    stillbirth at 29wks

is anyone on clexane injections due to growth retardation? we lost our little boy, Kyle, at 29wks as he stopped growing around 20wks. They found tiny clots in the placenta which cut off nutrients, blood flow and oxygen. Has anyone had the same problem?

    hi steph26
Im new to the site and really happy Ive found it. Like you we lost our baby girl Sabrina last year at 23 weeks, and now am 16 weeks pregnant and on clexane injections and asprin daily. Ive taken these from the moment I found out I was pregnant at around 4 weeks. Ive got Antiphospholipid syndrome and lupus which make my blood sticky and cause blood clots in the placenta stopping the babys growth. I pray every day that this works and im quite nervous but trying to be positive.

im so sorry to hear that, how are you coping? Like you, i started clexane at 4 wks, i am now nearly 22 weeks and have the very important scan on wednesday. I'm so scared they are going to tell me the baby has IUGR again . You have to stay positive, hard i know. Let me know how you get on

Good luck for your scan steph, im sure all will be just fine. Please let me know how you go, I'll send positive vibes all day wednesday to you. Have you had any scans during your pegnancy to ease your mind? Ive orginised an extra one at 17.5 weeks before the 20 week scan just to try and sleep better.
Ive read so many good stories of the same thing happening to other pregnant girls and then taking clexane and having healthy baby so keep that in mind. Im thinking of you and know how you feel.

Hiya, thank you for the vibes! We last had a scan at 12 weeks and things were fine then. I also have to have my bp checked every week and the doctor measured my tummy and had a feel and said that it feels like a 20 week baby in there and that was at 19 weeks. Apparantly that is a good indicator of growth.

That sounds fantastic! Im sure tomorrow's scan will confirm all that the doctos said. And then you will be able to enjoy the beautiful images of your bub. Still sending the good vibes to you

I just saw this thread. I'm sorry to hear of your losses! I took clexane (along with other things) in my last pregnancy after my losses and my son was born happy and healthy (and late!) at 7lbs7oz.

Clexane is a real drag. But it works little miracles.

Steph and Mina: I just noticed that your posts say 2008! So it means that you are currently pregnant or recently had your bundles of joy. I am sorry for the pain you have experienced before but I hope everything has turned out great with your recent pregnancies. Best wishes.

Just wanted to say hello to all of you - I don't know if I ever saw this thread.

I am also on clexane and aspirin for this pregnancy after 5 miscarriages. I was found to have lupus anticoagulant and prothrombin gene mutation. Sticky blood!

I started clexane at 6 weeks (was a patient at the Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic at Royal Women's in Melbourne) and so far everything is great with me and bubs. We have our 19 week scan on Feb 10th.

I was using Lovenox (generic clexane) at first and actually found those syringes easier to use. I am now on clexane proper and I have a hard time pressing down the plunger with one hand, so I have had more bruising and stinging, but I think I have found a way around that. I have iced from the beginning and think it's a HUGE help.

Anyhow, I wish you all the best and hope we have healthy babies in our arms before too long. It's a somewhat difficult road for us, but I think it will be worth it in the end!

Hi - I am so glad I have found this thread.

I have suffered two M/C 's within the last 18 months and am currently TTC. After my 2nd M/C it was discovered that I had APS, yes sticky blood and I currently take 100mg Aspirin every day. I will start the Clexane once I have a BFP!...

I am very anxious about this and anxious about stopping it in the third tri too!.. I have been feeling so alone in this journey as none of my friends or anyone I know for that matter has this problem!!

Oh, and I love hearing the success baby stories with APS too!! Gives me hope!

    I will be stalking!!

    hi kellie

Im so sorry for your losses, but hopefully with the aspirin and clexane you will be fine! Unlike you, i haven't been tested for sticky blood, they just found tiny clood clots in my placenta. I am nearly 25 weeks gone and everything is fine, im stopping clexane in two days time and am a bit wary about this too. My OB said that the aspirin is the main medication and clexane is like a secondary precaution. Without them both i wouldn't have been able to carry my little girl this far. Did you get high blood pressure with your two angels? I developed it so early, when i was 25wks, but my bp now is quite low. Good luck, i know how it feels feeling alone, i don't think even my partner quite understands how devestated i still feel even though he feels the same. Let me know how you get on xx

Yes, I guess I am getting close to the halfway mark. Wow!

