    Breech bub questions?

I'm hoping some of use wise ladies can advise me of some good things/positions to use to encourage this lil one to turn and be in a good head down position.

She was head down at an US at 31 weeks but then decide to turn back around to breech at my 32 week ante natal appointment, my problem is i find it hard to distinguish between head and bum and the midwife definately had it right cos of where she picked the HB up from on the doppler.

I'm going to jump onto the spinning babies website anyway. Also when they try and turn bub i've heard there are alot of risks involved!? Plus i'm slightly pooping my pants at the thought of a CSection cos i've had two relatively easy labours - well as easy as they get

    Hi Dannii,

My baby was breech around the 30 week mark and I put my knees on the couch and hands on the floor for as long as I could hold it (its not real easy and I am carrying small) - next appointment, baby was head down. Not sure if it worked but I guess its worth a try.

    Good luck hun xx

You will see on the spinning babies website that they talk about inversions (which is what Megsy talks about in the above post)....I wouldn't recommend doing them for longer than 30 seconds though...the idea is it streches the uterus and makes it alittle uncomfortable for bubs so it is encouraged to move IYGWIM.

The most useful I found was to go to the pool and do handstands and swim around on your tummy. Felt great and worked for me. I was carrying transverse, then posterior. Now Im good- hopefully it stays that way.

Also...everyone will tell you, most babies spin the right way eventually, and your more likely to be carrying breech up until labor just cause you have carried full term before.

Anyway...dont stress, have a look at spinning babies and Good luck!!!

    Thanks ladies.

I don't think i could do the inversions atm due to feeling like a fat duck and also the SPD i've also got limits my movements some what. I could just imagine DH walking in and asking what on earth am i doing

If my pool warms up enough over the next week i might try and spend some time in there tummy down and have a good ole chat to Miss A..

I know it's different for everyone, but Amelia was breech and I had a successful exterior version a week before she was born. It's not for everyone though, and the OB was actually surprised at how easily she turned, which makes me think it's not as easy as it was for me

I tried a couple of the spinning babies things, and they either didn't work or were what made it easier for her to turn

No chance of going to the local pool to do the inversions ( handstands)? There was no hope I could do the exercises out of water either aka going to the pool.

Eta: doing it in the pool is low impact so it doesn't make movement hard IYGWIM

Thanks Teni i've just heard so many conflicting stories of it being painful etc. What do they do? I mean the midwife explained they give you an injection to calm the uterus but as in do they check with US that the cord isn't in the way etc.?? Kinda worries me some what and although i've had two easy natural labours i'm just not 100% sure i want to put bub in danger. Hopefully she has turned back around by 36 weeks..

Delphmoon totally know what you mean but the local pool isn't heated and i'd rather swim in my own pool anyway... bit more privacy. i finish up work on Tuesday so bring on the hot weather so it heats it up enough for me
    Goodluck for your impending birth
