Happy to say the sinus has subsided, but I still have a nasty cough as a hangover from the heavy cold. I saw my ob yesterday. The baby is doing well - HB 145 bpm, good visible level of amniotic fluid and excellent cord flow. I have gained good weight and have nice BP.
But.... it would seem that bubs is low - very low. I have been told the baby will almost certainly come early and to pack my bags "NOW". Was not told when I might go into labour, though I have a growth-scan in two weeks time.
Panic-stations for DH and I. We had not dared get too ahead of ourselves with this PG - with our MC history it felt like we were tempting fate. So we are a bit unorganised (though of course there is less to do this time around than when I was PG with DD).
So I am now facing the knowledge I will now almost certainly be having an emergency CS, rather than making it to the elective CS. A friend of mine just had her first elective CS after two prior emergency CS. She said she couldn't believe how much better the recovery was. The other hard part is the idea that baby is quite possibly starting out with NICU. I'm just I get to 34 weeks so I can have the baby where I live.
The other thing is I just can't stop coughing. I really want this cough to go as it would not help my stitches, etc after a CS. Being so low, it may also break my waters or bring on contractions. Had super-strong BH yesterday, but not so bad today.
Sorry to ramble - just trying to wrap my head around this bombshell. Could be worse, like I said, bubs and I are doing fine. I just thought I had a bit more time up my sleeve.
Where's the hope -Hi my friend ... I was lurking hun and read your post. I was suffering last week with a cough and infection that would clear a room, and was really worried it was going to affect this cycle, I know hun, it's completly different to your situation, however I went to accupuncture, I layed on my tummy, hard for you to do,so you may need to sit up or something, I had needles put in the back of my neck, was rubbed with a gorgeous concoction of smelling things, and had some cupping to move the cough from my lungs, and did it work, TCM therapist said I would feel better that night, I did. Over the last 3 days I am left with a small amount of residual coughing, not the chest rattling cough I had earlier. HTH xx
WLAB - ain't you the sweetest I think Meredith (?) also recommended accupuncture for my cold. Might see if I can get in. Wishing you all the best with this cycle
WTH - Things just are not meant to be simple for some of us eh?! Good news that everything well with you and bubs but I can understand the panic at thinking you could have a premmie baby. I am still not really prepared for that even though we have been "warned" for months. Just wondering though, why does just have a "low" baby mean you could go any second? My DS was really low and I had him at 39weeks. This baby also low but have never been told that this fact alone could mean an early labour. Its been all about my other issues. I'm not trying to second guess your OB, just thought some babies were positioned naturally very low without it actually "meaning" anything.
Anyway, am praying your little one hangs in there for several weeks yet.... need some more cooking little one!
It was me who mentioned acupuncture - I hope you can get in soon and get some help for that cough
Emmy - I am so sorry to hear your news. Its just not fair to go through m/c again. My heart breaks for you and I hope you are getting the support you need
zstar - yay at good BT result and hope that discharge stays away. I have bled heavily in every one of my pgs, successful or not so it often doesn't mean anything really
megsmum - WOW what a quick arrival for little Emma... lucky you made it to the hospy! I am so happy for you and your family and hope you are enjoying every moment
Josh'smum - hope that m/s eases off in the coming weeks
Easha - hope you are resting up and keeping that BP down
Chappas - hope your baby turns soon. YOu wouldn't consider a vaginal delivery even if still breech? I had to change OBs but my DS came out bottom first the "natural" route with no probs at all.
greenslw - so glad things going well for you atm and you can enjoy the double joy of engagement and pg. A very special time for you and DF!
AFM - having growth scan/checking fluid levels tomorrow so hoping all at least ok to hold us out for a few more weeks yet. I really don't think baby is small given how much I have popped out so not overly worried at this stage. Like WTH, i am totally not prepared if she did decided to come early. I know I have had plenty of warning but haven't even thought about packing bags etc
Meredith - Thanks for the reassurance. My Ob said it all depends on what my cervix is doing, and he couldn't manage to see that on his monitor this time. As you know, I had cervical monitoring (due to previous 3rd & 4th degree tearing and multiple D&C's) until 24 weeks and all was ok then. He actually also commented on bubs being low at my last visit two weeks back, but he did not seem as concerned then. He told me when it is this low that (in his experience) babies come early, though there can be exceptions to the rule. Maybe I am just worrying about nothing . BTW GL with the scan
Feeling flat today. I have a employee who is going threw a personal crisis and wont tell me anything I know only 3rd hand. and she's not doing her job, so now I'm forced to confront her. I don't want to be a serious boss. It's not me!
