Angelfish boo to having MIL stuck and your DH kids coming. Sounds like a nightmare. I had a similar problem with my MIL when DD was born. She came to help but all it meant was not been able to relax. MIL did try she cooked and cleaned which she did an awesome job but I didn't have anytime with DH and DD and even 3days in hospital MIL was with DH and DD so there was no us time. We couldn't even discuss names between each other without MIL trying to name bub. I hope you have some much needed time to yourselves soon. I've given DH the lecture this time but problem is MIL is coming again. Atleast this way I hopefully can BF and shower in the delivery room without hiding naked under a blood stained sheet (DH let both his parents in within minutes of DD been born then they didn't leave) Arrr family. Don't you love them!
Ferrals hoping to hear great news that your placenta has hiked up the hill. I'll be so excited for you if it has. Also hope your DS gets good results.

Reet - :o What an awful thing to hear.. I hope it was just a rumour. You know what people can be like during the drama of an approaching cyclone. I'm so glad you guys evacuated and I know you'll be okay. I'll be thinking of you, stay safe hun! :hug:
Angelfish - Don't be afraid to ask for what you need. Tell everyone you need some time just as the three of you to bond. If you can't get out of having DP's kids there, at least make it clear to him that he will need to keep them occupied and out of your hair while you tend to the baby etc. It's not ideal, but it's better than feeling overwhelmed trying to 'do it all'. If you feel at any time you aren't coping, speak up. Scream and yell if you have to, just don't suffer quietly. :hug:

To hot for lots of persies just wanted to say OMG! reet i got goose bumps when i read your post i hope the school is safe i will have your family in my thoughts and prayers.
AFM-Well unfortunately the placenta has not budged one bit it is still a grade 4 placenta previa and no way can i have a natrual birth it completely covers the cervix.
I have to see the OB friday to discuss a date for c section but it will be before the 16th of march the OB wasnt to sure to let me get to 38 weeks he was looking at 37 weeks which will be about the 10th of march:o that is 5 weeks away.
Also we paid $225 for a 3D-4D scan to get some good pictures only for little miss to hide her face the whole time.
She wriggled and moved and kicked but had her face buried in the placenta with her hand over it so we did not get one picture i was so disapointed.
Oh! and she weighs 4 pounds her little head and belly are measuring 2 weeks behind but her other measurements are spot on 32 weeks so she is going to be a danty little girl by the looks of it.

Just waiting for the wind to come.. its still quite calm here, its not directly hitting us here in cairns anymore, its a little more south, its so big tho that i think we are still gonna cop it. Just waiting at home til it all starts and then we will be leaving.
Baby has been super active today.. im loving it! I can always feel the little head or bottom (not sure which one!) poking out, so beautiful :)
Oh and i just re-read my post from earlier.. its only 20,000 body bags they sent, not 200,000! Big difference! But yeah still scary. I hope none of them get used.

Angel - ah Sweetie - when they are first at home, from my own experience, there's not a lot feeling happy - it's more just a lot of hard work, exhaustion, confusion, tears and lots of self doubt. A lot of women don't feel "happy" for a while... so go gently on yourself. You are getting to know Honor and she's learning to live in the world. It's all pretty hard stuff so honestly go easy on yourself. Wish that you could get a break from the step kids though..... if you can't avoid them coming, then when they are there - just focus on what you and Honor need and not anyone else. I know it's hard but be strong. You will get there, and you are doing a great job. Your little girl loves you and you love her, just you're so tired to really enjoy it at the mo. But if you just can't stop crying or feeling really down, then see if you can go to the Dr and also find someone to talk to. It's ahrd to know the difference between baby blues and depression when you're in the middle of it, but PND goes on for much longer. Oh hope you're ok in that crazy weather that the USA is having.... so much snow. What a nightmare to be stuck in a blizzard with your MIL. Yikes.... arsenic anyone?

Angelfish: Those first few weeks are hard, especially if there's other stress going on. Dory has said everything much better than i could so i'll just say I agree: Opt out when you can and leave BF and MIL to tend to his kids and you look after Honour. And please talk to someone if it all gets too much.
Ferrals: Bummer about placenta not moving. I hope the advance warning you got about it helped you to not be too disappointed. Gosh it's getting so close to your girl's arrival!

