oh clairesmummy, there are those that say the fewer the scans the better, then there are those that say if you need it do it!

I say do whatever you need to do.

Clairesmummy after my Ob saw the HB at 6wks I got my GP to order me a dating scan (which I had at 10wks) then a lady at work had a 30sec sneak speak at my bubbas HB at 11weeks and I had another scan at 13weeks. Way to many I guess but for me I needed to know bub was alive. But now I'm further along I'm still freaking out about one thing or another. The worry now is just as bad as it was in the first trimester. It will be a relief when I can check this bub out in the flesh for myself.

I had a scan at 6,8,9,10 weeks and then will have one at 12 and 20 weeks. I was/still am a mess and don't know how I'm going to cope in between the 12 and 20 week ones.

Just do what you have to do. Maybe you could get the form and don't make a booking unless you're really worried at some point? Or just book one in if you know it'll make you feel better. Hugs.. I know how hard it is xxx

Clairesmummy- I wld say get the dating scan done! Whenever i go to my ob. he does a scan but its only a little u/s machine so i dont think its as accurate as the actual xray & u/s places. Its always a few days out from what i shld be too. Will ur ob. be angry if u do end up getting it done? Like u have ignored his advice??
But yeah i think u shld definitely do it, then u will have a definite due date!

    Thank you everyone,
Reet~ Not sure if my OB would get cranky with me, think he woud more than likely be pretty laid back about the situation.
On the scan my OB gave me yesterday we could definately see the sac and the pole which is where he said he is nearly certain he could see a flutter. So I guess if I'm not showing any sign of bleeding or bad cramping I just should sit back and enjoy the ride of pregnancy. lol... Even though I woke at 3am with the sudden urge to pee like I have been for the past 2 weeks then after I get back into bed I thought for sure I was actually going to vomit, man I felt crook. Have HB this afternoon big time and still very very sore nipples and tired.

the more scans the better i say!
    5, 9,11,12 and 19 here
The scan lady said the really early scans are not good for dating all we saw at 5 weeks (supposed to be 7) was a sac and ? fetal pole she wasnt sure
Much better once they can measure bubba itself
all those symptoms sounds great clairesmummy
I want to see our baby in the flesh too i still think something will go wrong and well lose him

I agree kell! The more the better! i had one at 6,8,10, 2 at 12 wks, 16, 20, 21 and 25... now thats crazy!! Most of those were at my ob. appointments so they werent 'real' ones but i dont think i wld have gotten thru without them!
I still keep thinking something is going to go wrong.. i think thats why im not in any hurry to start the nursery or buy anything baby yet.. i cant bare the thought of setting up the room and then something happening and having to face the room everyday. Its such an awful way to think! I better get over it soon cos im starting to feel really disorganised!

    Good Morning Everyone,

I've been following this thread for a few months and posted early on in my pregnancy, (and was given some wonderful reassurance, thanks Ferrals & Dory!) I too was/am very anxious as I have had two MC.

Bec - I'm so sorry to hear your news. I wish I had words to make things better.

Kel - I've had many early scans too this time around. that helped me.

to everyone else, I hope I can join you for the rest of my pregnancy.

    have a good sunday. x

Hey KMM - glad you dropped in.... look forward to hearing from you again soon... hope you and bubs are well.

Clairesmummy - first of all - do what you need to to get through the pregnancy...... I initially had scans every 2 weeks in the obs rooms, and then just usual scans - dating, nuchal and 20 and 32 for growth and development, but then just listened to the heartbeat every 2 weeks, or whenever I felt freaked out.... and second of all, it's not your Obs place to be angry or annoyed with you.... it's their job to offer you support with what is an exceptionally difficult journey.

Kel - I so know what you mean, and I think the third tri worries are worse than the first tri ones.... not until Hannah Bear was in my arms did I actually believe she would get here safe and sound... and even then in the early hours together, I did think that someone would work out they made a mistake and come and take her away

Mildez - I am liking the sneaky u/s at work.... why not if you can!