Been feeling the baby heaps but can't sleep, uncomfortable to the max. I guess it doesn't get any better either
So my scan monday was going to be solo but I LOVE MY MUM she's comming cos DF is working. Would prefer DF but mum is a close second. much happier than before when I thought I was going Solo. 20wk scan is a little nerve racking.
Ok I'm a little ditzy today hope all the mum to be's are doing great.
wth - i hope your cough goes away and bub keeps cooking. sounds like accupunture could be the way to go!
greenslw - glad your mum can make the big 20 wk scan. boo hoo about your boss duties. i am no good at the yuck boss jobs either. hate it. good luck!
meredithD - good luck with your scan too!
human bean - glad your ob appt went well. i'm looking forward to 13 weeks - past the 12 week mark and nucal scan will be done too. bring it on.
josh's mum, sunny & lauren - hope all is going well for you.
big hi to everyone else.
afm - feeling good. m/s has eased off a bit. soooo happy. starting to feel normal again apart from the headaches and little bouts of sickness. trying not to wish the pg away but can't wait for 3 more weeks to pass. i think dh is more on edge than me with the whole thing.
WTH - hang in there sweetie - understand the worry though. Hoping baby hangs on till 34 weeks. Hope the nasty cough disappears very soon
Zstar - glad things are going okay. Hope the next three weeks just speeds by for u.
Meredith - how did your scan go today? Praying all is looking good - you have had such a difficult time, my wish for you is very smooth sailing from here on
Greenslw: good luck for scan on Monday and glad you have someone to go with you - good on mums! I know I was so nervous on the day so it is good to have some support.
to chappas, erybery, Megsmum (and emma of course), human bean, easha, chappas, Hannah D, and all the others I have missed (serious case of baby brain at the moment)
to Emmy and Sammy - look after yourselves.
AFM: Got the keys today to my old house (which we are officially moving into in a couple of weeks) while we renovate my hubbies house. This means a busy few weeks of moving, sorting and best of all setting up nursery. Work girls put on a lovely baby shower for me the other day and got some very gorgeous clothes/toys etc - this bubba is going to be very spoiled and very well dressed. Had a scan last week and placenta in good spot (although anterior), fluid levels good and baby growing nicely. they still are pretty sure it is a little girl (hope so as have been getting lots of pink gifts for her!) Feeling pretty good, besides still being overly anxious (and then getting annoyed at myself!), have been getting sore back (in middle/upper back rather than low which is interesting), have put on a little too much weight (too many naughty treats and craving sweet things!) - but besides that all good and counting down the days. Cannot wait for bubs to be born nice and healthy - hopefully then the anxiety will lessen a bit and can enjoy being a mum.
Going to attempt to write a post before the computer stuffs up - posted 3 times last night (attempted) and gave up.
To keep it short - good luck for those with upcoming scans - hope all goes well
WTH - hang in there only a few weeks to go before all is good. After everything you have been through you deserve an uneventful birth and a very healthy bub.
Meredith - hope all is well for you
Chappas - only a few weeks left for us - yayayayayay
AFM - work finished and spending time preparing the bub room and trying to rest. BP is holding steady and bub not yet engaged which is good cause still so much to do. Currently repainting a cot and have done 1000 loads of washing of all the bubs clothes.
Hey all, sorry haven't posted lately, just gtting sooo exhausted, hopefully finishing up work in 2-3 weeks!
Easha - I hear ya on washing bub's clothes! I love hanging them up, they are just so cute!
babymiracles - enjoy setting up the nursery, I just loved doing our bubs room. I know what ou mean about the anxiety and just wanting to enjoy being a mum. I thought I would be feeling less anxious at the moment since everything is looking good and all th probs in the past seem to be behind us but its been creeping up on me again! big hugs hun!
Zstar- glad to hear your feeling better! I love seeing your ticker moving along!
Greenslw - so glad you are feeling bubs move! I didnt feel mine till 22-23 weeks! and she still doesnt do really strong kicks even now!
WTH - does your bub feel low to you? I feel like mine had dropped in the last week and am going to ask my ob next week bout it.
Meredith - hope the growth/fluid scan went well! You are such a courageous woman and everytime I see you post I just think how brave you are!
AFM - bubs is feeling like she is in my pelvis now as that is where I am feeling the hiccups! really weird sensation. Hve been having cramping on lower right side of tummy and back, went to hosp last night and it did show I was having contractions but not regular. They told me to come back if it got any worse or became more regular! Its all happening girls, the count down is really on. Im extremely stressed one moment, then really excited. I just cant wait for bub to come to see that she is all right and nothing wrong with her after all the nuchal fluid scares early on! I bought my baby a set of pink overalls to wear home from the hosp, sooo cute!
