    Change in babies movement

Okay, so im new at this, its my first...but i was just wondering if the kicks and movements are different in th third trimester thn in the second?

In the second i found bub to be very active, and he kicks were more "boom" kicks...lol

However now, ive found bub to be a lot quieter, and i only feel movement usually before bed, and early hours when i wake up.
The movement has also changed from a kick to a more rolling feeling..... is this all normal?
It also feels like bub is a lot deeper inside me now, and not as close to the skin.

Also, they say you can start to see elbows and/or legs poking out...how many weeks approx can i expect to see this??

im getting that 'rolling' feeling too. i think its because theyre running out of space!!
the deeper feeling ur getting may just be bubs kicking towards ur spin instead of kicking ur belly. As for feeties and elbows sticking out, every baby is different it may start right now, or it mightn't happen, or maybe it already has and u havent noticed it yet! i only get it very occasionaly and even then its usually only for about 2 seconds

Thats funny I would have said I got the rolling feeling earlier when bub had more room. I'm about 4-5 weeks ahead of you FTM so that might make a difference.

Bub has been pretty active for the last few weeks. Definitely two different kinds of "kicks" in addition to the movement. One must be the hands and the other the feet but can't work out which one is which yet! This is in addition to the moving which is wierd when I just see my tummy changing shape in front of my eyes - up and down/in and out. Tightness of tummy also changes as baby moves - seems to prefer hanging out on the right hand side at the minute so the bump is lopsided at times

Haven't seen any hands or feet sticking out yet but plenty of growth / lack of space to come in next few weeks so watch this space.

From what I've read baby should be moving every hour however if you are moving around you may not notice or else baby can be lulled back to sleep by your movement.

Try not to "expect" to see things. I am 36 weeks and the only thing that has ever poked out is bub's bottom when she moves from side to side. A friend of mine used to get elbows out the side and things like that, but each baby moves differently. You might not get that perfect picture of a foot pressing out...but bub will still be exercising those muscles!

is it also normal to feel movement in two places at once?
For example, i feel movement right down lower, above my vagina area...and at the same time, right up high above my belly button or on the sides...
Its weird, lol, made me wonder if i had twins, but its definately only a single bubba in there

Also, is it still in feet down poition at 28 weeks.....??

Don't forget bubs has hand AND feet so yes you can feel movement above and below.
I wouldn't expect to see a footprint though ( has everyone seen that e-mail with the baby's perfect foot print protruding through the mummy's belly?) But your belly may take different shape from time to time when baby rolls around and stretches. Enjoy !

Yes, normal - baby can be moving a leg and an arm, or wriggling its whole body so you might feel movements all over.

Your bub is probably still turning somersaults every day - and going from head up to head down fairly regularly. Or it may be quite happy feet down for now. Mine was vertex (head down) at 28, then breech (feet down) at 32, then vertex (head down) at 34 - so positions can change regularly up til about 36 when they start to run out of room. Even so, bub can still turn at the last minute from vertex to breech or breech to vertex - right before its born.

    ah ok..

yikes, i hope bub doesnt stay in the breech position at 40 weeks when he is due....there is no way to deliver a breech baby hey? It has to be done by c section...right??

first_time_mummy - my lil Ava was born breech and we had no idea she was in that position, some hospitals allow you to ATTEMPT a natural breech birth but MOST wont due to high risk.
Feel free to read my birth story about Ava - Ava's unexpected breech homebirth, just goes to show it can be done naturally against the odds.

Really depends on the hospital you choose, maybe just ask what the procedure is if you find out bubs is breech and if they give you a choice.

Hope all goes well, i'm 18wks pregnant with my 2nd so hopefully soon i can see/feel bubba moving around a bit more, the fun is just beginning.

    Good luck ladies.

    !!

Don't worry too much about it yet. If you get to 37 or 38 weeks and baby is breech there are a lot of things that you can do to encourage it to turn.

Acupuncture, chiropractic and even homeopathy can all help - there are also a lot of exercises you can do to encourage bub to turn, but nothing is recommended before about 36 weeks as babies still change position so frequently up until then.

Your caregiver may also suggest something called an ECV - an external cephalic version, where they use their hands on the outside of your tummy to try to turn the baby - it's guided by ultrasound to make sure there isn't a reason why bub isn't turning.

But I know of lots of women whose babies turned while they were in labour or just a day or two before, so there's really no need to panic.

The most likely thing is that your baby will turn in time for birth - they seem to know exactly what to do and will do it in their own time when they are ready. If I were a bub, I'd be most comfortable head up for a while!
