I had a scare few weeks back with the scanner saying that she is just going out of the room because she has an alarm bell ringing and going to get someone to come in for a second opinion.Considering I was 32 weeks along,My thoughts were....Why wasnt this picked up before in previous scans.
I was told that my babys chin looked small and set back. But they couldnt see too clearly because of the excess fluid, which is why I was having the scans in the first place to keep an eye on the amount of amniotic fluid I was carrying. After looking and looking for half an hour, they were not sure whether is was what they thought or not and said what they think it could be because he has a prominent top lip which was what made his chin look small and set back. They then showed the Doctor a picture they took there and then, and he said...no thats fine,im happy with that. And he told me that he thinks she just saw a profile of the baby which made it look bad and set her alarm bell ringing, but all the other profiles and the profile he saw looked normal. And then after showing him the picture of my baby she said to me,"Ok that is that,he is happy".But like you said,It doesnt stop the fact its happened and that you are left with the worry.I think about it alot even though i was told all is fine with my boy.
After looking at a picture taken of my daughter when she was 2 hours old...she has a prominent top lip and small chin.I think thats what they could see and its hereditery and normal looking. But after that long winded story,im just explaining that even sometimes the person scanning can be wrong
