I never had a scan at 16 weeks, so found out with both at the 19/20 week scan.
Just putting it out there... today I have my 16 week check up with my OB and wondering when he does a scan would he be able to tell me the sex of my baby? I know some people that have had it told to them at their 16 week check up but just wondering how many others have too....
I know he will probably tell me to wait till my 20 week scan but if he could see would like to think he would tell me?![]()
I never had a scan at 16 weeks, so found out with both at the 19/20 week scan.
I had my 19/20 week scan at 18 weeks and found out then, no problems

With DD I found out at 15 weeks. I was in Singapore so had a scan everytime I went there. He said he could tell and was 99% sure, but would confirm it at the 20 week scan. He was right, though

i paid for a gender determination scan at 17 weeks![]()
We were able to find out at the 19/20 weeks scan with DS2 & DD.
I never had a scan around the 16 week mark.
I do know of some how have been able to find out the sex at the 12/13 week scan.
When I went for my 12 week scan, the sonographer asked if we wanted to know. She said sometimes she could tell if it was a boy. We didn't want to know so I don't know what she saw but it turned out to be a girl anyway. We found out with DS at 20 weeks.
This one was $150, i went to a different place with DS and it was $135, but theyd moved
I ended up in hospital in Hong Kong at 16 weeks and found out then. Stoopid doctor got everything else wrong, so it was good to have it confirmed at my 19 week scan back home.
i had the US tech guess at 12w, then at 16w i had another scan and they said the same as at 12w and then at my 20w scan they confirmed girl, i got them to check again at my 28w scan.
with DS we found out at 14w
I asked my ob if they could tell when I had an appointment around 16w, but their machine was pretty old so they said they wouldn't be able to tell. I had to wait til my 20 week scan.
My sonographer said most times you can tell at the 12wk scan cos of the way they look, something to do with reaction to the gender hormones developing...

With DD it was my 20 week scan - she was shy to start with and then flipped over and flashed us, but with the twins it was at 16 weeks (I was having 4 weekly scans for that pregnancy) and at the 16 week scan you could see obvious 'boy bits'.
With this bub my husband found out the gender at our 12 week scan. The sonographer said he could tell with 80% certainty. My hubby then had it confirmed at our 16 week Ob appointment when my Ob scanned bub. And he had it confirmed yet again at our 20 week scan. It stayed the same the whole time. I still have no idea what gender bub is though
With my son we found out at 19 weeks.
With my daughter we knew she was a girl before I was even pregnant with her. She is an ICSI/PGD princess. Sonographer at our 12 week scan wouldn't confirm the gender even though we knew what she was, but it was confirmed at 19 weeks.
Apparently at 12 weeks they don't determine the gender by looking for the actual genitals. It has to do with the angle of the genital tubercle in relation to the lumbosacral skin surface (lower portion of the spine). At 12 weeks the success rate is about 84%, and at 14 weeks it's about 94%. Isn't it amazing what can be seen on ultrasound while the bub is still so tiny?!
we found out at 12 weeks, then had it confirmed at 20wks.
with DS they told me at 12weeks but got the sex wrong
With DD they waited until 20weeks and told me then and got it right
I found out at the 20wk scan with all three. With the first two, the sonographer was 100% with DD she wasn't 100% and told me so. She was in fact right, think she was just covering herself![]()