AFM: Had OB appointment today. He got called out to a delivery so midwife saw me. She's not as handy with the ultrasound machine so couldn't measure baby for size or tell me a specific heart rate but I got to look at the baby and we could see the heartbeat flickering and baby was moving-looked like a few little waves. Very cute. But OMG Olive has grown so much since last week and looked a real chubba bubba! And in the absence of anything else to worry about i started to worry: Why is Olive so fat!!! I'm not worried about my future baby's weight but more i started to think: Should s/he look this chubby? Is this the right shape for a 10.5wk baby to be? What if there's something wrong? I know (*groan*). I'm nuts! I'm giving myself a stern talking to: s/he's alive and kicking and has grown lots and that's all you need to know for this week. :rolleyes:

p.s stop being silly!!! baby is fine!! and chubby babies are the cutest!!

thank you everyone !!!! i was so low this am and i had to go out to see my dr and left the baby with bf mom and when i came back all she wanted was me she cuddle right into my neck and did not want me to put her down made me so happy.
I hope everyone else is well i know that i had my baby and probley belong somewhere else but all of you had been so helpful during my journey and i dont know were i would have been with out you all :)

Dory - Lol... I had to keep splashing water up over my belly because it was drying and getting too warm.
Possum - It was 36 degrees yesterday when I got in the car to leave the hospital, INTENSE! (our car tells you the outside temp, love it!) After driving for a few minutes it was down to 33... but still.... ughhh. I swear it was at least 35 inside the house yesterday. Thank god we're getting air-con installed Monday. And I'm planning to hide out at my sister's place in her air conditioned house all day today... lol. Congrats on another great scan. Chubby is good IMO. At my 12 and 20 week scans I was amazed how round and chunky bubby's belly had gotten. Extra chub means extra insulation and stored energy for after birth. So thumbs up for chubba wubba! And as Alish said, The chubby ones really are the cutest :)

Angelfish - We love having you here. I'm soo glad to hear your little one was able to bring a smile to your face after your trip to the Drs. It won't be long before you can't wipe the smile off your face. I would say more but I think Dory already said it all so well. :)
Tegam - No... and I'm getting a bit worried. :( I'm hoping it's just a technical problem like no internet service or something......... don't even want to consider the alternatives. I'll have a stalk later on and see if there's been any activity. How's Miss Molly doing??
AFM - Saw the dietician yesterday (FINALLY) and got my little finger ***** needle thing and the little monitor to read my blood. I was feeling really icky about the whole situation and a bit down, but after going to the information session I feel a lot better, and a little silly for worrying so much. The needle doesn't hurt, and all I have to do is eat like I used to when I was health conscious, LOL. Not so hard at all! I don't have to avoid EVERYTHING I love, I just can only have a nibble. Anyway, speaking of nibbling I'd better get some breakfast into me as bubby is kicking my ribs ferociously........ I'm assuming someone is hungry!
Oh one more thing, I handed out my baby shower invites (the date is the 20th of feb, 1 week after my birthday) and it's been almost a week with NOT ONE rsvp. I'm trying not to feel gutted, but I really do. I wondered why I felt such dread about deciding whether to have a party etc and why I hesitated to hand out the invites........ I should have known this would happen. :( My SIL made an excuse about being too busy, and my sister just said 'oh. can you drive me home so I can get drunk?' :( I would rather NOT play taxi on my special day. That is if it even happens now. My birthday is in 9 days and I feel pretty crummy about this, but dangit I'm not going to let it ruin it for me. If nobody responds, I will send a memo saying 'CANCELLED DUE TO OVERWHELMING LACK OF INTEREST. THANK YOU.'

