    Freaked out!!

Ok, so last night we had a massive storm here in Darwin, it started at 2am and is still going....anyway that isn't what I wanted to talk about....when I woke up at about 2 this morning bubby was moving around but I also felt like a heart beat pulse that was too slow to be his and I know that it wasn't mine cause it was moving around with him when he moved. It made me worry that it was the umbilical cord and that he had it wrapped around his neck or something...after a while it would stop, then it would start again. He is moving around this morning but not quite as much as he usualy does. Am I just being a paranoid mum or is this something that you all think that I have to worry about. I'm freakin out man!!! Even if it is the case there is nothing I can do right?

Wow thats a long storm, we were lucky and never had any that went that long when we were there. I am sure everything is fine but maybe go to a medical centre or the hospital to get it checked out. I know that there aren't heaps of all hours places in Darwin but I am sure my MIL had one near Casuarina somewhere. Good luck, I am sure everything will be fine.

I had a huge movement in my belly and then didnt feel DD move all day. I tried lemonade, icy water and listening to her heart beat. My instinct told me to go and get checked out...while my brain told me not to be silly and worry about everything... DH convinced me to call the midwives, they told me to come to the hospital and after monitoring me... i had DD via cesearean that night. The cord was all ragged but i dont know how it got that way or what the huge movement was all about.
Im not trying to worry u, just sharing my story to let u know my experience and what i felt/didnt feel... maybe call the hosp or ur Obs or Dr just to be on the safe side... goodluck.

I say go with your instinct hun. If you are worried, get it checked, if it's nothing then at least your mind will be put at ease and you'll be able to stop worrying. I have no idea what it could be ... maybe Alan will pop in with his wonderful expertise

    Hi Nina

If you're worried get checked out. I went and get checked once, and the midwifes were wonderful. They told me, They would rather have women going up to be checked then have them staying at home worrying. I hope everything is okay.

Hi ladies and thanks for all your replies. I started to get a little more worried earlier today so I rang the hospital and the midwife there was lovely. She asked me alot of questions and didn't seem worried at all about what I was telling her. She said that as long as the baby is moving around and I have had about 10 movements that I can feel (Which I have) then really there is nothing to worry about. I'm just going to keep monitoring everything and see how it all goes. If I start to get paniky about anything I'm just gonna go to the hospital.

    Could it be hiccups?

Yep, bubs starts to swallow fluid and stuff and hiccups are quite commom. All three of mine did it.
I actually found it really irritating!
Bubs hearbeat is really quite quick. If it's hiccups, they will be regular but not as fast and come and go at any time.

Are you going to the public or the private Nina? I had Erin at the private, it was the best hospital I have ever stayed at!!!

My SIL's DP is being posted to Cairns at 35 weeks into her pg from Canberra, it gets very tricky when you are in the military doesn't it?
    So glad everything is OK

    Hey Rusty,
I am confused, is it like you hear two heart beats like a pulsing? could it just be bubbas pulse on another part of its body somewhere?
I reckon go and get it checked out if you think its different to normal though.

I'm sure its all fine, but if you get too worried, dont feel silly about getting it checked out, your a mum, its your job to worry and make sure everything is ok!!

It's like I can feel a heartbeat sensation.....like a pulseating feeling but I know it's not his and I know it's not mine. Hiccups makes sense to me and when I rang the midwife she suggested that that is what it might be...but it just didn't register at the time for some reason. Now i feel that that is what it is

I am sooo glad DH got out of the army! SIL gets to Cairns on 25th Jan and is due 25th Feb! The hardest thing for her is that the hospital in Canberra refused to see her for her pg cause she wasn't going to be there for the birth.
I hope Joel doesn't have to go to Afghanistan that must be worrying for you and bad timing too. Do you have family in QLD?
