Calling on anyone who has used pregnyl during frist trimester pregnancy. Just wondering how do you know if your strong pregnancy symptoms are due to a healthy pregnancy or just the extra hcg shots? had strong pregnancy symptoms before starting the shots and have had my pregnancy confirmed at 7 weeks and saw the bubs and heat beat but just worried that I am not having another scan till next week and have no idea if all is ok or the pregnyl might be covering up?
Has anyone had experience in this?
I had pregnyl shots twice a week until just past 12 weeks with this pregnancy and had the same concerns you're having. Unfortunately for the first few weeks at least you really do just have to try to stick it out as best you can. Your natural hcg levels should have climbed enough now though that the symptoms you're feeling are from your bub and the pregnancy, and not so much the pregnyl anymore. I had very strong symptoms right from the start (good but bad IYKWIM), but they got significantly stronger as the weeks went on (and still here - definitely bad now!) and didn't stop just because the pregnyl did. I also stopped feeling the effect of the shots so much each time too
Good luck with your scan next week. I know how nerve racking it is waiting those weeks in between to see that magical heartbeat again.
Thank you BD, I really appreciate it... I am so nervous... its like I don't believe this could be real.. like with the other 3 pregnancies, I expect something to go wrong...
Thanks LHB, I can't believe you are still going through strong pg symptoms. I guess I am just worried the pregnyl is hidding or masking what is really happening with the pregnancy. I to used to get really sick after an injection and now I don't notice any difference. I am just constantly sick, and tired, dizzy as well. My boobs are sore but they don't constantly ache like they used to? my DH is too scared to bond with this baby... every other pregnancy he would talk to my belly... with this one he is too scared in case we lose another one. Since his father died which was 2 years ago (taken from us tragically) he hasn't dealt with death very well at all. Not that dealing with death is easy but he hates even being in a hospital now. Even if its just for a check up...
I wish I was a patient person... I know I just need to wait until my scan... I just wish there was a way you could know. I wish I had one of those machines that you can hear the heart beat. You see them on TV shows... wish I could have one just to check everyday. Wouldn't that be nice....
You can buy a doppler online if you want. I bought one when I was pregnant with DD1. She was my fourth pregnancy and I was a complete wreck. TBH, looking back now I'm not sure if it was a good idea or not. There were days when I couldn't find her heartbeat quickly and I got incredibly stressed.
What your DH is going through sounds sadly normal. It is incredibly hard to lose babies, and losing his dad as well is only going to add to it all. My DH goes the other way - he goes oh so incredibly positive about each pregnancy. I had four m/cs last year and each new pregnancy he was so upbeat about it all and I wanted to smack him around!
If you're taking pregnyl then I'm guessing you're seeing a FS? I'm sure they have some sort of counselling service so it may be something worth investigating for both of you - either individually or together. I know the nurses at the clinic I went to were very worried about my state of mind when I conceived this sticky bub last year.
Pregnancy after miscarriage is hard. Pregnancy after multiple miscarriages is just plain bloody awful (leaving aside the obvious brilliance that you are in fact pregnant!). Unless you are already, why don't you pop your head into the pregnancy after miscarriage thread. There are unfortunately way too many ladies on BB who are in the same position, and it can help to be able to unload your concerns to women who really know what its like.
Thanks LuluHB, I am not seeing a fertility specialist, just a private ob...
I posted in Pregnancy after miscarriage and loss cause I thought the same thing as you, thought people who would have experienced similar would be on here...
The doppler (had no idea that's what it was called) that's a good idea... unless you can't find the heart beat because the bubs is in a funny position.. then you will think the worst... might look into that though..
At about four weeks (about the exact time I missed my period). My first symptom was being very tired. I needed a nap in the middle of the day. The second symptom was sore breasts a few days to a week later. They didn't feel like starting my period they were heavy. Than about three weeks after my missed period I had severe nausea. About at three months my boobs grew a lot and they got darker. At 3 1/2 4 months my belly grew. At 15 weeks my ankles and hands got swollen. At 17 weeks I felt the baby kick. All the pregnancy symptoms week by week I can think of except for the "pregnancy glow" and the pretty hair
First 3 weeks - nothing
4/5 weeks - sore boobs, extremely tired, increased appeitite
6/7 weeks - nausea, round ligament pain
8/12 weeks - headaches every now and then, sore boobs gone, started peeing a little when I coughed or sneezed
13/14 weeks - nausea kicked in double time, heartburn
15/19 weeks - vaginal pains (no one ever told me about that one), tailbone pain, when I walked it hurt so bad
20 weeks - nausea finally eased up, major heartburn on and off throughout the day
21 weeks 5 days today - same, also when I have been sitting and I get up to walk, lower abdomen hurts, and it feels like I have to pee really bad, even if it's just little that comes out....also, stomach hurts when I am constipated, hurts to get up and walk.....
