OMG that was the worst part about pregnancy for me. My hips were killing me by the end! I didn't find a solution. Had to keep waking up and rolling over. I found the pillow between the legs helped a bit.

I also have sore hips ATM & find that sleeping with a body pillow gives some relief. I have one of those long narrow ones. I have it between my knees & also rest my belly on it, so I'm kinda off my hip IYKWIM.
Wrestling with a big pillow makes it harder to turn over during the night though!!

Definitely try a pillow between your knees, it helps take the pressure off.

I use a body pillow atm and it is sooooo good!

    Hope you feel some relief.

Sorry to hear you are having such a tough time, NaeNae

I also have crazy sore hips and if I am not waking up to wee, I am waking up from the pain, so I know what you are going through! Now, at 35 weeks, I get lower back pain if I lie on my back and therefore have to deal with the sore hips associated with lying on my side. I move around sooo much at night that a maternity pillow really isn't an option for me.

What helped for me was to lie on my back (and get some decent sleep) until it really became too uncomfortable (around 30 weeks). I checked with my OB and he said it was no problem and that if my body was having issues with it, it would change position or wake me up. So, if I was you, I would continue sleeping on my back and you will know when you can't anymore...then opt for the horrible "sleeping on your side" solution.

Not particularly helpful advice, I know, but perhaps it can get you a couple more weeks of decent sleep x

I used to have a long body pillow which I would wrap under the belly, and then between the legs. It helped make me comfortable, until I woke up and had to roll over. DH hated it. But I am going to get it down soon to use this time... Sleeping pregnant is not fun... xo

Oh boy ain't it fun.... I am sleeping with 3 pillows atm, makes it fun to roll over at night - which I do every hour or two...
One U shaped under my tumm & legs, another between my legs - that helps a bit with the hips.
If they get too bad during the night, I prop another pillow under my back so I can lie on a bit of an angle instead of straight up & down on my side.... I don't know if that makes sense? It's not quite completely on my side but angled towards my back just a little bit. It takes the pressure off my hips a little.

I thought I might try acupuncture as well since that was so good with my back. but my hips don't really bother me through the day, mostly at night...

Rufalina, my DH says that is the main reason he wants this bub out so soon...so he can get a good nights sleep

I occasionally have the same problems. The thing I have found that helps me is taking calcium & magnesium tablets 3 times a day with the last one taken about an hour or so before bed.
On the nights that I forget I have problems sleeping thanks to the hip pain.
I hope you get some relief real soon

thanks girls I had no idea about this as this stage last year I was in hospital hanging from my ankles I was kinda hoping someone would say "don't worry you'll get so tired and exhausted that you'll just crash anyway" so much for wishful thinking

OK so I will note this down as one of my NEW pregnancy joys.

Thanks so much I will try a few more side but not so side possies and see if that makes a difference.

Jols, I hope your hip soreness is nothing serious, take care hun won't you
