TMI- Swelling lady parts during pregnancy???

Hi everyone just a quick question I am 26 weeks and experincing some pain one side of my lady lower parts ummm not too sure what its called but outer lip where you can shave (god imagine me giving directions). Its quite swollen and on closer inspection has come up with surface black almost like spider veins that appear very shallow. Quite painful when I walk but have been walking all day.
Just hoping this is a common thing that happens and goes away or if its a sign of something that needs attention.
    Thanks in advance

Your outer labia maybe? =) There's a whole lot more blood pumping around your body these days, and it's needed for your nether regions in general as you grow a baby, so swelling's not unusual. Pain after walking all day probably wouldn't concern me too much, but you could always mention it to your care provider if you wanted to double check. If in doubt, check it out, and all that.

I agree with Nelle, rest as much as possible to see if it was just the busy day... then see someone if it doesn't resolve itself. I recall some swelling, but not pain... but then, I was quite lazy Hope it gets better soon!

I haven't had it myself, but I have heard that sometimes you can get varicose veins down there - which can be quite painful at times and may be irritated by a lot of walking/rubbing from clothes etc.

But if worried, ask your caregiver.

Sounds like vulval variscosites - varicose veins of the vulva (as CK said). They can be quite painful and will most likely become more so as your pg progresses (sorry!!). You can get special shorts designed to provide additional support to the area, but they are quite expensive. Rest as much as you can and keep your feet up. You can ice the area if you find it helps, it should help to constrict the vessels (make them smaller, but only short term) and provide some relief. Panadol might help also.

Get your ob/MW to examine you if it is very painful. They might also have some other good suggestions for relief!

I also had this, it was so painful, in the end I would keep ice packs in my knickers
Was especially bad after some loving

Good thing, it went away almost immediately after birthing my son

    Hang in there Hun