Possums-now stop that bubs at 10 weeks are not chubby they dont have any fat until later in the pregnancy Abbi was born at 19 weeks 5 days and was skin and bones with a little pot belly like a little skined rabbit.
Your baby is perfect size and moving and wriggling around exactly what it is supose to be doing so please try and relax and believe this bub will be perfect.
Anglefish- that is what its all about give it time this ia all new for you and a big change just try to relax and enjoy your little girl.
AFM-saw the OB this morning and i am booked in for a c section on the 16th of march he said i still have total placenta previa grade 4 and it is a high risk op so i had to sign consent forms for blood TF and a hysterectomy if needed it was very scarey i am also having a specialist perform the operation not a registrar THANK GOD! and i am on 2 weekly u/s from now on to check it for signs of placenta failure as he said placenta's down low tend to not do so good at the end of pregnancies is that correct mildez?
Anyway we have 40 days left until we meet our girl.
oh 40 days ferrals! Thats amazing but at 32 weeks its nice toknow that you are bringing a baby home even if it the placenta stuffs itself.... Hysterectomy, blood tf....bit scary but you have been thru worse odds!

i came home from work today, super dizzy & almost throwing up, i just got home before i spewed up water... for me this is really sick, usually im just queasy! boo! its nice to have a day at home relaxing though..

Friends-- I haven't been able to read the messages...I am home from the hospital, but baby Obed was taken by Cesearean about 6 days ago (1-29-2011) because of decreased fetal movement. He is in a neo-natal unit and he is stable but he has problems, particularly with a strange breathing pattern, though he breathes on his own (no ventilator). His MRI showed an abnormality...we are overwhelmed. He is a beautiful little boy and there are no chromosomal problems (thankfully), but my instincts about low movement were correct and thankfully we moved quickly, but something happened in the past week prior to the decreased movement which caused a problem in the brain...we are praying and waiting...and I am so overwhelmed.
I don't want to scare anyone on this site and I don't want to bring sad news, but I wanted you to know what happened.
My c-section is healing, though my incision and muscles hurt when I don't have pain med-- so I take the pain med regularly.
But most of all, my heart just hurts and this little baby, for whatever time we are given, is still my longed for son, and we pray he will survive and improve.

I am up in the middle of the night after pumping milk and cried when I wrote my post to you all. You all have been so supportive. I went back and read the messages and "listened" to your prayers and concern. Thank you.
Obed Warren Groggett was born on 1-29-2011 at 4 pounds, 9 ounces which is a good size for being 32 weeks and 5 days or so. He is blond! and he looks like a lanky surfer-dude (LOL) with an adorable receded chin (I don't have a receded chin so this is cute) and he sounds like a little baby bird when he cries.
He can grasp our fingers and the nurses let me have "kangeroo time" with him, when they take him out of the incubator and put him on my bare chest. He is not sucking or swallowing yet (?) but he moves around and he is calmed when he is doing "kangeroo time". My husband got to hold him for the first time last night for Kangeroo time.
My mom is here and she is off work from her job until further notice-- for the long haul-- whatever that means. She lives in Maryland, but traveled to Massachusetts to help me.
The church where I pastor has been great-- they collected money for breast feeding stuff and one woman made me a quilted cover with Obed's name and birth for the incubator (a cover). They will let us use it when his treatment for jaundice is completed.
All the docs say that I did the right thing and that this is also a bit of a mystery, 'cause I had such a normal and healthy pregnancy, plus I have been very diligent about following restrictions (even self-imposed ones...).
I am trying to be thankful for the little things right now-- when Obed holds my finger or when he breathes calmly, or when the tests are within normal range. I have no doubt that he would have been a possible stillbirth had I not gone to the hospital when I did and I work hard not to blame myself.
But I still cry each day.
Oh-- I forgot to mention-- that my mom intends to celebrate Obed's ("Obie's") first birthday week on Saturday...seriously. She has been really supportive.
I am sorry for the selfish posts and really hope and pray that all is well with everyone on this site. I have missed talking with you all...but I don't know from one day to the next what is going to happen.
Being home is a comfort, though, of course, we travel to the hospital every day to see my little precious baby boy.
Stars and Sunshine CONGRATULATIONS on the birth of your beautiful little Obed Warren. Woow what a good size he is for his gestation. I'm so pleased to hear of your wonderful support network with your mum, DH and church. Sounds like a gorgeous little quilt sounds perfect. I too am so so sorry to hear that Obed's birth hasn't gone as planned and of his struggles now. Do they think its normal premature behaviour or something else as well? Sounds like they have ruled out many things and I'm praying Obed's breathing etc is related to him coming early and he grows out of it quickly as he matures. Don't feel you could have done anything different to what you have done. You knew something wasn't right by Obed's lack of movements and did something about it. You had monitoring and a scan which didn't show anything so I don't think you could have done anything different. You should be proud of yourself for been so in tune with your body and knowing something wasn't right which I am sure this is what has led to little Obed to be born alive. I too am sure your right. If he wasn't born he wouldn't have made it. I really admire your strength and courage at this difficult time. Thinking and praying for you and your family and sending Obed grow strong vibes.

