    sleeping?

I have always been a fantastic sleeper but over the last week i have really been struggling. At the moment i am lucky if i am getting 4 hours sleep a night, i toss and turn all night and i constantly feel tired.

I know that it is normal to have problems sleeping during pregnancy (due to being uncomfortable) but i was just wondering if anyone out there might have a few tips to help me get a half decent nights sleep?

    Cheers,

That is a tough one. I found that depending where bubs is 'sitting', depends on which way I sleep, plus the constant loo breaks keep me up.
I have found that sleeping 'propped' up with a few pillows is fairly comfortable or my leg over my other leg with a pillow underneath and a pillow behind me.
You might be overtired too or going to bed too early. I did that mistake and found I was waking at some ridiculous time in the morning only to have to get up in 2-3 hrs. See if you can go to bed a bit later and when you are really tired, that way you might sleep for a bit longer or have a deeper sleep??

I've been finding I'm sleeping a lot hotter than usual, so it may pay to strip a layer or two off your usual bedding as that can lead to a restless night.

I agree with the pillow recommendations, even at this early stage my hips get quite sore if I lie in the one position for too long, so propping a pillow between my legs and sort of in front of my tummy helps.

The other thing I have noticed is that I'm waking up stuffed up in the nose (am probably snoring too as a result) and I've found that a few squirts with Fess saline before bed helps a bit too.

I also try not to get upset if I have a bad night, but try to nap when I can - even if it's just fifteen minutes on the couch before tea. It all makes a difference!

I can highly recommend a full length body pillow-- I LURRVE MINE!! It's great to lift your belly off the bed or "throw a leg over". DH calls it my boyfriend but I know he secretly cuddles up to it when I'm not in there. Without it I would not be sleeping anywhere near as well as I am-- I was a tummy sleeper. Hope you find something that works for you.

Like Hope, I loved my full length body pillow during my pregnancy.

I had a major problem sleeping during a large part of my pregnancy and found different things worked at different times. The body pillow, a warm shower/bath half an hour before bed, regular gentle exercise, massage from DH, eliminating ALL caffeine from my diet (ok, that one lasted a day ), relaxation techniques such as guided imagery.

    HTH.
