    Hay Fever Relief?

There seems to be mixed opinions about what is and isn't safe to use during pregnancy for hay fever. Mine has started early this year and I would love some sweet relief. I used to use beconase which worked well for me and occasionally I'd use an antihistamine if the beconase didn't cut it.
Seeing the OB on thursday so I'll check then, but has anyone used anything during pregnancy for hayfever and what did they use?

My Ob said to it was safe take Zyrtec after ringing and checking with the pharmacy hotline at the Womens Hospital. Polaramine zonked me right out and made me wary driving & functioning at work.

I've needed Polaramine a couple of times but I only take it at night because, for me, it is like taking a sleeping tablet. For example, I needed one last night and literally didn't move for 6 hours!

I have also been using a nose spray and eye drops to deal with irritation etc. And drinking lots and lots of water.

Any of the old ones should be ok, Polaramine and Phernergan, however they will knock you out and put you to sleep or make you very drowsy. I dont think many non drowsy ones are safe. Most are Cat B or C I think from memory but good to double check

I used Polaramine and a sinus rinse a lot, I suffer terribly with hayfever year round and especially while pregnant. I also had a fantastic nasal spray but it's prescription only and costs a bomb. I got quite a bit back from my health insurance though.

I use zyrtec. My dr approved it. I also take polaramine everynight to help me sleep, the chemist said it was only ok up until the 3rd trimester because it can make the baby drowsy, so it's not good if you go into labour and have had it.

    Re: Hay Fever Relief?

Because the drowsy ones are old and they know are safe the new ones are non drowsy and less safe because not as tested

i see.. i think tested medicines are better especially for pregnant women but much better if we treat hay fever naturally, just like drinking lots of liquids, cleaning our surroundings, pregnant women are more susceptible to allergies and viruses. Getting rid of things that can trigger hay fever like pollen dander and dusts. Wash frequently bed linens during hay fever season and might use an air purifier would also help.

Not that I'm aware of. You could google its side affects.