Big hugs to EVERY incredibly brave and MEANT TO BE mummies! xox
Erybry; I do feel so blessed feeling baby atm. You're feeling hiccups! so amazing.Hope you're able to relax and get some stress relief.
Esha enjoy no work
Babymiracles yaya for new house keys. Glad work spoilt you and bubs to be. Such a wonderful time.
zstar it can be hard for DH's I think cos it's not happening to them, I'm sure they're glad of that come labor!
ATM it's 20C outside and I popped in to see my mum but she's out so I'm steeling her PC for a bit. I can smell all the wonderful spring flowers and It's making me feel so good.
DF felt bubs last night, it gave one all mighty kick when he had his hand on my belly so cool. Got weighed today and da da daaaaaa only another 400g. so that's a total of only 1KG now, I'm so proud.
Just dropping by to say hi to everyone and to finally attempt some persies!
Greenslw - GL for your scan on Mon, that is great that your Mum is going with you, Icould never go to a scan by myself. And yay for DF feeling bub kick, it is cool isn't it? Wow you have only put on 1kg have you? Cripes I'm still about 8 kg more than I want to be and I have had the baby LOL
erybery - Don't worry you will know when they are real contractions LOL No mistaking those! But I hope bub stays put for a bit for you - although I do understand the feeling of just wanting them to arrive so you know everything is OK too. Hang in there!
babymiracles - I'm so glad everything i s going well for you fishy friend! That scan sounds great, can't ask for much more can you? Take it easy with the house move - you'll be a mum now before you know it
Easha - Yay for finishing work! Have fun getting ready for bub, not long now!
Meredith - Thanks so much hun. I hope your scan went well, you have done so well to make it this far! At least bub will be safe now whenever she decides to arrive now. And I'm so glad to hear you have done the wig thing
WTH - Will be in touch again soon Hope that pesky cough has improved for you!
chappas - Glad to hear everything is going well
human bean - That is great that your ob appt went well GL with getting to 12 weeks, I know I felt better once I reached it - not totally relaxed, but better than before KWIM?
zstar - Glad to hear the m/s has improved, it is awful isn't it? Hope the spotting has eased up for you too
Hi everyone else - pash, HannahD, joshsmum, cantwaittobeamum, mollycat, mummytogirls and anyone else I might have missed. Hope you and your bubs are all well!
AFM, thanks so much everyone for your congratulations, Emma is going great. We had our first weigh since we left hospy today and she has put on 370g in just under 2 weeks little piggy she is LOL At least all the night feeds she is having are making a difference! She is still a little night owl and has about 4 feeds a night, but at least she resettles afterwards and I can get back to sleep. And she sleeps during the day so I can have a nap then too. I'm feeling pretty good too, apart from a bit tired. Have recovered well from the birth and the damage to my bbs has improved now that we are home and Emma is feeding well, so nothing really to complain about. Emma is worth it all anyway. And our cloth nappies are going well too Easha
Can't wait to see more bubs arriving in this thread really soon, it's very exciting
WTH - hope you are feeling better and cough has eased. Here's hoping your baby's low position is only that and he/she hangs in awhile longer
Greenslw - yay for mums. Would be awful to go to scan alone. Even when everything is perfectly well, its nice to have someone to share the joy
zstar - glad you are feeling better. Hope you can enjoy the pg soon
\
babymiracles - Ooooh getting so close now. Its a very exciting time. Enjoy every moment!
Easha - Glad to see you at the nesting stage. Its really lovely organising baby things
erybery - Hope your bubs hangs in longer too! A few more weeks cooking would be ideal
Megsmum - so nice to see you back and womderful that Emma doing so well. You sound so happy... very well deserved!
AFM - scan went ok. "Upsy" is generally well but definitely on the small side. Overall measuring around 20th percentile but slight worry is that her abdominal circumference is 4 weeks behind - not even within percentiles - so seems very skinny. Could just be her or could be an early sign of the placenta packing up. Fluid levels are low but still within the "normal" realm. She is also very "low" although sonologist didn't think anything of this ( might interest you WTH!).Haven't spoken to my OBsince the scan but he left a msg wanting to see me again next week and discuss plan then. I know prior to scan he had said if bubs was tiny ( ie around 10th percentile) he would reccomend pulling her out early. Not really sure what he will say now but thinking/hoping may just mean some close monitoring at least for now.
