kass: yeah nice of te hospitals to give you a choice !!!. lol. what date is your scan ?, hope all is well. i can't believ you're 18 weeks, it seems to have gone fast. for me that is. while it has taken me forever to get to 16 weeks. lol. ha haha
dreamrise: i am also a bit scared how i will cope with labour etc, but i had all my boys drug free and quick labours. DH delivered my last baby he was so quick. lol. i am aorried how tired i will be with a family and a baby, but luckily all boys are at school so i will have a break during the day. I don't know what is a high BP, mine was 115 over 55 and they said it was a little low but o.k ???. I love the prediction of the birth time. bit freaky if the doc is right. lol. good luck to you i am sure it'll all be fine. i am 39 and know a few older mums that all went natural and fine births. good luck again.
trishy: hope you're feeling better soon . sickness and pregnancy are not nice. hope all goes well for you. not long to go now.
possums: good idea to try not to stress, the docs have done this before. my first was 3 weeks early. 7 pounds and needed no help at all. i went home the next day. lets pray all is well with baby and he is as strong as his mum. good luck to you and baby.
kaybee: yes i have the whole day off !, i actually have acupuncture also, yipee for me. DH has rest of day off after lunch so it is a real treat.
you're so close now i can't believe it. glad you're organised as you never know what baby or body might do. fingers crossed for a quick labour with little pain. or is that not possible. anyways good luck to you.
afm: well i have my day off tomorrow. acu booked. lunch with DH. rest of day off , til we need to get bys that is so a few child free hours and quality time for us. i am so excited about it. lol. i know t is sad ha ha.
i am still feeling sick and yuk. i weighed myself on my scales at home with clothes and weigh 3 kg less than hospital scales. my sis said i prob put my scales back 3 kg. lol. grrrr. meanie ha ha.
my sis is 27 weeks now and said everyone can tell she is preg finally. about time as i look fat and feel huge.
off to bed now for some beauty sleep, i wanna look good for tomorrow. lol
Lori it sometimes worry me being older but I keep thinking our bodies are designed to do this so that kinda gets me through. More worried about being sick.
I ended up on the drip yesterday for 2 bags. My ob appointment got cancelled to Sat.
No Lori not at this stage, I did have HG with my dd too but it stopped about 24 weeks. With this little boy it kinda stopped 25/26 weeks for about 2 to 3 weeks and then started again. Its getting worse towards the end and there is a family history of HG. My mum had it this bad with my brother and her sister also had. Mum told me she was vomitting up to labour, during labour and 2 days after. I have spoken to my Ob about the family history and how sick I have been, I will most likely be on a drip during labour and have to have zofran through the drip as well. I weighed myself a few weeks ago and I'm about 2 to 3 kilos lighter than when I got weighed at my egg collection surgery. I was carrying some extra weight due to the IVF so I'm not too worried about it. But at the same time weight dropped off me when I was breastfeeding my dd so I am also concerned about not having a buffer.
Lori have you done your tax return yet for your medical out of pocket with IVF, I just finished mine today. $10,000 plus out of pocket with IVF and I also have spent over $1,000 on zofran tablets this child is already proving to be very expensive. I hope this trend doesnt continue. Because you only get 20 cents in the dollar that is an offset I only get a refund of about $2500. Doesnt seem right. Sorry ladies kinda of hyjacked this post with other stuff.
Possums, sorry to hear about your news my thoughts are with you and your little boy but i think everything will be ok and he will be healthy. Keep us posted xxxxxxx
Hi to everyone else sorry i dont have time to do persies but hope your all doing well xxxx
AFM nothing new just loving being preggas!! starting to get more tired and sore but counting down my last 10 weeks of work xxx
Trishy, I haven't done my tax return yet. I'm hoping I'll get a bit back as I had 2 full cycles and 1 frozen cycle in this financial year. My income also changed alot and with having my rental property I'm hoping that I'll get a bit back. It would be great to get enough back to pay off the last of my IVF loan (I think I owe around $3000 still).
Everytime I have tried to use the Centrelink online estimator to work out whether paid parental leave or the baby bonus would be better for me, it kicks me off half way through. I think the baby bonus will end up being better (I think parental leave will end up only be around $1000 in total more due to it being taxable and not being able to get family tax benefit etc) and then if the perfect job comes up before bub is 18 weeks old I will be free to apply for it. But it would be nice if Centrelink could actually make it clearer how much I could get.