You must be excited to be stopping the injections soon. I have to ask my OB at my next appt when I'll be stopping. I don't think it'll be that early...

What have you been told about taking it after delivery? I was told 10 days, but I have read many more women took it for 6 weeks... Hmmmm....

Thanks for the reply Steph... your story is a real inspiration for me! I hope I get to at least 34 weeks one day! Please keep us updated on your following weeks to come..

Just a couple of questions that have been playing on my mind for those who have been through this:
When did you stop the aspirin?
When you come off the clexane, do you just wait until the bub comes naturally? or if you get to a certain point and haven't had the bub they induce you?
Do you go straight back onto celxane once you have the bub?

Hopefully this month will be our month and I will start stabbing myself soon! I never thought I would be excited about giving myself needles!! LOL

    Hi Girlies and Guys,

I have been reading through these threads as i have been advised to take clexane and aspirin at the first sign of pregnancy and since then i have been so cautious as to what i take checking labels and warning signs on med packaging etc.

it was september 2007 when me and paul started talking about a family and from then on we started trying.....after a little while we both started to feel we were infertile which is kind of ridiculous knowing that people spend years practising this sexual encounter for a mini them.

Then beginning of feb 08 came along and i had missed a period but pregnancy test came back negative, then the next and the next so eventually i took it upon myself to blag a whole load of rubbish to the nurses at the hospital how i didnt have a doctors due to a house move etc. etc. can they test my blood by this time i was 28days late, but as procedure as lucky as i was to get them to do this i had the test waiting and waiting the nurses had a look, seconded it and even shon it in the light (it wasnt very noticeable but was there) and this is when my ordeal began..........

3days later and i had a complete miscarriage. wait one period and then try again, this time i tried another home kit as didn't have faith in the old Clearblue. Digital Boots own will do two days before my period was due and the pregnant happy vibes went off again this tim i had reached my midwife appointment the week before my first twelve week scan i was in again.

To cut a long and painful story short i knew there was something wrong and i have gone through the mtions of blaming myself trying every recommendation throughout pregnancy before buying all the pregnancy mags getting an idea of how to take care of myself before, during and after. But the second time they ran some tests and it was found my antibodies were attacking the pregnancy and to take aspirin.

So on the third and fourth pregnancy as soon as i found out which was really early because i wanted to know as soon as possible because of complications i thought we weren't catching it early enough. I started the aspirin but seemes to miscarriage before my 6th wk these times which made me anxious about taking pregnacare with aspirin.

My consultant scanned me through my cycle after my first period after the fourth miscarriage and we seen that all my pregnancies had been on my right ovary,(as they alternate) and maybe we should try the left so i had to wait for my next period n then my next one fall pregnant we also found the perfect day for me to concieve as the size of my egg, follicles and womb lining were perfect which was day 12 of my cycle.

Now after a long and stressful 2008 my worst year ever and i actually cried new years eve lol!!!!

i am due my period on 30th Jan, and have taken six pregnancy tests three different makes, and their is a positive line on all of them quite faint but they are there. This will be my first pregnancy with clexane and aspirin so i am nervous as hell and quite anxious as to what is actually going to happen with me.

I have phoned the clinic and i have to go down this morning to be shown how to do this to myself and to also confirm and book in for scans as i will be under my consultants care until i have a successful pregnancy. BUT one thing i am quite anxious about now is could it have been the early internal scans adding to this horror???? and am quite reluctant to have them weekly again due to the past two pregnancies.

I am so so sorry this has dragged on but it has done me the world of good to get it out there and to see people understand and feel how i have felt so thankyou for giving me that pleasure,

hope to hear from you all soon.

    Much love Sherrie, Paul and Lexy (lexy is our new puppy) x x x x x x x x x