I am not panicked given she seems otherwise ok but like WTH, having a bit of a freak out that i am not really prepared for a baby to be here so soon. Seems silly since we have been told for many mths to expect a possible premmie baby and have even had the steroids shots forher lungs..... just hadn't really sunk in!
Greenslw - Glad everything is going well. looking forward to news from your scan, good that you have your Mum going with you.
WTH - Glad your sinus problem has eased, hope you get rid of that nasty cold soon. Hope your little one hangs on in there for a few weeks yet.
Meredith - Glad your scan went ok and fluid levels are normal. Hope that next week goes well and they will monitor you. Consultant told me if bubs was breech i would have to have c/s because i had such a bad time when i had my emergency section with DD and he doesnt want to risk rupture.
Zstar - Glad m/s has eased
Babymiracles - Glad your scan went well and everything looks good, hope you gonna take it easy when moving.
Easha - Yay for finishing work, heres hoping our last few weeks go quickly.
Erybery - Glad things are moving along nicely for you.
Megsmum - Great to hear things are going well with little Emma and you are enjoying your time.
AFM - Had physio on Wednesday and they gave me a girdle (really attractive) if this does not help i have to go on crutches next week. Having my scan nxt Wed to see if bubs has turned, if not he may be arriving next week which is quite scary.
Erbery - yes the count down is on now...scary but exciting at the same time. Can believe I literally have less than 3 weeks left. Pink overalls sound gorgeous.
Greenslaw - yay for kicks, mine just feels like somersalts (spl??) are occurring now. complete tummy shifts which is very cool - although strangely enough my belly button is now sitting to the right and is no longer centered - anyone experience this??
Megsmum - Emma sounds perfect, yay for cloth nappies, mine are washed and ready to go although they still look quite big even on the smallest setting - ending up getting Baby beehinds.
Meredith - best of luck for your appt. Hopefully ob leaves bub in for now - is that not the best place for growth ???
Chappas - sorry to here your having alot of pain - hopefully the girdle works.
AFM - going to pack the hospital bag today and am painting the cot. My 6 year wedding anniversary is today to so will be nice pottering around the house with DH.
Chappas - I don't have a girdle, just a brace. Can be a bit hot and uncomfy at times - is it the same for you? If your bubba comes next week you will have technically reached "term" (37 weeks), so your baby will be perfect when it comes. Hope you don't need crutches
Meredith - yes, it is surprising how sonographer's opinions can differ to our ob's (and our Googling). I hope your baby continues to grow and can stay put a little longer I am slightly less panicky now - have packed some basics for hospital and a case for DD for when she stays at my parent's. DH and I finally had the name conversation last night. I had been dreading it as it was so hard agreeing on a name before DD. It actually went rather well
Megsmum - don't worry about emails - you are VERY busy! But am happy to read everything is going swimmingly for you and your little piglet LOL x
Greenslw - so glad to read how well everything is also going for you - you sound so happy
Erybery - bub definitely feels (and looks) low to me. I am going to the toilet at least five times a night! I don't know whether the baby has "dropped" or done something extra... Meanwhile - HOORAY - your countdown is on! Wishing you all the best, you deserve it. And the overalls sound very cute!
Easha - glad to read you have finished work and our now feathering your nest. Fun, isn't it!? HAPPY ANNIVERSARY X
Babymiracles - Thanx for your well-wishes. I hope all is going well with your renovating. I know what you mean about over-indulging. I have discovered White Kit Kats - the FAMILY-sized bar is not lasting two days at a time LOL
Zstar - glad the MS has eased. Not long to go until your scan - every day is a victory x
AFM - This wretched cough has continued to wreak havoc with me. It became so unbearably painful in my chest on Friday that I got squeezed into my GP as I was worried it was becoming a chest infection. He gave me a codeine drink to take for three nights (before it becomes addictive for me and bubs), but it hasn't really eased anything. Now the pain has moved to my back! So I probably have to head back in again early this week On a positive note, I have been getting a lot more organised in case bubs comes early. Have been washing baby clothes, built the cot and DH is installing the capsule right now. Starting to get a bit excited...
megsmum I'm not a light person pre baby so 1kg is fine. I will need to seriously look at my body when baby is out. Heaviest I've been in 4 years. Glad Emma is growing well such a proud event for you and the family.
Meredith hope OB has some anwers for you.
Chappas what ever helps I think. Goodluck for scan.
Easha how cool is your belly, can't wait for that. Wow bags are packed how exciting.
WTH i'm so ssorry your cough is still with you bugga. Glad you have the energy to organise not sure I would.
ATM DF is waiting to go shopping back for a me post later.
