I know every week that goes by now seems to fly past. Which is fine by mean cause that means that winter is flying past too! How do they measure the fundal height and what is it?

they get a tape measure and measure from your pubic bone to the top of ur uterus. Its not an accurate measurement and alot of places dont do it. But for 16 weeks you should "in theroy" be measuring 16 cm. Tho at my 24 week appointment i was measuring about 30. As i said alot of ppl dont do it but i put it on the list coz he might do it

Ah thanks for explaining that. Will he do an internal? I don't really want one but would like to prepare myself if he is likely to do that if you know what I mean?

    hi puppies

My OB has never taken a pee sample or measured me. He usually just feels my tummy and uses a doppler to hear the heartbeat. He also takes my BP and that's it! No internals here.

im due for my 3rd ob appointment next week and never had an internal yet or measured fundal height, mine weighs you, blood pressure,1st visit had a wee sample and mine has an ultrasound machine so every 4 weeks i get to see what the pod is upto..im sure as time progresses they will do more wee/bloods,scans measurements so its not too bad,i actually look forward to going...

nah he wont do an internal. theres no need to. But as i said the list is there to show u things he "might" do but even at my appointments.. i only got weighed 1st appointment, um i get the fundal height measured, listen to bubs heart beat, feels me tummy and checks BP.

The internals usually dont start till your over 30 weeks unless something goes wrong such as an infection. Not that docs check for infections but some do. Everyones different.

ps. theres not much point doing fundal hieght at 15 weeks as there isnt very much to measure. My first measurement was about 18 weeks i think