My daughter (who turns 15 in Dec) asked me how old she was when I went back to work (I worked up until 3 weeks before her first due date - though she came late) and when I told her I went back to work (only 2 x 4 hour shifts a week) when she was 5 weeks old, she told me she felt "ripped off". I had explained that babies can't go into paid childcare until they are 6 weeks old but my parents looked after her while I was at work. My daughter asked me how long I was going to stay home with this baby and when I said it depends on what jobs become availabe she told me that she thinks to be fair I need to go back to work when it is 5 weeks old! Isn't it funny how sibling rivalry can kick in already (even before the sibling has been born and even with such a big age gap!) I tried to explain to her that it is different now as I can't get my parents to look after the baby for a few hours (since they live nearly 2 hours drive away) and I don't have a job waiting for me, but she didn't care. I'm not so bothered about when I actually go back to work so long as it's not many hours. I'd rather start earlier with a job with limited hours then be off work completely for a longer period of time but then have to go back to long hours again.
Anyway the conversation has reminded me how important it will be to make sure that everything appears "fair" between my daughter and the new baby! LOL
DR - that's pretty funny! I was just talking with a friend who is having her first child and I remembered how many more issues there were to deal with and how difficult it is when it's your first, but you've made me realise that it will probably be just as tricky this time - only the problems we encounter will be different. Bring it on!!!!
Possums - how are you going girl? Hanging in there still I hope!
Trishy - thanks for the tax reminder - would be nice to have that sorted before baby comes - oh well, I'll put it on the list and see how far I get. Did you feel ok when you were breastfeeding your DD? If so, can you just kind of make sure you are eating more than enough to make up for any you might lose? Maybe it's not that simple. I was connected to drips during my last labour - which is another reason I would so love to not be induced this time around. I mean, It's no big deal really, but every time you have to pee or move you have to take this damn thing with you. But, in the long run it's no biggy.
Oneday - so glad you are enjoying your pregnancy. Past the horrible fears of the first trimester.
Hi to everyone else - kass, JBM and everyone else!
AFM - not much happening. Still enjoying things, but think I am pretty ready and willing to go anytime now. I really don't think anything will happen for at least a couple of weeks. I am doing weekly acupuncture now to hopefully get things started before the hospital can attack me with induction drugs! I really have to try to remember to keep an open mind about things. I am thinking of taking up a friend's offer of being an extra or alternative support person for labour and birth. Who are you guys having with you?
kaybee: not long to go now. yeah for the acu, i hope it helps, i love acu it is so so good. it's prob good to have as much support as you think you need during the birth as men aka DH's sometimes are watching Tv, falling asleep, and sometimes generally not really helping much. lol....... my DH learnt after baby one to NOT do those things. ha ha ha. good luck to you. hope all goes well.
dreamrise: lol for the sibling rivalry..... I will have the opposite for me as I stopped work during preg of DS1 due to sickness and didn't go back to work til DS 3 was 3 years old. so i had a pretty big break but this time i will have to work most of the way thru, even if it is work from home. and i will prob have to go back to work within 6 weeks after baby, prob work from home after that a couple of days a week. :-(
good luck to you and i am sure your daughter will be fine once baby comes. x
oneday": yeha for counting down the final weeks before you finish work. not long to go.
trishy: I wish my weight would be like that, I just feel so so fat and since i got preg on a fresh cycle i still had the extra weight from egg collection on top of my weight. I am 4 kg heavier since pregnant and feel so so yuk about how i am looking. I don't know much about the tax stuff but i am sure i will get it organised eventually. lol. good luck toy ou
kass: counting down to friday for your scan, good luck to you. it'll be great to see baby again, they are so big at this scan and you can see so much but the full bladder thing after 45 minutes of pushing on your bladder is not good. lol. ha ha. hope all goes well. x
hi to you who i forgot >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
afm: well i finally have a date for my scan and it is exactly on the day i will be 20 weeks. fri 19 aug. so not lont to go. 3 weeks and 3 days but i am not counting down. ha ha ha.
i have a cold and have not been sleeping well. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. i have the day off at home today just to recover. i think i need it and DH said i needed it too, lol, so cute.
i have been so tired because of not good sleeping cause of blocked or runny nose. so i think i am going to go to bed very early tonight.
