I'm starting to stress out slightly, at my last obs appointment yesterday bubby was in a breech position, I'm pretty sure that it's been in the same position since about 28 weeks. He's telling me not to worry about it yet, and that he'll do an ultrasound at 36 weeks to see if it's head down and engaged and that only 2-3% of babies are still breech at term. I guess my main concern in that ds had severe hip dysplasia and he wasn't a breech baby, and I keep thinking that may the baby can't turn if it has hip dysplasia, plus it's more likely to have it if is breech. Does that make any sense? I'm also slighltly concerned it has engaged, it seems to be sitting really low down (the bottom of the bump seems to be resting on the pubic bone) and the last couple of days I've had stabbing like pains low down. My ob said that they would try turning it if it hadn't by 36 weeks, but in the mean time is there any point in trying to get baby to move?
There are a few things that you can do hun. Check out the spinning babies website Here is the link for you. There is a bunch of positioning stuff you can do, spending time each day on hands and knees, bum up in the air can help bub turn, having a warm bath and holding an icepack on the top of your belly with bottom of your belly in the warm water. After 36 weeks you could also look at getting acupuncture and moxibustion, as well as Chiropractic work to correct any problems with alignment in your pelvis.
I was told at 34 weeks that bub is more than likely breech too and I am heading for a VBAC so am a bit stressed but there is still time for bub to turn and I am doing all of the above when the time comes! Good luck with it all.
Thanks Tanstar!! Yep, I'm starting to do the positional stuff, hopefully it'll help bubby kick it's way round. I'm trying not to stress about, and will definitely look into the moxa sticks from 36 weeks, I've heard they have about a 70% success rate. Just trying to give myself lots of stern words to not worry and baby will turn when its ready.
I hope your little man has turned by your next appt, good luck!
My friend is 34 weeks and has this prob too. She has been having accupuncture and moxibustion, another girl she knew who had the acupuncture her bub turned straight after the appt!
Good luck girls.
My acupuncture practitioner also says at 36 wks if bubs is breech, moxi treatment and he has about 80% success - if you start later it is harder for bub to turn of course cos of lack of space
i was told at 34 weeks that the bub was transverse posterior and if it stayed that way because the placenta was anterior that it would become lodged spine-to-spine in a deep transverse posterior position. i tried all that stuff on the spinning babies websites and the other websites out there as my dr really freaked me out about it and she had scheduled an ultrasound for 35 weeks in which we found out the baby had turned and was head down!!
