Feeling really bummed - No clothes fit me anymore!

I'm kind of in a bad mood today. I have no pants that fit my expanding middle. I bought one of those belly bands that you can wear over your regular pants but it sucks. Every time I bend over it slides up and off my pants.

I live in a very small town that just does not sell maternity clothes, at least none tall erough for me (I'm 6 feet tall and not stick thin). Walmart has ONE pathetic rack of maternity clothes and there is a great second hand store that has a few racks, but of course they are all clothes for people of normal height.

I tried sewing a pair of pants but they are way too big and no matter how much I take them in, I can't seem to take them in enough and they are still huge. I also tried sewing a maternity panel into an older pair of pants I have and ended up cutting out too much and ruining them beyond repair.

I thought I'd try shopping online and found some really great items at Old Navy (at reasonable prices that might actually fit), and after getting all excited I found out they don't ship to Canada. Tall Girl will ship to me but the pants there were three times the price and they only had two pairs of pants that were OK!!

Right now I'm living in my pyjamma pants and scrub pants, but I can't really wear those out. BLAH! I'm feeling so ginormous and bummed out. I want nice clothes that fit me so I can feel semi-attractive again. :(

Aww you poor thing... that must be so frustrating!!!

Just a thought - is there anyone you know in the US whom the online store can ship the pants to, and then they can send it on to you?

Have you tried Ebay? Although I guess there may not be that much on there specifically for taller ladies?

Goodluck... I hope you can find some nice things really soon!

I feel for you! When I was pregnant I wore alot of draw-string trousers which were great as they grew with me. ALso yoga pants are great for that too. Urm...anything that can sit under your belly or that you can roll down...or Ebay like Ambah said.

    Good Luck!

Hey twinsister...I buy alot of atheletic gear from eastbay.com and they do have some funky casual stuff that may suit you. Try them....they've also got a clearance/discount section on their website. Fingers crossed you find something to make you feel a bit more comfortable and that will stay up!!

Thanks so much for the sympathy and the helpful suggestions. I will look into some athletic gear for sure.

I did look on ebay but the only few pieces that were in my size and height were REALLY ugly. The nice ones I did find on there had just ended (boo).

Actually Ambah's suggestion of asking someone in the states to help was a good one. I know a few online people in the states and approached them with my problem. They all offered to let me have my stuff mailed to them and they would mail it to me. I can have my Old Navy pants after all! I just hope they fit ok, it's so hard buying clothes you haven't tried on, even if the label is supposedly your size.

    Hey there twinsister,

I am also the same size as you and found that wearing my dh sweat pants work well. I am over being fashion conscious as i am expecting twins - just like yourself! it sucks having to look like your homeless but at the end of the day we are in the same trimester and you can be daggy together with me!! hahahahahaha!! I felt the same way about a month ago as my cool jeans would not do up even under my belly anymore - even though they were loose to start with and my tops and tshirts keep riding up my tummy and back. I made a belly belt. Its elasticised cotton fabric - you can get any colour you like to match your other tops - i just made black and white. its about 40 cms thick and make it to fit around the size of your tummy. That will solve the top half. As for the bottom half go to the mens section in walmart. There has to be something sweetie. Most of my pants are short anyway and its winter here so i look ridiculous. You probably could get away with the shorter length. I really understand you - poor thing. I wish i could give you a hug. You are not ugly or fat or too tall!!! You are just pregnant and going to have a beautiful baby really soon. Dont let this get to you!! Keep me posted - i would love to know if you make those belly bands!!

Omg your comment about looking homeless and daggy made me snort! My husband is super skinny so none of his clothes fit me right now (not even his t-shirts that I used to love). I normally do buy pants from the mens section though since they are taller. I have some clothes on order from Old Navy (to a friend in the states) and some being sent to me from a very generous person here, so I'll see how they fit, and after that I may be back at Walmart in the mens section. I have a friend here who is also pregnant (a month ahead of me) but she is of normal height so she has all these cute maternity clothes (bought in Vancouver, not here) so I feel extra "daggy" next to her LOL.

Dont worry twin sister. When i read your thread i snorted too!! You are so funny. At the end of the day you dont have to worry about anything. I know the ugliness will only last a little longer and then we will be somewhat normal. My hubby is short and fat so his sweat pants are like knickerbockers - remember those. Not to worry sweetie. You can always vent to me. I truly understand you!!

    big hugs and kiss

    XOXOXOX Gina