Well - yesterday I had my GTT and it's a lot easier to do when you're not pregnant that's for sure! It was also the first time I have been away from Hannah for more than 1 hour, and I wasn't too crazy with worry. In the end I was gone for about 2 1/2 hours. I also had some other BT's and had 10 vials of blood taken - boy was I bushed yesterday. HB and I both had a very long afternoon nap, which we both needed. MRI next week and then I will have some answers about my funny little warming/burning sensations having a little bogey all over. It's funny I thought that Hannah's arrival would bring an end to the poking and proding, but it hasn't. Oh well. Oh I overheard DH tell my cousin today - "so totally worth it"..... about our journey. Nice to hear. You'll all be there soon, and this fear and dread and worry will be a distant memory.... keep the faith and keep up your courage, you are braver and stronger than you know.

Tegam - love the pic of Molly and also your new sig..... you had a lot of scans huh?

Tegam-Seeing as though you are sticking around here to keep an eye on our progress and help us get through this ect and seeing as though i have your number to txt would you mind if i txt you when little miss is here with the time of birth and weight ect and you can let the girls here know otherwise if i have a ceasar it will be a few days before i can tell you all.
And i love Molly's pic she is adoreable.

Dory-I hope you get some answers to what has been going on with you.
And I agree with your DH it is totally worth it DH and i have been to hell and back and we took a big risk but so far this pregnancy has been soooooooooooooo worth it now just to bring her home safe.

Kmn-Good to see you pop back in how are you? what has been going on with you? and i hope you are doing well let us know how where you are up to in your pregnancy.

AFM-Just counting down the days until i finish work and 32 week u/s next week.

Bec- so sorry for your loss. Hugs and hope for a quick recovery.

Stoked- Good luck for your scan. You're almost there!

Clairesmummy- I am having a similar scan on Friday. I hope they see what they are looking for. Yours sounds good, and good symptoms too!

AFM- Got my BT results back. HCG went from 152 to 330 in 3 days, so it did double, but seems slow compared to others I've seen. I know everyone's different, so I'm trying not to worry about it. Going for another BT on Monday and an u/s on Friday. It's nice that my doctor is checking up on me so much.

A little nervous that I have no major symptoms yet. I know it's still early. I have some sensitivity to some smells, and I feel little twinges in my low belly not even like cramping, and that's it. Not that I really want to be vomiting, but I think I would actually feel better if I felt awful right now!

Kitfaerie: Congratulations! Welcome little Samuel and well done mum and DH! Hope you are enjoying your newborn cuddles!

Ck08: Not sure if i have yet said Woot! Woot! COnratulations on your BFP!

Becnxavi: I posted in your other thread but again wanted to say how sorry I am for the loss of your baby. So very unfair you have to go through this again.

T-Hopes: Hope you had a wonderful holiday. What a lovely thing to come back to. So glad you got good news. By the way i love the cute pic of baby in your ticker. When is that from?

Clairesmummy: I've been going to see my OB weekly since 6.5 wks and he scans me each time to check things are ok. It helps a lot. I feel lucky to have access to an OB with a good u/s machine. I'll only go for an official scan at 12.5 (if i make it that far).

Kmm: Congrats on your pg. How far along are you?
Stoked: Did you have your scan today? HOw did you go?
Reet: It's a hard one. With my DD i didn't feel comfortable buying things for her until i was past about 25 weeks. Then i figured i better start choosing some things so i'd be organised. But i didn't pick them up. I organised for DH to do that while i was in hospital with DD. We only put the change table together after i brought her home! (Ok, so DD's room looked like half a dining room with some baby things in it for her first yr of life but that was because we were in a tiny flat. It wasn't just being disorganised). I guess you do what you feel comfortable with.

Dory: It's a funny thing with tests. In my experience you kind of want to find something so you have an answer to your symptoms but at the same time you don't really want them to find anything wrong with you! I hope you get the all clear and your symptoms go away. How about that?

Kel, Ferrals, Mildez, Melster, alish, tegam:

AFM: I saw my OB on Thursday. I was measuring spot on for dates. Could clearly see and hear the HB and see blood flow to the baby. And i saw a teeny tiny umbilical cord! So awesome! Still nervous every week about what i'm going to see on that screen. I freak out when i hear stories about people getting bad news at 12wk scan. So scared it'll happen again. But nothing for me to do but wait and hope. Meanwhile, i'm looking at my ticker and laughing at the idea that baby is now an olive. Maybe i'll nickname it Olive for the week!

Hi girls! Just a quick selfish one...

Had my scan today.. Everything was perfect! Baby wasn't cooperating very well and it took ages to get the neck measurement but apart from that all was great! Was almost certainly low risk.

He could also tell what sex the baby was! So a very exciting scan indeed!