JBM - hope you're feeling better soon! Yay for getting a date for your scan - not that you're counting down Do you really have to hold it in the whole time? Uncomfortable!
Kaybee - hope you're enjoying the acupuncture, and that it helps!
DR - lol! I'm sure your daughter will be fine once bubs arrives. Good luck getting the tax done - I haven't even attempted to start mine yet.
Oneday - Enjoy those last days of work Not long to go now!
Hi Trishy, possums, and everyone I've missed!
Still nothing new here, just waiting for my scan...
hi everyone, sorry for no personals, but just wanted to let you know that we are hanging in there and hoping our precious little boy can keep growing inside me a bit longer before he needs to arrive. I am having CTG monitoring twice a week to check his heartbeat/movements; had steroid injections this weekend to boost his lungs just in case he needs to arrive very soon; and another scan tomorrow... a call will then be made whether we keep going as is, or whether I need to be induced.
DH and I are doing all we can to be prepared and I am doing my best to stay calm and take things step at a time.
We know we are past the worst danger zone etc, it is still stressful though, because he won't just be an early baby, he will be smaller than usual and probably not as strong, due to the restricted growth (technically now we are classified as Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) - so different to just a bub who arrives a bit early). We aren't sure how much longer he'll need in hospital, how long he will need help feeding etc. So those things we do wonder about and have been told he could need to be in hospital for some weeks (hate the thought of having to go home without my baby, but it's good knowing medical care is so good now). And there is always the hope that he will be stronger than that too.
I also so hope the induction progresses and isn't too much for our little baby to handle...otherwise it will be a c-section. Anyway, day at a time!
Trying to do my meditations and still enjoy this last stretch of being pregnant, which has been such a beautiful journey.
sending you all the best and belly rubs

Hi girls just a quick one from me, Possums im glad things are still going ok and just taking it at one step at a time i think thats the best you can do! I have everything crossed for you that it all works out for the best in the end xxxx
DH and I started birthing classes last night we really enjoyed it and DH even said that he learnt alot he didnt know just in the one class and there is a few couples around our age so hopefully we can keep in touch! When we got there i was looking around at all the belly's thinking i must be one of the first due as i thought my belly looked bigger then most but as we went around the circle and introduced our selves and said our due dates im the last due lol so my belly must just be big not that i mind i love it
possums: keep hanging on. all is o.k. good luck for the rest of the pregnant time. x x
hi to everyone.
just a quick one for me. I have had a hectic past day !
I started bleeding yesterday arvo, and even though it was only a small amount I had the typical pregnant woman emotional event !!
I had to go to emergency dept about 5 pm as the bleeding just didn't stop ?
had scans and tests, equipment stuck into me and all that yuk stuff. the AAE doctor couldn't tell if my cervix was open or not ( cause she didn't know what she was doin)
anyway i had to come back to the hospital preg assesment centre today and got checked out by the docs there.
all seems to be fine. I got to see baby, jumping aroung , waving, and moving heaps
so that was good and all seems to be fine but after a night of panic i feel exhausted.
the doc said it was commen for some small bleeding but if it increases or i start to get a lot of pain then i have to come back immediately.
it was so scary.
noe she wants me to have another app for a scan next friday then see the doc in a week after that. so i get another scan.
I am now back at work as we have someone going away for 5 weeks and i have 100 jobs to do !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You poor thing JBM thats horrible i can only imagine how horribly scared you were!!! so glad it has settled down and i hope it clears up completely very soon xxxxx
afm- scan today showed our boy is still growing, so we could have another week now ...yay! was such a relief....and as the Ob said today's results could have been much worse....amniotic fluid still very low (and getting lower) but the further along we go the bigger and stronger he gets. His estimated weight now is 2kg...we are in the 9th percentile for size (so in the smallest 10%)...every week counts, fingers crossed from here.... we hear such a range of stories about small/growth restricted babies...it seems some do really well from early on and others take longer, so here's hoping our beautiful boy will do well from early :-)
