, then regular scans from there to check growth (due to antiphospholipid). I asked if I could have any other scans inbetween, but nope, unless I 'self requested' and I am not even too sure how that works. I have asked my IVF nurse, who is also a midwife at the hospital....in the past she has offered to help me out with extra scans if i get anxious. I guess once I can feel movement that will be good, but until then....
Just wondering what others experiences have been, or what others plans are? thanks :-)
I haven't been around much the last week - school's gone back and it's bloody hot so I've been coming home and falling asleep. And, as usual, after spending forever catching up I have no time left to reply.
Possums - so stoked for you about your scan. About the number of scans during pg - with my DS I had the normal 12 and 18 then had an extra 2 or 3 near the end due to my diabetes just to check bub's size. If they won't let you maybe you can organise an extra hospital appointment to see a midwife and at least listen to the heartbeat???
Congratulations on the births of Chloe and Amber!!!! Love the names. Not loving the birth stories though - Hope holding your beautiful bundles makes everything else unimportant. Congratulations again ladies xo
Grub - phew that you and your fam are ok after the cyclone. I just can't imagine how scary it must be.
Mindhugs - Awesome news too about your scan. It must be going really well if it's already measuring big. I have also been covering a very full looking belly at work.
Dreamrise - I cannot believe the companies don't cover ivf pregnancies. It might make sense in the first few weeks, but I thought we were 'normal' after about 8 weeks in terms of risk. Good luck - I'm sure you won't need it anyway.
I know I have missed so many people - it is just too hot in this room to type any longer. My 12 week scan is finally tomorrow. I hope the extreme temps haven't done any harm. I don't see how it can cool down in there when I am so hot out here. Very nervous. Well, only one day until I find out. Talk to you tomorrow xo
kaybee- good luck for your scan! (and thanks for the suggestion re the heartbeat, any reassurance would be good i think) i hope all goes really well for you tomorrow- how exciting to reach 12 weeks :-)
