    A silly question

I have been wondering about whether you ladies have had the similar issue as i have had with trying to shave down there. I find it almost impossible to reach and see properly. And i like to stay groomed. Im worried that i will soon forget to keep it in order, and ill be a state forrest, by the time im 40 weeks.

What are people opinions on how well clipped to be when it comes to the big push. Is it better to let it grow, or have it all trimmed away.. Im embarrassed if its all bushy, and the doc/midwife cant see whats happening down there. Im sure when it comes to the pain of labour, i wont be worrying bout it, but still...??

Im so sorry for the unusual question, but its been on my mind for a while, and i only feel confortable asking you

lol, thats what my friend said, but i had a male midwife last week, and he pulled my pants down to measure me, and i was totally shocked bout the bush, I didnt realise it was that bad, but laying down i saw it, and felt so sorry for the poor bugger lol.

I guess hes prob seen a fair few in his day, so he prob didnt care. Its all natural i guess...lol

Yeah I was paranoid about that as well the first time. I was so embarrassed I'd blush.

TBH they don't care what you look like down there I guess its the old "seen one you've seen them all" Try to remember that they look at girls bits all day everyday and I promise you, you have NOTHING they haven't seen before. On the flip side of the coin try putting yourself in their shoes, they really are there to do a job and really want to make it as quick and comfortable for you so they are not going to go "ohhh cute hair cut" or "I like what you have done there"

My Ob and my Specialist are both male as is my family Dr, they have all seen my bits and now I barely shave my legs for them let alone my bits For birth I am sure when I am there I won't be giving two hoots about what I look like.

Still if you feel uncomfortable go and get yourself waxed at a salon or get your other half to give you a hand.

ITA with the others- they really don't care what you look like, so just do what you are comfortable with and physically capable of doing!

Having said that, I never did much down there, but kind of wished I had post-birth- with all the bleeding and soreness and everything, I think I would have felt a little cleaner if I had tidied up a bit!

i agree with Amberj - being a bit tidier down there definatley made me feel 'cleaner' post birth..
i got my dh to help me once i got too big, he did an ok job. (i didn't shave but trimmed short) i felt more comfortable being more groomed in that area, even though i new no-one cared but me. i loved the clean factor!

OMG don't do it!! LOL. I could not see a thing and ended up with a bald patch pmsl. Lucky it was a while before the birth so no one saw. I was so scared they were going to see it at appointments but they never had to and I didn't attempt it again before the birth.

    lol, thanks ladies lol.
I have always worried bout it getting too bushy, thought it might make things harder for them when trying to help deliver the baby. But i guess they know what there doing.

I also thought it would help keep things cleaner down there. But im scared of shaving it all off just before i give birth, because i always get a bad itchy shaving rash....and im sure i wont want that ontop of bad contractions etc.

im embarressed to admit it but ive already let mine go
i just cant do it anymore.. i cant see properly and i get all cramped up alot easier when trying to reach those hard to reach places. but, DH has taken a stand and has told me that i cant let it go wild and that he will do it for me. haha. (which is good coz he does a better job than i do LOL)
i think i iwll make sure im properly groomed after birth purely because its much cleaner to deal with.
Im not keen on the sahvers rash, so i might take Jamakins advice and get some clippers, i will still need DH to do it for me
Its amazing how much you little bump can get in the way, i have trouble bending down to put on my shoes, i no longer paint my toe nails coz i simply cant reach haha.
But SIL has offered to paint my nails awe she's so lovely

I actually saw a very nifty mens razor in coles today. Its the new titanium i think? and it comes with a mini set of clippers on the handle end of the razor. It was only 11 bucks on special, and DP uses his to trim his goatie...I was thinking of investing in one for myself...to use down there...

just a suggestion if any of you ladies are interested too...

i ended up buying a grooming kit sort of thing - it was like mens clippers but much smaller & they had a few attachments for either bikini line trimming & i think there was a special attachment for eyebrows as well!! DP had to sort mine out for me. in reality though, by the time i was in labour i didn't care about anything! and that is SO unlike me

I too am a bit of a neat freak when it comes to down there.

I generally get waxed but have let it go ever since being pregnant.

Does anyone know if it's more painful to get waxed when you're pregnant??

I'm actually getting to that stage where I just want to leave it I can't see a damn thing and it's time to 'clean myself up' down there and well... I just can't cause I can't see!

    Hi Soulful

I had my waxing done at the weekend and wasn't any more painful. However in saying that I've been waxing for years and years (last time I shaved down there would be 15+ years so is never painful) If you have left it go for a while it might hurt a small bit more than normal.

    Hope this helps.
