Unhappy Please put my mind at ease

I have noticed over the last two days that I have not felt any movement from my belly. I first felt wiggles from the baby about 2 weeks ago and although there was not much, and it was quite gentle, I would at least be guaranteed a little wiggling in the evening when I lay down to go to sleep.

I didn't think too much of it two nights ago, but last night got me a bit more worried. I can't remember this happening with my last pregnancy, I think I remember the wiggles getting stronger and stronger over time.

Can this be normal? Does a baby's movements settle or slow after originally being there? As my thread title says, please put my mind at ease, being Christmas Eve and with a trip away planned for Boxing day, I wont be able to see anyone until about 4th Jan!!

They can move around and settle down hun.

Try having a glass of icy cold water and laying down - chances are you will feel some kicks, pretty strong ones!!!

Let us know how you go xoxo

    Hi Jackrose

I started feeling bubs from about 16 weeks and up until about 2 weeks ago I would go days without feeling a thing.

But after having pretty regular movement, last weekend I didn't really feel bubs from Friday till Monday only maybe once or twice and only if I laid still and really really concentrated, ususally when I'm at work I get kicked away at when I'm sitting at my desk.

I had Ob appoint on Monday and mentioned it to midwife & Ob and they said it's perfectly normal and had it confirmed by hearing healthy hearbeat.

If your worried I'd ring doc / widwife for a bit of reassurance, they may be able to squeeze you in

Thanks for your words of encouragement and your suggestions, I had some sugar, a glass of icy water and a lie down and I am pretty sure I felt some little wiggles.

I at least feel reassured to know that I am still within the realms of 'normal'!

I'm so pleased to hear you felt your wiggles! It must be a huge relief for you and I hope they continue to get bigger, better and stronger

Sometimes I dont feel jelly bean for a couple days whether it be because bubs is just being quiet or because Ive been to busy to pay attention.. But it is very normal at this point to go a little while without feelign anything

You're at about the same point as me, Jackrose. With DS I felt it all for the first time quite a lot later and it was definitely stronger. This time I have felt kicks and somersaulty things, but it's a lot earlier and not as strong, because of course the baby is smaller and has more room to move around still at this point. Some days I don't feel anything and other days just one or two movements. With DS I had a fright late in the pregnancy where I didn't feel anything for 24 hours and went to get it checked out. He was lying with his back to my front and the kicking and poking were happening towards my back, which is why I couldn't feel it. Remember we can't feel kicks away from our front. I've also noticed that this time around I'm dealing with a toddler at the same time so I'm not as aware of movement as I was when it was just me and DH and we had the time to just sit/lie and be quiet and still. And given the busy-ness of this time of year, you're probably on the go constantly and bubs would be getting rocked to sleep by all that movement. Hope you find some time out to relax while you're away. Shouldn't be long now and we'll both be wishing the little darlings would just give us a break from the kicking for a little while and that our ribs weren't getting such a beating! Good luck

Thank you so much for the words of encouragement! I am not usually worried too much by things as I understand that worrying does not help and there are often logical explanations for most concerns, this little concern took me by surprise though! I just had a bad feeling that went with it.

I have continued to feel some little wriggles in the last few days which is reassuring.

You are all right of course, and I think I forgot how little the baby is and how much the movements come and go. Otherwise, here's hoping I have a clam little baby in there who just likes to chill out and will continue to do so after birth too!
