It could be a symptom.
Have you been drinking less water than usual? Also the heat you guys have been having could be adding to dehydration, making it more concentrated, which would leave it looking darker or cloudier.
Symtoms can included irritation, burning, or pain, needing to frequently urinate -only passing small amounts, - but not feeling relieved.
Naturally you could try drinking cranberry juice, sometimes that stops the onset of a UTI for me. However it also might be worth going to the GP and having it tested just to be on the safe side.
Thanks Ambah, have been on to the cranberry juice already.
I dont have any of the other symptoms. I normamly have about 1.5-2L water a day but may still not be eough. Imight go to get it checked to be on the safe side.
i would get it checked hun - just to be on the safe side - it may not be that you have any blood cells in your urine (they can tell on a standard dipstick test) but they might pick up on something else
up the water intake for a while (1.5-2L is an ok amount not pg and not summer - i'd say you need 2.5L at the moment at least!) - your blood volume increases while pg, so you need more water to keep it up. plus LaLa is probably taking a lot out of you.
if you want to flush yourself out a bit more, give Ural a go - i've had a few times since pg where i've felt my pee isnt' quite right. i've felt a little heavy in the bladder (without feeling a bubba laying on it) so i've used Ural a few times over a couple of days, and feel a whole lot better - and thankfully it doesn't taste too bad! if nothing else, it will flush you out a little and hopefully make your pee a little more "normal" in color
I would say you have a UTI - dehydration would cause your urine to go darker, but not make it appear cloudy. And I have seen many people (mostly older ones though) be admitted to hospital due to a UTI that showed no symptoms at all. Until they got septic from it anyway...
A bit extreme and OT (and this is the first time I've heard of it happening from a UTI, so don't freak out, and thnk it could happen to you), but did you see how some Brazilian (I think) Miss World contestant lost her hands and feet recently (i saw it on ninemsn yesterday), because she had a UTI that got really bad, and into her blood system, and shut down the circulation in her hands and feet, and she had to have them amputated? But yeah, very unlikely that would happen to you, just sharing a story!
So yeah, I reckon it sounds like a UTI - you can go to either your GP or midwife to get it checked out for you.
Just go the dr/midwife (whatever's more convenient) and pee in a cup - they will be able to dipstick it in three seconds and that will give an indication of infection or all clear. Don't take any chances while you are pregnant because your kidneys are more susceptible to infection. I suspect it will be an all-clear since I had cloudy pee all thru my pregnancy and no actual problems.
I went to the GP after work to do the urine test.
Well the dipstick thingy showed white cells and nothing else. She wont start me on ABs til she has the path. tests back which will be monday as she said it could still not be a UTI, and might be thrush or something else?
Its the 'something else' thats got me worried what else could it be?
it's highly unlikely to be anything else hun - most likely either UTI (stick with the natural things you're trying) or thrush. maybe baby has kicked a little too hard and you have an injury in your bladder that is bleeding a bit... lots of maybe's but if you're not in pain, i would just do what you can to flush your system, and go back monday for results!
If there was any bleeding it would show on the dipstick as red blood cells, not white.
I would still say that it is a UTI - white cells are usually only in your urine if you have an infection...so to help flush it out, keep up your water intake, and dink cranberry juice - I don't like the taste of it straight, but it's ok if you make it 50:50 with water.
unfortunately white blood cells show for other reasons too - i had a high level of them about 12 weeks ago, put on ab's to await results, and no infection. WBC's are also a sign of inflammation...
OK, its back. The cloudiness.
Im going to go back to the doctors tonight ( its a bulk billing clinic so I dont know who I will get - my GP requires you to foresee your illness 3+ days in advance to get in).
I think they "think things" about me, Im sure they think I am being silly, although this time I have been having some weird pains in my lower abdomen so maybe they will take it a bit more seriously, plus its the first time I have noticed it again so hopefully that means they will get a culture to grow if it is a UTI.
If I get ural, cranberry juice, water etc, will that dilute the sample too much for when I go tonight - Im worried it will make them miss it?
