I had three ultrasounds over 4 weeks this pg (circa weeks 19, 20 and 22) to check different things - and trying to nut out (excuse the pun) whether we were having a boy or a girl!!
First two were too close to call - there was something visible, but they couldn't tell whether it was a labia or a scrotum, and no penis was showing! They suspected boy, but couldn't tell for certain.
Third time, they thought it was a girl (because there appeared to be a line in the middle, suggesting labia) but then DS2 decided to do a wee and the penis revealed itself plain as day ... if they hadn't kept looking those few seconds, I would have been told we were definitely having a pigeon pair, rather than two little men!
But we kept the jury out and didn't buy any girl or boy things until we had received some much more definitive confirmation! Because you never know ...
My SIL was told she was a having a boy on two separate ultrasounds and so they were very suprised when out popped my niece.......this was only last year.
We decided to keep it as a surprise and at the checkup after my 20 week ultrasound my midwife told me of a birth in the hospital that week of a surprise boy, after the mum kitted out the nursery & and a cupboard full of clothes in pink....also last year