Forshelby- My baby shower with DS sucked. I got given bottles and disposable diapers and was laughed at and bets were taken for as to how long I would breastfeed and use cloth nappies... The bets not being for longer than 2weeks. I fed till he weaned at 10.5months and used cloth until he was toilet trained. After that, I don't think I'll be having a shower this time around.
alish- welcome to the club lol. Today has been bad for me as well hun, some days are just worse than others.
AFM- Feeling like crap today also I mixed up the date for my scan :( I thought it was this Monday but instead it's on Valentines Day O.O great.... if I had a partner to go with *sigh*

S&S - I had been following your story from the beginning with interest as I too had my first baby at 41. Congratulations on the birth of Obed Warren. What a beautiful name you have chosen. I have not heard that before, does it mean something in particular? You have been an incredible mother to your little boy. Your intuition has allowed him to be with you and your husband because I do fear what would have happened if he had gone on longer in this condition. Your posts are not at all selfish. Everyone here is just so relieved to finally hear from you, and though your little boy is not without problems, his birth is still a joyous occasion. I'm with your Mom, celebrate all the little milestones until he gets the chance to catch up and then come home to be with his family.

Mildez-can you tell me all the info you know on having a c section with a complete placenta previa why am i at higher risk of hemorrage and having a hysterectomy i was told the bottom of the uterus doesnt contract aswell as the top what is involved and how do they get the placenta out also how do the stomach muscles fair afterwards.
Also how long will i be closely watched for bleeding blood clots ect.
And anything else you can think of please.

Ferrals I replied to your questions on the above thread. I didn't go into much details on why you bleed much. Your right you bleed more usually due to the fact the lower segment of the uterus where your placenta is doesn't contract. If you imagine your uterus like a blown up balloon with bub in it and the cervix been the long flappy bit at the bottom (without the tie in it and with your placenta covering it). Between your endometrium/uterus lining and the placenta are large pools of maternal blood which is what the placenta dips into to get its supply of maternal blood needed for the placenta to exchange nutrients, oxygen,waste etc. So once the placenta seperates wether spontaneously or mannually from a c/s these pools are what are left causing the bleeding after birth. Normally the fundus the top of the uterus is what contracts and reduces the size of these pools as with contractions the uterus is getting smaller if that makes sense. During labour when the fundus contracts it pulls the cervix or lower segment up which in time shortens the flappy thing of the balloon and dilates. So you can imagine when thats where your pools of maternal blood are the fundus can't really aid those pools to reduce in size which is what reduces the bleeding (and whilst we usually bleed to a degree for up to 4-6weeks under normal conditions) In saying all this its still possible your blood loss will be normal and if not they will be expecting your risk to be much greater and impliment treatment to prevent it occuring before it happens or as soon as it does if it does. If the placenta is starting to deteriorate/get age about it which can be quite normal in all term pregnancies then the maternal blood supply will already be reduced and if bub is small then there is a good chance the placenta is also again reducing the amount of maternal pools. I think you will be in very safe hands. Let me know if I can help with anything else. I'll be wishing you a speedy recovery and am so excited your so close now. Is it only 39days now?

AFM~ I think I will spend the day in bed today, have a shocking headache and feeling sick as a dog today much the same as I did yesterday as well. But I won't complain only another 6 weeks and I am out of the first tri-mester, FX.
