baby hardly moving -should i call hossy?

    hi all
as most of you know im 41 weeks today much to my dismay
my baby is usually very active even now that shes running out of room!
but last night and today have hardly felt any movements (i got up 4 hrs ago and less than 10 slow movements), had a can of coke that usually gets her going but no, and tried pushing my belly a bit (usually she jabs me back) but nothing...and her only movements have been slow and small...i know that babies slow down right before birth but should i call the hossy? im being induced tuesday should i just wait til then? hossy is only about 15 mins away but i dont wanna go in and feel like an idiot and have to come home again....?

Have you tried putting an icepack on your belly? Or drinking ice cold water? It wont hurt to give them a call and they might have some tricks up their sleeve to help her move and they may want you to go in for a bit of monitoring.

Definitely call your hospital, they won't mind at all if you come in to be monitored, that's what they're there for!

It's great that you are feeling some movement, but you should always get checked out when you feel worried .

Hopefully bub has just slowed down because she is ready to be born

Maybe even some caffeine? You may as well go in for some monitoring though, just to put your mind at ease.

i'd call. they are more than happy to give some suggestions and if it puts your mind at ease and shares the burden of your concerns then it is worth it.

no doubt it is just bubs getting into the 'firing' position LOL!. DD also began some sluggish 'dont bug me mum' movements the afternoon before she was born ITH.

good luck, you'll have that bubba in your arms real soon!

I have heard but don't know if it's true or an old wives tale, that babies move less just before you go into labour.

You'd better call the hospital to be sure though.

i'd call hun.. theres no harm in calling to see what the nurses say.

i had dp drive me to the hospital (30mins away) at 3am friday morning, beause i wasnt 'feeling right' they monitored bub for a while, and i was right to go. no one knows your body but you, so do what you need to to put your mind at ease.

Tinkerbell - my ob specifically tells his patients that this is an old wives tale and any reduction in movement should be monitored.

TM - Definitely call the hospital, they'll be happy you did.

No definately go to hospital to have a CTG. I am sure everything is fine and she is just running out of room however when you are overdue you are more at risk of placental insufficency and the baby passing meconium into the amniotic fluid so although I am sure everything is fine I would go just to make sure. Then you can rest assured she is fine. A cold drink drunken fairly quickly (like the coke) or food usually gets them going but if that is not really making much difference Id go in to be checked out.
