Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Found out late this arvo that I don't have an ongoing pregnancy, so will have to leave you lovely ladies.
Seeing fs/on tomorrow for a check on what's happening. Have to fast in case its ectopic pregnancy so will undergo surgery. Unsure what that will mean for future ivf cycles as this was my second ever 'pregnancy', first one was successful.
Getting back on the ivf train when able to. Numb right now so guessing it hasn't hit me yet.
Good luck for your pregnancies ladies xo.

I'm so sorry for your loss, hopeful mum. Take care of yourself xx
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
I am so sorry Hopefulmum. I have been following your posts every day. I can imagine that numb feeling. I had that with my miscarriage last year. I hope the grieving period isn't too hard on you and that you get some peace in time.
Be kind and patient with yourself.
Hope surgery goes ok.

Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Worrywart, it's so good to see you posting and your ticker moving along. You are so close to the finish line. How are you feeling?
Me, I'm having a rough time. Been hospitalised twice this week with morning sickness and it's now been confirmed I have a DVT in my right leg. My clexane dose has been increased and an urgent referral sent to the haematologist and ante natal clinic. I'll have more regular scans to check on bub and the placenta etc. This is a huge blow for me as it means moving to a high risk hospital that does not allow students and I was really relying on having my student midwife there for support. I'm guessing it will also mean no active birth and being confined to the bed with monitors etc. As for the future I'm guessing I'll now be on lifelong warfarin as this is my second occurrence of clots. Whether that means no subsequent children, I do not know. I'm only nine weeks and it's a lot to take in. What's worst is knowing I could have prevented this by not letting the morning sickness stop me from drinking and being more active. Sorry for the novel.

Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Hugs spoons sounds like a lot to deal with. Don't beat yourself up about the morning sickness preventing you from doing stuff. I was hospitalised last time for HG and I'm skirting a thin line this time. Unless you experience it you can't imagine how overwhelming it can be.
And we thought we had jumped the biggest hurdle finally getting pregnant!
In terms of labour, I had an amazing labour that I still smile about. I was monitored and on my back with a drip! Exactly what I didn't want but wow still an awesome experience so don't get too down about it. Just trying to give you an upside to a labour that was more monitored than the ideal :)

Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Thank you, Joeve. You are so right. I put so much time and energy into actually getting pregnant that I barely gave a thought to what pregnancy would be like for me. My mum never had morning sickness so I just assumed I'd be lucky like her.
Thanks for sharing your birth experience. I went and found your birth story and found it encouraging. Maybe I'll go look for some more positive high risk/induction birth stories.
I've had a good day today. Managed to eat some crackers so fingers crossed I can keep it up.
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Spoons they are the exact same words I said... I spent SOOOO much time imagining having a baby, and trying to conceive, that I really never considered what pregnancy would be like. It was sooo much harder than I imagined. But you will get there. It feels like forever, but before you know it, you'll be holding that precious bundle Xox

Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Thanks myturn. Yesterday at the chemist I saw someone with a tiny baby, only a few weeks old. The bub got a bit grizzly so his mum picked him up and cuddled him and it was a touching moment that reminded what I'm doing this all for. I don't actually see many babies! Especially that small.
The last few days have not been bad on the morning sickness front so hopefully I'm getting over that hump. *touch wood*

Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Hi all,
Hope all doing ok. I am so pleased to say our little boy Zachary was born on 21 March very quick labour, two days after cerclage removed. The moment he was placed on my tummy was the happiest of my life so far (except for birth of my daughter and when I saw U2 in high school!). He weighed 3.3kg, and was born at 39 weeks, so 3 weeks earlier gestation than my DD, and quite a bit smaller. Hence the VBAC (we certainly weren't pushing for it - literally) with forceps. Yes. Fun.
I have had some complications/slow recovery things (fainted not long after delivery, blood clot (huge!) expelled a couple days after birth, anemia, ongoing incontinence, haemorrhoids (painful) and I had to go back into hospital for anti's due to an infection (vomiting, fever, shakes).
My DH and family are very supportive. My DD is a handful (school holidays) and being very rough with DH, and with me. She talks or yells loudly all day, and things with her and DH are really at breaking point. Any tips on this? She is high energy, argumentative, extremely verbal and sensitive, disguised as anger/rage. She has taken to rejecting me and never leaving DH's side. I am still too sick to leave bed mostly.
I am BFing now, but very open to bottles if it will make family life easier and as the little one gets bigger, I will listen to my body for when time is right.
So grateful to have come this far.
Good luck to everyone else on this messy insane journey.
WW

Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Congrats on the birth of your baby boy!
Sorry about the complications and your DD. Must be a big a big adjustment for her xx
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
WW I a so pleased to read about the arrival of your DS. Massive Congratulations. I didn't realise your DD was a c/s birth. I hope your recovery is going ok.
My 3rd DD has just turned 4. She is challenging. Very challenging. Got to run but will be back later.

Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Congratulations worrywart! I'm sorry you've been having a rough time. I hope things settle down for you soon.
I had my 12 week scan today and saw our cute little jitter bug bouncing around on the screen. We see the GP next Friday for the nt results.
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
NT results were all good :) I'm still struggling with nausea and the odd spew. I'm really hoping that settles down in the next few weeks.
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
I'm still here, quietly stalking other parts of the forum. Feeling a lot better as far as the morning sickness is concerned. Pretty tired and sleeping in a lot. Got my first hospital appt next week and the anomaly scan coming up too. Bit nervous about that one. Just hope everything is okay in there.
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Spoons glad the sickness is settling for you. The next scan is such a great experience as you get to see Bubs for longer while they measure everything ;)
Good luck!
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
All looks good on the scan today. DH shed a few tears, bless him! Baby was in a funny position to get a proper look at the spine. I did some jumping around and drank some cold water but Bub was too comfy in there so I'm going back on Wednesday to try again. So I get another look!
Finally had my first appt at the hospital. There were a few little stuff ups but it was good to touch base with them and get the ball rolling. I go back again in a few weeks.

Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21

Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
What brilliant news Matthews Mum. On my way! So pleased to hear your expecting again. What a journey it must have been.
I remember you from many years ago when I was ttc my 3rd. She arrived early 2011. We didn't prevent after her birth and eventually in 2014 I conceived my son. Then by some miracle a surprise pregnancy occurred when he was 9months old. I'm still getting my head around it but know what a blessing he or she is. I can't believe how long and how many losses we had ttc no 3 and 4 and then number 5 came along when we were preventing. I never would have predicted this.
Wishing you a happy and healthy remained of your pregnancy. I hope it hadn't been too stressful. My anxiety was through the roof with no 3 and 4. Now I'm just so worried something is wrong and just want to get through this NT scan and morphology scan.
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Thank you mildez,we are in the same belly buddies group ,,still have to pinch myself sometimes ,yes feeling very scared but I knew that would be part of the deal..when is your nt scan ?
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
My NT scan is on Friday. I wished I had of had the harmony test and now I can't get into an Ob for a month. I've also been having some bleeding and some other issues relating to my anatomy :(
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Mildez- everything crossed for Friday for you ,even legs ,dh and I are too scared to do anything down there ,drs haven't said its off limits but I'm being slightly irrational with this pregnancy ,think after loss and ltttc it's part of the course..seems heaps quieter at bb than it used to
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
That's completely understandable Matthews Mum.
Yes BB is now very quiet which is such a shame. It was so active when I first joined back in 2009.
My scan went well. I was really worried about it and will be about the morphology scan too when the time comes. Bub looked good I think although I won't get the results for a week. NT was 1.8mm, Hr 154. I think I got a hint of The gender although we were not planning on finding out. Bub is measuring a few days ahead.
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Mildez -glad your scan went well, thanks for the update ,I was thinking how it went,,afm - feeling bit out of touch with things ,looking for a mattress and haven't been able to find one with the waterproof on one side, thought maybe they have found through research that their not safe ,so ring SIDS and kids ,and lady said ring back on Monday ,I have no idea what sort of mattress your talking about ,did they used to sell them ,,I'm like my 10 year old had one ...things change over the years though,,and they recommend sleeping on back now ,not side ,,,6th pregnancy ,3 living children ,and I'm thinking maybe I need to go to antenatal refresher course ,lol

Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
My Mattress on the cot isn't a special one although it is super hard. Our 12month old still sleeps in our bed (and still on the boob). We have only just started putting him in his cot which is a foot from our bed but he doesn't last for long. We will keep trying. I don't know where to put our baby when it arrives. I thought about a bassinet but it will grow out of it quickly. I am wondering if you can get a large cradle that's not the size of a cot but bigger then a bassinet with deeper sides so it wont flip out of it as soon as it could a bassinet. SIDS recommend a well fitting firm mattress with no bumpers, teddies etc. I will have one of those breathing monitors on our baby. I love the piece of mind. Its not hospital grade but gives some reassurance that it will go off if bub stops breathing. I am really paranoid about SIDS. Although obviously some families are at higher risk it can also randomly happen to anyone. I probably stopped using the monitor with DS when he was about 8months as it was having so many false alarms.
I know I don't belong in this group anymore seeing as this wasn't a ltttc conception but thought I would pop in anyway seeing as no one else is currently active in here.
I had a scare on Monday. After work which of course was after hours I read my voice messages on my home phone and had a message from the Dr saying I needed to come in and could I call for an appointment. Naturally I assumed it was a bad result from my NT scan. I couldn't call until Tuesday morning so spent the night googling and panicking with little sleep there was something wrong. Anyway I was able to call yesterday and I was told my thyroid results are abnormal. I don't know my NT results but the fact it wasn't mentioned I am hoping means a low risk result. I will find out what's going on with my thyroid today with any luck.
In other news I am looking forward to the 2nd trimester which is only a few days away. I am starting to feel a few taps inside which is amazing. I love feeling them move.
Do you have any names picked for your little girl?
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
yes i like the breathing monitors as well ,my 10 year old had one ,it was a babysense one ,noticed the other day they have come down in price ,maybe as they have been around a bit longer now and other brands are available now ,,ive bought a babyhood cosy crib to go into the cot to bypass the bassinet stage ,they used to call them snuggle beds, used them for my now 18 and 10 year old ,was reading they can be used as a co sleeper as well...hope the thyroid issue can be sorted without too much drama..im calling my babygirl Annabelle Lola ,ive had Annabelle at the back of my mind since ds1and Lola is in memory of my mum, trying to find ways of including her ,she was here through so much of the ivf ,acupuncture ,oesteopath the chinese herbs, sad that she passed before seeing me pregnant again,if i have anything to do with it though this baby will grow knowing her nanna loved and wanted her long before she was born
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
The monitor I used with my last bub was the Snuza Hero Baby Movement Monitor. I had used others with my older kids but definitely found this type to be convenient. Very small and portable.
I am sorry to hear your mum won't get to meet precious Annabelle. I absolutely love the name. I had it on our list but DH refused as its close to our eldest daughters name. And 2 of our kids have rhyming names. It wasn't deliberate but it turns out everyone gets their names mixed up ALL the time.
I saw the most loveliest GP yesterday. My thyroid TSH level is extremely low. They want another level done in 3weeks and depending on that result I may have to start thyroxine. Apart from that I am not anaemic and the ultrasound was very reassuring. Risk of trimsomy's were all 1:8000 or more. I have found the fatigue to be absolutely crippling so I am glad to know its not only breastfeeding and pregnancy making me feel so bad. I am really struggling to work. I am suppose to be increasing my hours in 2weeks. I can't get out of it but I do think I can do shorter days (maybe 7hours instead of 8 so not heaps).

Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Matthewsmum: I haven't been on BB in a long time but logged in tonight and I am SO thrilled to see your news that you are pregnant !! huge congratulations to you, sounds like you have been through a lot to get there, 11 transfers in a lot to go through :( I hope things go well for you
Mildez: also happy to see your name and another bundle on the way, you have been through a lot too, hoping all goes well for you too

Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Mildez-shorter workdays sound good ,I'm very tired as well but think that is my iron levels ,they have put me on iron supplements ,I was taking the multivitamins but blood test showed it wasn't enough iron so I'm on both now..minniemouse -thanks,nice to see another familiar name ,hope all is well with you and yours ....afm- officially in the 3rd trimester ,,furthest I'm been pregnant since my 10 year old ,,still scary but hopeful

Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Happy 3rd Trimester. I can't wait to be in the 2nd. Only a few days to go. I think this is the longest 1st trimester I have had. Although they all feel long to me at the time until your looking back on it. I am now sporting a cute small but hard bump and getting some glances.
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Thanks ,my 10 year old said just last night ,oh annabelle is growing ,look at your stomach ,how big it is getting ,,it taken a while for him to bond with her ,he kept calling her the embryo for quite a while,he has really let his barriers down now but still bit scared I think which I think is understandable so I didn't push him, just let him let the walls down when he can,,when he kissed my stomach the other night he said goodnight annabelle ,stay alive,,and he asks me everyday ,have you had movement?,,he was only three when we buried Matthew ,but he was quite involved with the funeral process and the memorial things we have done and will continue to do..hear the kids talking though and they say ,she's made it further than Matthew ,so that is reassuring to them ,,and me ...thanks for chatting to me
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Yes that's understandable. My sisters son was the same (she lost his brother at 24weeks). It was hard for him to get excited and didn't really expect a baby I don't think until he was visiting him in hospital after he was born.
My boss guessed yesterday that I was pregnant which is kind of a relief as I didn't really want to spill the beans. She was very good about it which was good as I was worried how she would feel with me taking leave again. I don't know what I'll do, I don't know if I should resign and just pick up the odd casual shift down the track. Or try and take a year off and just do 1day a week. Realistically with 5kids I don't think I can manage doing more then 1day for that first year or 2.
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Yes ,you will have your hands joyously full,,unfortunately these things come down pure financial reasons at times ,glad your boss was good about it though ,still remember the night I told my boss ,this was back in the early 90's and he gave me the two heaviest jobs for the night ,ratbag he was,,there is a lot more health and safety and unfair dismissal laws in place now which is good I think in the case of some boss's..afm - feeling the heat ,had the air conditioner on more than I should ,have to start saving up for the electricity bill, lol
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
How is the heat treating you?
Nothing to report on my end. Just waiting to have some more tests done early Feb and I will get the results a few days later. I don't see the Ob for the first time until late Feb when I will be about 18weeks.
Struggling at work. I am so tired. I am normally a morning person and flake towards the afternoon. It was such a struggle to get up today.
I am hanging out to feel movements. I think I feel the odd tapping sensation but really very little yet. My placenta is at the front so maybe thats why I am not really feeling much as I have with my previous pregnancies taking out the first. I find this whole pregnancy thing really stressful. Although I also don't wish for it to be over for a long time yet.
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Mildez- my placenta is at the front as well ,they told me movements wouldn't be as noticeable ,I've been really tired as well ,been putting it down to low iron and my age ,I had the glocose test the other day and drifting off for a few minutes in the pathology waiting room, got startled when someone opened the door,lol...anyways the test came back positive ,so new one for me ,got an appointment Monday at a different dr ,my obs referred me to ,and also see a diabetes educator up at the hospital on Monday as well, then Wednesday see a dietician ,have spoken to her over the phone and asked what should I be doing ,,she said no lollies ,no full sugar soft drink ,no full sugar jelly ,no rice ,,she asked does your diet usually have these things in it ,,when I said no ,,she said on Wednesday we will look at carbs ,maybe we can change some things there,,,if there isn't any thing we can change dramatically in your diet ,you might need some insulin ...she said could be just your age ,as I'm a tad over 38,,yes bit over that lol,by nearly a decade ..and my history with pcos plus one of my uncles was insulin depended on my mums side ...I'm finding bubs quiet periods stressful ,when I got to 24 weeks though I remembered what my dr said ,that after 24 weeks we can at least try to help ,,where with Matthew ,it was there's nothing we could of done ,he is just too tiny,,let us know how your tests go
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Yes your right when you hit 24ish weeks there is hope of survival and a happy ending if something goes wrong.
So you remember when you started to feel your Bub moving?
That would have been a surprise the diabetes. Have you had anymore news about that?
-
Re: Pregnancy after LT TTC #21
Started feeling flutters like butterflys in your stomach about 16 weeks I think ,just slightly though ,,,she had a quiet day today so I took myself off to the gp and she did a heartbeat check for me ,was reassuring ...had quite a few appointments in regard to the gestational diabetes ,,dr is checking thyroid ,I'm doing monitoring at home 4 times a day for a week ,then if levels are still high ,just have to go on insulin ,they have found a few things in my diet though ,,been having too much watermelon ,rockmelon and pineapple ,and too much fruit juices ,,so might make a difference cutting these things out ...they've got a plan for bub ,she will have to be admitted to special care nursery so that she can have her blood sugar levels monitored after birth ,,I have an appointment to go in at 36 weeks and try to express some milk for them to freeze so its there if she needs it ,not sure how that will go as I've had trouble with milk production in other pregnancy ,,they said we will try and if we can't ,she'll still be fed ,so that's the main thing ...have you had your tests and waiting on results ?
-
